All of our 1 bedroom + bunks/ 2 full bath condos come attractively decorated, fully functional and equipped kitchen, up to date flat screen TVs. There is 4 washer/dryers on each elevator landing for your use.
Pelican Beach Resort has more amenities than any other high-rise in Destin. It is a first class resort, and our rates are below the average resort rates and any other real estate company! We have 1bedroom + bunks/2 bath condos on the first, eighth, tenth, fourteenth and twentieth floors. We have two bedroom condos on the 1st, 5th 7th and 17th floor (corner unit here). At the Terrace we have three 3bedroom condos and one, 2 bedroom condos. These units are beautifully decorated. We have been self-managing our units since the building was built in 1997, and we offer nightly or weekly rates with snowbird rates in the winter.
Pelican Beach Resort is located in the heart of Destin across from the Big Kahuna Water/Theme Park. The resort has security at the entrance, covered parking, two tennis courts (at no charge), movie rentals at the front desk, a game room, and a restaurant/deli that serves pizza, sandwiches, etc. and also sells beer, wine, etc. to go.
A tiki bar (seasonal) overlooks the beach, and the resort features an indoor/outdoor heated pool, a baby pool, a large outdoor pool with a waterfall, a Jacuzzi overlooking the beach, beach umbrella and chair rentals (seasonal), barbecue grills overlooking the pools, workout facility with steam room and sauna (at no charge), and the most beautiful white sandy beaches and emerald green water in the country. The pool, Jacuzzi, and workout facility at the Terrace is also available for your use. The pool there has full sun all day, and the Jacuzzi is attached to the pool and heated year round. Sorry, no pets are allowed on the resort.
There are so many wonderful restaurants nearby. Don't miss the Donut Hole for breakfast and the Back Porch for lunch or dinner. Both are landmarks in Destin. Silver Sands, a large factory outlet mall is seven miles east, for those rainy days (if there are any). The brand new Destin Commons outdoor shopping mall is at the corner of the Mid Bay Bridge and 98.
It has a huge movie theater complex, a Hard Rock Cafe, a Bass Pro Fishing shop, Johnny Rockets, and all the mall shops you have come to know and love in a beautiful outdoor setting. Fort Walton Beach also has a new pier to fish off of that is wonderful, and deep sea fishing is right up the street! Destin was a fishing town before it was anything else, so you can come home with quite a catch. For some beautiful sightseeing, take a ride down 30-A to Seaside.
Also, be sure to can check out the new area in Sandestin Resort called Baytowne Wharf. Here you will find lots of shopping and great restaurants overlooking the Choctowatchee Bay. Located eight miles east in the Sandestin Resort on the bayside-don't miss it. For the kids there is bungee jumping, dune buggies, go carts, and a water park right across the street. For the little ones there is a great amusement park a couple miles east on 98. If you want to feel like you have really gotten your money's worth, and have never been to Destin, now is the time to go. No matter how long you stay, it is never enough.

What a disappointment! I have been staying in the Destin area for over 20 years and this is the first time I've been disappointed with my accommodations. Pelican Beach doesn't have nearly enough beach for the number of people in their buildings so you are literally on top on others both on the beach as well as in the ocean or the pool. The pictures of the beach are not at all the reality of the situation. The chair set ups were 4 deep and you could barely walk between the umbrellas and chairs to get to and from the beach. It's such a problem that the buildings on either side of Pelican put up tape resembling crime scene tape declaring their pristine and uncrowded beach off limits to any Pelican vacationers hoping to escape the masses. (And they enforce it just in case you were thinking you could slip over. Trust me, we tried.) The rules about not smoking or drinking in the pool area were not enforced at all and by end of day, there were some pretty rowdy and less than desirable characters in attendance. Thank goodness we were on the first floor so we didn't have to endure the elevator rides or waits. This unit in particular was okay but definitely showing signs of wear and tear. There is a large crater in the middle of the king bed and the bunk mattresses are sqeaky (with the weight of a 45 pound child) and very thin. The carpet in the bedroom was scary dirty and all the drains were slow and backed up before you could adequately shower. I know that it's the end of the season and the unit has probably seen a lot of use over the last couple of months, but I will never again stay at this location. It reminded me more of a spring break destination than a family getaway. If your teenagers are looking for a place to go, they would probably love it.Did you find this review helpful? This was our second year staying here. The furniture has been updated this year and is very nice. We loved the balcony view of the beach front. Weather was perfect. The resort did not have the steam room or dry sauna working. I don't know if it is a fall thing but was a bit dissapointing that not all the amenities were available. Overall, a good stay and a great condo. We will likely book the same unit again next October.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.
