Why the Owner Chose Kilauea
My first visit to Kauai was in 1980 and it was indeed "love at first sight". Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, I had lived in CA all my life. While visiting Kauai in December 1999 anticipating the change into the year 2000, I was introduced to RiverSong and my life was forever changed ....See for yourself how very special it is at RiverSong
The Unique Benefits at this Bed & Breakfast
RiverSong has the ability to adapt to each guests personal wants and wishes. If you want a quiet, all by yourself vacation experience, that is indeed possible. If however you want to learn more about the island, it's hidden beauty and interact with our family, that too is possible. The choice is yours.
We want to help make this a truly memorable vacation experience for each of you.

Great house, great host!

We stayed with Nicki over the New Year. We rented the upstairs bedroom, but when she discovered we had a four-year-old with us she volunteered her grandkids' bedroom rather than letting us put him on the pull-out in the room we'd rented. In this and other ways she gave us the run of the house (or rather crawl: we had a baby with us, too) and made us feel very much at home. The house, too, is really wonderful, a pleasure to see, and to stay in. The river nearby keeps the local temperature reasonable and provides wonderful white noise for sleeping, quite in addition to making for a beautiful view from the balcony. She kept the place tidy and was unobtrusive, there when we wanted her, not when we didn't. She gave us excellent advice on where to go and what to do. The house itself is really lovely and a pleasure to be in, and Nicki is simply the perfect hostess.
Owner response:It has been a true gift to be able to share RiverSong B&B for the past 10 years. Each guest is special to us and we try to individualize each and every one's stay.
Recommended for:Families with young children.

I am ashamed that I have not written this review months ago. We stayed with Nicky in February, 2010 and, as experienced travelers and ardent b and b supporters, we have placed RiverSong at the top of our list of b and b's. Her guest room is exceptionally well furnished and comfortable. Nicki is a wonderfully warm host who welcomes poeple into her lovely home, provides excellent breakfasts, and is a fountain of information about the history and attractions of this beautiful area. She is intimately aware of the details of local activities, "hidden" spots to find and she readily shares these with her guests. RiverSong can be a refuge from the hurly-burly of travel where you can spend your time in peace listening to the river below your balcony or you can, with Nicki's help, find a multitude of things to see and places to go. We had two unexpected events while with Nicki (the tsunami scare and a nearby house fire) and we admired her capacity to deal with both with intellgence, appropriate action and care for those involved. All in all, we consider Nicki to be a true firend and look forward to a visit from her here on Vancouver Island sometime in the near future. Lorraine and Harry Hill
Owner response:Making great new friends like Lorraine and Harry is one of the true joys of sharing this special place we call RiverSong. We welcome the return of our previous guests(now dear friends) and look forward to meeting many more in the years to come.

Someone once said, "Strangers are just friends we have yet to meet." Nicki is an absolutely wonderful hostess and quickly became a dear friend. She provided us with a lovely, tranquil "home away from home" and our time at RiverSong was both restful and restorative. We are planning to return as soon as we can to avail ourselves of the loveliness of RiverSong, Nicki's warm friendship and delicious morning meals. Thanks, Nicki. Lucy A Kawate
Owner response:We are truly blessed to have found such lovely friends in our guests and look forward to sharing more time with them on return visits.

Nicki is a wonderful hostess and does everything exactly right. We felt like welcome guests in her lovely B&B suite. The accommodations are delightful, private, and quiet. We had a sense of being "home away from home." Her attention to detail and easy style made our stay at RiverSong (just ended on May 24, 2008) a true delight. It was hard to leave Kilauea and RiverSong. We would gladly stay there again and again. If you want a special Kaua'i experience, I heartily recommend staying at RiverSong. "The soul should always stand ajar, ready to welcome the ecstatic experience." ~Emily Dickinson
Owner response:We appreciate the opportunity to share this wonderful, magical location of RiverSong with our guests. We want all of them to feel that this is truly their "home away from home" and I am delighted that Kate and Gary sensed that. We look forward to our circle of friends and family ever increasing.
