If you are lucky you may see a turtle or two wander up to lay their eggs on the sand.

This is our family beach home – we are lucky enough to visit often. It has been an amazing place to watch the kids grow up and share incredible experiences with them. My youngest daughter was only three when we built our home, she learned to swim and dive in our pool, as have many of her friends over the years. We have watched turtles lay their eggs on our beach, watched the eggs hatch, seen dolphins swim and play, made sand castles, gone snorkeling and learned to surf. We have walked our dogs on the beach at sunrise and sunset. My favorite birthdays and celebrations have been here. It is truly wonderful and we are blessed to have this home and share it with others.
Why the Owner Chose Puerto Escondido
It is close to Puerto Escondido airport and only a beautiful hour's drive from Huatulco International airport. Puerto has fantastic food shops, surf shops and amenities. There are delicious restaurants and bars with live music in the evenings.And of course, it is home to Mexico´s premier surfing beach, Zicatela. There are also great beaches to learn surfing (and wonderful instructors), deep sea fishing, eco-tours and a huge variety of daytime activities. Cumana offered us the chance to enjoy an unspoilt beach and live on the sea. It has been an incredible experience for my family to see whales, dolphins, turtles all from our own home. We have spent incredible vacations there with friends and family, we always have magical times!

Our honeymoon in Villa Lumina was our best wedding gift! Since we arrived we enjoyed the peace and warmth of the place, the beautiful sea view, with its cool breeze. A romantic paradise for two, a perfect place for love, pleasure, connection... We enjoyed every moment and each space in the house: the spacious and comfortable room; the wonderful pool and its jacuzzi, to swim and relax; the large kitchen to prepare fresh, delicious food; the lounge that was also our dancing floor... and a bit beyond, the beach, to dance or walk at sunset or under the stars. All the time with the amazing opportunity to be in touch with the world via internet or mobile phone while drinking a cold coconut from the garden! And finally a great massage for two overlooking the sea… Better than a dream!! A place where passion may flow! Pasar nuestra Luna de Miel en Villa Lumina fue nuestro mejor regalo de bodas! Desde que llegamos nos recibió la paz y calidez del lugar, la vista maravillosa del mar, con su fresca brisa... Solo nosotros dos en ese paraíso romántico, un lugar perfecto para el amor, el descanso, el placer y la comunicación... Just What I Needed!

This was my first vacation in a while, and Villa Lumina was one HELL of a choice. Wow. The house was amazing. HUGE. At first, I thought the pool was a little redundant, but it turned out to be a really nice touch - sitting in the pool, sipping margaritas and watching the sun set on the ocean was just perfect. The view is just...words fail me. And since I'm not much of an ocean swimmer, I spent more time in the pool, anyway! I didn't have a car when I went, but it didn't matter. The main road was a short, easy and beautiful walk away. Buses come all the time, so getting into town was easy. Puerto Escondido is worth a look as well - picturesque cantinas, a well-stocked supermarket and round-the-clock restaurants and bars! The house itself has everything you need. Stop at the supermarket on your way to the house and you'd never need to leave. The staff is almost unbelievably helpful. I wish I could remember the groundskeeper's name; he was the coolest. I really put that poor guy out with my ineptitude with basic household appliances, but he was always happy to help out, no worries at all. On top of that, I had booked a cook, at my friend's recommendation, and it was WELL worth it. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, and never the same thing twice. AND she was a genius in the kitchen (which, itself was pretty amazing). The rooms were surprisingly cool, as hot as it was outside, and comfortable. The main bedroom had a DVD player and tons of films to choose from, for those evenings when I just wanted to lie in bed and couldn't sleep (be good for kids too, now that I think of it). And by the way, the house feels wide open, and that's great, but I was concerned about security, but I needn't have worried. The rooms come with strong lock boxes for valuables so there was nothing to worry about at all. I don't know what else to add. I already feel like a commercial for the place, but it really was the best vacation I have ever had. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

This place is incredible! The pictures don't do justice to this spectacular place. We went with kids and everybody had a great and relaxing time. The pool location is very well planned, the kids stay there all day and we enjoyed zipping wine while overlooking at them and the beach. Rooms were nice and spread out; we all felt we had adequate privacy. The beach is beautiful! We hardly saw anybody walking by; the beach was just for us. I love this house. The staff was also very warm and friendly.

My husband and I stayed at Villa Lumina with two other couples and five children, our ages spanning from sixty eight to six. Everyone had a great time! Villa Lumina was perfect for all of us, loads of space for different activities, plenty of privacy too. The pictures of the property can't really convey the beauty and spaciousness of the place. The dining table for fourteen has a wide open view to the Pacific Ocean, and the long, leisurely lunches there remain one of my favorite memories. The beach right in front of the villa is fantastic, with very few people passing by. Often we were the only ones on the beach that we could see. Sunrise and sunset walks were otherworldly. Villa Lumina is very well maintained and staffed, and more than comfortable. Nearby, Puerto Escondito offers a great market (incredible fresh fish) and well stocked grocery stores, as well as a number of nice spots for a meal or a drink. There are also a number of eco-tourist type activities, including fantastic bird watching and a turtle refuge nearby. I would recommend Villa Lumina to anyone who loves the ocean, the sun and great weather. Perfect for family reunions or other groups, the place would also be fantastic for a getaway for just a few people. The owner is incredibly helpful and nice, and has known the area for more than 20 years.

This is the best place to stay in Puerto Escondido. Its open, airy and expansive layout give you the best of the sea in a luxurious way. 12-15 minutes from the center of Puerto and 30 minutes from Mazunte, you have access to all that this beach community has to offer if you can tear yourself away. The rooms are simple, spotless and contemporary. The open kitchen with a view to the ocean is perfect for cooking for big families. The reflection of the trees and sky in the pool is stunning. A miscelaneous store is minutes away in case you need something to eat or drink. A caretaker visits every day to clean the pool and check on things. The photos can't capture the light, beauty and ambiance of the place. I would highly recommend this property and do when my friends ask where they should stay in Oaxaca.

Villa Lumina is beautiful. A big house right on the beach and away from the hustle and bustle of the city; I went there when my wife and I split. I was a mess, but the time I spent there was well worth the cost. It allowed me to relax and reflect on what had happened, recharge my batteries, and get on with my life. My only complaint is that I can't live there forever! I will return at my next opportunity, no question. There's plenty to do, too. I didn't have a car, but it was an easy walk to the road, where I was able to catch a bus into Puerto Escondido, where there was shopping, nice cantinas, and just a picturesque Mexican small town. I can't recommend it highly enough!
