Apts & Houses in a Unique, Inspiring Location Restored by Sculptor - Studiolo Apartment, sleeping 4 to 6

The two apartments described below are part of the beautiful peaceful hamlet of Peralta, located in a spectacular setting in the Tuscan hills that rise high above the valley of Camaiore. With stunning, panoramic views over the valley to the hills and sea beyond and surrounded by terraces of olive groves, its stone walls covered with purple bougainvilleas, lemon trees, jasmine, Peralta seems like paradise, a place for people seeking tranquility and beauty. There is a swimming pool on an upper terrace with a panoramic view towards the sea. The large terrace in front of Peralta is a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine, enjoy the sunsets and meet other guests.
The hamlet was restored with great love and imagination by international sculptor Fiore de Henriquez. She created a place that is quite unique and very inspiring for anyone with creative tendancies. Peralta was Fiore's home up to her death in June 2004, and one can see her work all through the hamlet. Her sculpture everywhere, and the manner in which she restored and designed the hamlet give it very special atmosphere and character.
We are surrounded by lovely walking country with marked trails through the olive groves and hills dense with chestnut trees and known for their wild flowers in spring and autumn. Walks range from 50 minutes to a delightful restaurant in an adjoining village, to three hours up to the peak of the Mount Prana above Peralta.
Peralta offers various self catering accommodation sleeping from 2 to 8 and 4 additional bedrooms with bathrooms. As described more fully further down the page, the whole hamlet sleeps 30 or so and can be booked in its entirety for parties. Many a family party or important birthday has been celebrated here!
A previous guest offered this description of Peralta :
'The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff have a rare quality of being there but conspicuously absent unless needed. This adds to the quietude of the place, giving a feel of personal space and privacy. It has a sense of a well-run hotel, without the formality, and the ambiance of a private villa without the expense. I was fortunate to have cast an eye over a few of the other properties available; all are very well appointed and would not fail to please.
Whether you’re wanting to collect your thoughts, explore the region, write a novel, or paint a masterpiece this has to be the place to visit.'
Studiolo Apartment, sleeping 4 to 6: Pieve Di Camaiore Vacation Rental by Owner Listing 804929ha
This lovely apartment was originally an artist’s studio. The living room has full length windows, facing south, with a spectacular view over the valley of Camaiore to the hills beyond and the sea. On very clear days we can see Corsica outlined on the horizon. The winter sunsets are fabulous. The spacious room with its high sloping ceiling has a seating area with a large sofa and very comfortable chairs. The dining table seats six and the open plan kitchen area is fully equipped for all culinary needs. The lovely old marble sink gives great character to the room. There are two double bedrooms, one of which can also be a twin room. Two bathrooms with showers. The bedrooms look out onto the olive groves and are very quiet, and cool in the summer months. There is an attic bedroom, ideal for children, with two single beds (see below). The apartment has its own private entrance and terrace.

I have had the pleasure of visiting Peralta on many occasions for work and pleasure and have loved every minute, the location, the accommodation, the facilities and staff are incredible and whenever I find myself remotely near Tuscany I find it impossible to resist. Close to many stunning Tuscan cities like Pisa, Florence and Lucca, around the corner and equally beautiful is Pietrasanta and Camaiore. It's perfect as a retreat to laze around and enjoy the tranquility high in the Tuscan hills and plenty to do in terms of treks and forest walks, for me it's opening a bottle of prosecco, filling up on local cheeses and salami, sitting on the beautiful sun terrace checking out the awesome views of the valley and sunset over the Mediterranean coastline. Peralta is steeped in history, delving into it's past and uncovering tales you find an added charm, the dotted around sculpture and art also make Peralta an inspiring place to be creative. I look forward to visiting again. Chi vediamo presto. Ciao Tutti. Room Tip: 'Casa Luigi' is a favourite but 'Studiolo' is now looking great with it's makeoverDid you find this review helpful? Just returned from a fabulous holiday in Peralta. We stayed in Studiolo and were painting and sketching in the area. There are lots of places to visit that are near by and the highlights for me were visits to Lucca - the religious procession was very moving; Pietrasanta is full of the most wonderful sculptures and Colonata, near Carrara for the marble. It is a tranquil place, high in the Tuscan hills. A car is essential, but do hire a small car as the roads are very narrow with perilous hairpin bends. There is a lot of climbing up steps, not so good for the unfit, but its surprising how fit you do become after a few days.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Why the Owner Chose Pieve Di Camaiore:
Intenrational sculptor Fiore de Henriquez lived in the area of Camaiore due to its proximity to the Carrara marble quarries and the bronze foundries of nearby Pietrasanta. In the 1970's she found the small hamlet of Peralta, perched on the hillside above Camaiore. It was remote, served only by a footpath, and the buildings were mainly in ruins - their inhabitants having left in the mid 1950's due to the hard living in the hills. No water nor electricity at this time. Fiore fell in love with the hamlet and managed to gradually buy the various houses. She then set about restoring them and the hamlet and created the very unique place that exists today. She died in 2004 and the hamlet was then taken over by a very good friend who owns it today. Repairs and renovations are undertaken where necessary, but the essential essence of the hamlet remains the same as when Fiore was alive. It is the home of her archive and sculptures, which can be seen throughout the grounds and in the various accommodation.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
It is hard to describe the absolute charm and beauty of Peralta and why I am so passionate about it. I now own it and am as much in love with it as Fiore before me. Every corner has its surprises, small details to delight the eye. The wisterias and bougainvilleas offer vibrant colour and essential shade. The views are wonderful, changing with the light, with the weather, with the season. Sunsets are magic. Early morning mist lying in the valley. The sight of Corsica on a clear day. The large bronze sculpture of 'The Phoenix' on the main terrace about to fly off over the valley. Fiore used to say it signifies 'Peralta rising from the ashes'. The many sculptures Fiore left for visitors to enjoy on the terraces. Her private gallery which I love to show to guests and one evening a week, at aperitivo time, I invite any guests staying at Peralta to a viewing of the gallery and Fiore's original house I hope many visitors will find their way to Peralta and enjoy it as much I do ......... possibly even fall in love with it!
