Having stayed in various hotels and rental properties on the island, I would recommend this apartment for anyone looking to stay in a quiet area. The property is good value for money and it is just as described. It is clean, bright and airy, with modern facilities. If you don't mind taking the bus to the main tourist areas, or hiring a car, this is an ideal place to stay. There are beaches within walking distance to the property. Silver Sands beach is about a 5 minute walk away, but the waves can be quite big, hence the number of windsurfers/kitesurfers there. Miami Beach is a great beach about 20 minutes walk away and is a better bet for those that are not strong swimmers. It is just a few minutes on the bus if you don't fancy the walk. The nearest bus stop to the apartment is a few minutes walk away and you can get a bus out of the area going towards Oistins, St Lawrence Gap and Bridgetown right up until almost midnight and they run pretty frequently. There are a couple of convenience stores within a 5 minute walk, although the nearest large supermarket is located in Oistins, which is about a 25 minute walk away (or a short bus ride). Chicken Rita's is right opposite the apartment if you want food and drink. Both the staff and customers were friendly and helpful. The apartment has the added bonus of having 2 plunge pools on the roof. During my 10 days stay, I didn't come across anyone else in the pools at all. They were clean and well maintained and sun loungers and beach towels are provided. All in all, the apartment is great value for money and ideal for those looking to stay in a quiet neighbourhood. Thank you Pat and Marcia! I will definitely be staying here again.

The apartment was great with all the facilities you need for a self catering holiday. The apartment was clean and well maintained and Marcia was very good in arranging the taxi from the airport and to the airport when leaving. We stayed in Maxwell the last time we were in Barbados and just found it a litte out of the way at first but like everything you get used to it. We loved the plunge pools on the top and found them very relaxing after a day out. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives and will use it again when I return to Barbados. One thing I would say is that the walk to Miami Beach is not 15 minutes, its more like 45 minutes.

A home away from home
Dear Pat, This is my review which I cannot post without a facebook account: Coral Haven is more than a home away from home. I must say I really miss the beautiful view on the ocean out of the front door and the rustling of the ocean at night. The living room couch , so comfortable you have to make sure you don't spend your whole holiday falling asleep on it. The beautiful, spacy kitchen with its huge fridge and modern stove, perfect to invite friends over for a nice dinner. If you cant cook or are just too lazy you just have to hop over the street to Chicken Ritas to get some good chicken or fish, along side self-made fries, some rum and if you want a pleasant chat with one of her many customers that come and get together in the evening. A very pleasent surprise was the shower, clean, tidy, fully equipped and most important to me of all, with a strong stream of hot water bursting out of the showerhead. The bedrooms are both very nice and spacy as well, equipped with a huge closet a spacy dresser and two nighttables which also have drawers. I especially loved the bedroom with the ocean view, i badly miss falling asleep hearing the ocean. All in all I had a wonderful time at this beautiful appartment and its surroundings, with all the nice people living there. And even if I would have ended up lonely, which is basically impossible, there would have been the extremely sweet and helpful Marcia. Thank you for your help and support! And also a big thank you to Pat for the effortless and easy communication and organization. I hope to be back soon! Love, Janine

Week at Coral Haven (30/1/13 - 6/2/13)
Dear Pat We had a great holiday again in Barbados - the main problem was that it was too short - 4 weeks seemed to fly by. We enjoyed staying the week at Coral Haven and found the apartment very spacious and comfortable with those lovely views and sea breezes. Marcia made us feel welcome and was very helpful - we even managed to sample one of her excellent chicken meals on the Friday night before heading of to Carib to watch the Red Men. As we have always stayed on the west coast before it was a really interesting week exploring a new part of the Island and using the white ZRs which we hadn't used much in previous years. Thanks again for letting us stay at Coral Haven - we had a wonderful time.

Coral Have - A Haven to Stay
Coral Have - A Haven to Stay
Coral Have – A Haven to stay I arrived at the apartment only a 15 minutes ride from the airport, where I was picked up and greeted by the Owner. On arrival the property was just as it was described on the website, fantastic location, excellent décor throughout and good links to the local, beach and transport. The property has two very large comfortable bedroom, good size kitchen/diner and balcony. On the first day of arrival I was able to sit at the kitchen table and whilst having breakfast, watching the sunrise on the horizon – and what an awesome sight that was. In the evening, having sat on the balcony for a long period of time enjoying the cool breeze that seems to permeate throughout the property, I decided to explore the swimming pool on top of the property, with glass of wine in hand – and what a sight that was, under the stars in the pool, glass in hand and being able to see the skylight of Barbados. I was told that there was very secluded beach close to the property, which I decided to explore at 5am – it took just 10 minutes to walk down and enjoy the morning stroll. The sea was a little rough so did not get in but enjoyed playing on the beach Saturday evening, I went down to Oisten to sample the fried Bajan fish and enjoy the Karaoke evening – again this is just a short bus/taxi ride away from the apartment. During my stay at Coral Haven, I was able to explore the whole of Barbardos, using both buses and taxis and I found the location caused me no problems in terms of getting around – and if I felt like staying close to the apartment to eat, I found Chicken Rita was just a ‘stone’throw’ away, a place frequented by both the local and other visitors to the island on a regular basis. I would highly recommend a stay at Coral Haven, even if it is just for the location, friendliness of the owner, public transport and last but not least the property itself.

Manager response: Thank you Linda for taking the time to post this review of your stay at Coral Haven. We are delighted that you had an enjoyable holiday and that you loved our apartment. It is also good to know that you was able to explore Barbados using public transport. Do get in touch for your next trip as we offer special discounts to returning guests.
From the window that fell out (and I caught just in time), the refrigerator breaking down on the first day, to the construction of the condo creating an oven-like-effect during the fall months, to the owner's refusal to make any accommodations to improve the fans, to not getting even a partial refund after moving out two weeks into a month+ pre-payment, this place was a nightmare. It was so hot at night that I couldn't sleep. There was no breeze this time of year and the apartment is not as close to the beach as the owners (and the Home Away map) make it seem. Compounding the heat problem is that the condo is in an almost-entirely empty condo complex of condos that were never sold. So, situated in the middle of a cinder-block building with few air-conditioning units going, this place baked, especially at night. And if you opened windows, you were subjected to rain squalls or mosquitos. While the layout and looks of the place are nice, and the rooftop plunge pools are nice (I think they're filled by rain water), the location is not very good for surfing (unless you have a car) and the neighbors watch you come and go, not offering much privacy. If you're female, the guys across the way at the Chickenrita's will cat-call you, if they're not drunk and making noise all afternoon and night already. With no internet, phone, and poorly-functioning fans, this place looks lovely, but lacks the practical elements that make a place functional. Locals told me about the woes the condo complex was having---such as, since all the condos are on one water line, if one needs plumbing done, all the water has to be shut off to all units. I was asked to sign a form to get my deposit back, but since I hadn't received any refund on my total deposit for rent, I refused. I had asked the owner if there was anything she could do about the heat---but she didn't care that I was baking in that apartment. There are so many other places with better amenities, more responsive owners, closer to the beach, that are cheaper. Go there.

Bright and Breezy Local Getaway!
Bright and Breezy Local Getaway!
My husband and I are regular visitors to Barbados and this is the first time we have rented a private residence in a residential area. The apartment is lovely and clean and has everything you would need to cater for yourselves, even two sunloungers per room which were very cost effective as we could take them to the beach in the car and avoid chair rental. It being on the second floor allows a great breeze and a great view of the ocean. It is really spacious and we enjoyed having somewhere to relax in any down time. Local residents were warm and friendly and often acknowledged us every morning with a wave or hello. There were a few things we found taxing at times: no phone: it would be useful, especially as local calls are free in Barbados. residential noise: it is worth remembering this is not in a hotel complex therefore you cannot expect tranquility, but initally we were disturbed by the volume of music from a residence nearby. Chicken Rita's (very good fried chicken and chips) is directly over the road and on bank holidays (all day) and Friday nights (until about 10pm) the volume of music hit a level whereby we couldnt hear the TV. We accepted this was part of the residential experience and didnt get annoyed about it but it disrupted us having a peaceful relax indoors. In summary: Pat and Marcia couldnt have been more professional or helpful, the apartment is extremely pleasant to be in and it is very good value (Barbados gets more expensive every year!). Therefore, we feel even though we had 'taxing' experiences, others may not, and the bottom line for us was that it has to be expected considering the location. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there. Thanks to Pat and Marcia.

Manager response: Thank you Tracy for this full and positive review. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay at our apartment. We try to provide the things that guests might need and have taken your feedback about the phone on board. We are still waiting for our cable connection! We are very sorry to hear about the residential nuisance and hope this was merely due to the holidays. I will pass your compliments to Marcia. Thank you, Pat.

Dear Pat, I did what you asked for: writing a review. But: For sending it is a must to make a login with facebook. This is what I totally dislike because I NEVER will join facebook. I am sorry. So I give you my text as a copy (many mistakes, bad expressions, sorry again). The text is yours now - do with it whatever you want to. Within the next days I will look to my pictures and then I will send you the one where we both are enjoying the roof ... So long, best wishes Gabi REVIEW: The property is very well-maintained, comfortable with a nice oceanview. When cloudy or in the evening we loved to sit on the balcony. Just opposite there is an eating house where people come after sunset. The roof platform is a really nice place to stay and to be refreshed by the water in the little pool and the permanent wind. Walking about 10 minutes you get to a beautiful little beach, few frequented, nearby a bar to relax. We recommend to rent a car from the first day for shopping, using the internet in a café etc in Oistins where you can get within 10 min by car. This is a location to stay individually and feel like home.

Perfect location on the south coast
Perfect location on the south coast
The south coast is the best part of the whole island. It's quiet and away from busy roads and tourist resorts. This means you get to meet a lot of the locals and get to find out what barbados really has to offer, which in my eyes is the best way to do it. The south part of the island has a constant cool breeze which definatly helps you cool off and helps keep the rooms cooler at night. But thats not to say that it is still really hot with plenty of sun traps and empty small beaches. I've stayed in quite a few places on the south coast but this apartment has definatly been one of the best places. If you're into surfing then Freights and Southpoint are well within walking distance which is perfect. Miami beach and oistins is only a 15min walk away as well so perfect for going to the fish fry on a friday night. If you're into your fishing then there are a couple of great fishing spots just down from the apartment. Pick up a cheap handline and catch yourself some dinner. The #11 ZR vans run from right behind the apartments which will take you anywhere up the coast for $2. They stop at bridgetown ZR port. It goes past all the popular south/westcoast beaches, the gap, oistins and bridgetown so there really is no need to spend a fourtune on taxis or petrol. Right opposite is Chicken rita's. it's the best fried chicken on the island by far. I could spend every night sat outside drinking rum with the locals. It's a very friendly neighbourhood and you will get to know the locals in no time. I'd stay here time and time again as it is a fantastic apartment, at a fantastic price, in a fantastic location. Thank you so much Pat and Marcia
