This one-bedroom two-story apartment is in an attractive restored 17th century house on a quiet, light-filled square in Lourmarin, widely recognised as one of the "most beautiful villages in France" (see link below for information on Lourmarin)
The apartment provides ample accommodation for a couple or a family with one small child. The first floor has a sitting area, dining area and corner kitchen giving onto a small south-facing terrace overlooking the village church and a fountain.
The second floor consists of an oak-beamed bedroom with a small ensuite bathroom. The house is fully and comfortably furnished with a mixture of antiques, art pieces, bric-à-brac and a lot of books.
There is a comfortable modern queen-sized bed, a satellite T.V. and an audio cassette player with a large and eclectic collection of music. (For families with one small child, we can provide a crib or a special small fold-out bed.)The kitchen has a refrigerator/freezer, two electric cooking rings, a counter-top oven, and a generous supply of kitchen utensils. The bathroom, though small, has a modern shower and recently renovated plumbing.
There is also a small private laundry room with a new washer and dryer.
The 'Petite Maison' has been furnished with care and attention to detail, and has a very cosy feel. Previously it belonged to an editor from Gallimard Publishing House who used it as a 'pied-à-terre' when working on a book with Catherine Camus about her father, Albert Camus.
Lourmarin, has been officially designated as "one of the most beautiful villages in France". Many writers and artists have lived here, among them Camus, who is buried in the village cemetery.
The village is also well-known for its fourteen fine restaurants, including Reine Sammut's Michelin starred "Auberge La Fenière". Reine is among the talented few to win the coveted title of "Best Woman Chef in France". Lourmarin is much visited all year round for its lively atmosphere and chic shops and art galleries. It is also an excellent base from which to explore Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Arles, the Luberon villages and the Camargue.

The Unique Benefits at this house
Lourmarin is a wonderful mix... an authentic Provencal village with a village school, a playground, a tennis club, a great soccer team, a dynamic and charismatic mayor, a library. And you get all the stuff that tourists need, too- a great choice of restaurants, cafés and bars, good shops, art galleries. In the Petite Maison, you are located right in the heart of all this. And the village people are friendly ! A great opportunity to join in our village life.
Owner's Map of Lourmarin
We've been living in the Luberon for.....sooo many years. Twenty to be exact. In fact, our daughter who is just about that age now was born here. So was our son, Pierre, who is now 6'3" and over 15 years old. Anyway, we love the life we have in Lourmarin. We eat very well, drink good wine almost every day and we've made lots of wonderful friends from all over the world running our rental business here !
