We invite you to be our guest at Sea Mountain #24. Here you will find a beautiful spot on the south shore located conveniently midway between Hilo and Kona. Colony 1 makes a great "base camp" for your Big Island adventures. Located away from the crowds, traffic and vog of the Kona coast, Punaluu is a hidden gem with great weather all year round.
Unlike some other 1-bedrooms advertised at Sea Mountain that are ground floor studios, ours is a split-level, true 1-bedroom unit. The bedroom & bathroom are on the 1st level and the living room, full-size kitchen, dining area and lanai are on the 2nd level. This arrangement allows for a quiet, private sleeping area and a bright, airy living room & kitchen with a lovely view from the 2nd floor lanai. All the comforts of home and plenty of room to spread out.
Consider our fully equipped condo your home away from home. The bedroom is downstairs with a brand new king size bed, ceiling fan and even has it's own turtle. The living room is upstairs & has a large wooden vaulted ceiling w/ fan. The queen size sofa bed comfortably sleeps two. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to create easy & tasty meals (with recipe books on grilling & cocktails - blender included of course), and coffee grinder & maker (to enjoy your delicious Kona coffee). The dining room seats four and the lanai has a table with two chairs as well as two chaise lounges. All have views of the ocean. We also have games and a DVD/VCR player with a video library for your viewing enjoyment. And we now have wireless internet.

Private, secluded but close to a variety of adventures in the Volcano Park, eastern tip of the island and south point area. We truly had a wonderful time in Hawaii and your home was the focal point to allow us to enjoy each day so thoroughly. The process of renting your unit was extremely easy and it was great value. The prior to arrival email provided us with the right amount of detail and directions to shopping and then on the unit. We enjoyed the book you put together about the sites on the island and used it to make decisions about what to see. The unit was exactly as described and shown on the website, inside and out. The view was wonderful and the complex is very quiet and relaxing.

Why the Owner Chose Punaluu
We both fell in love with the Big Island a few years ago. No matter how many times we go, there is always more to see & do. We chose this condo primarily for its location. Close to Volcano National Park & only an hour away from Hilo, our favorite city on the Big Island. The black sand beach is a 10-minute walk & its nice to visit it early before all the tour buses get there. That is a great time to see the turtles resting on the beach. We love that the complex is fairly secluded and quiet, a rare thing in todays busy world. The beautiful and peaceful setting instantly relaxes us. The view from our lanai is one of our favorite spots to spend time reading/eating/relaxing.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Colony One/Sea Mountain is a unique place. The setting & location are wonderful & unusual. The complex is well maintained & small enough to stay friendly. People say hello to each other as they walk past & lots of conversations are started while lounging in the pool/hot tub area. Since buying our unit, we have spent a lot of time fixing it up & making it as comfortable as possible for our guests. Being a ex-tour guide, I have put together a binder of things to do while visiting the Big Island, including favorite beaches, restaurants, hikes & hidden treasures. Your place was set up with everything we required.Your decorating is really nice and the accommodations very comfortable. It became our home away from home. We did a lot of travelling over the Big Island and it was always nice to return to ’home’.

The process of renting was fine. It could have been more automated for some but I like the personal emails back and forth. The value for price was good. The prior to arrival information was outstanding.The unit was perfect for my mom and me. I was afraid the fold-out couch would be uncomfortable but it wasn't and I slept very well on it. I loved being so close to black sand beach and the sea turtles. The shower is awesome. If I come back to the Big Island I will definitely stay with you again. I would highly recommend your condo to anyone coming to Hawaii.

Unit 24 exceeded our expectations. It was extremely neat and clean and very well stocked with dishes, towels, etc. We enjoyed our stay as we love the location and the view from the lanai. Extremely peaceful and the best sleep I've had in months. Could really relax. Definitely would consider return stay.

I just wanted to tell you how much we LOVED your place. It was the perfect location, the kitchen had everything we needed to be able to cook and have meals there, and we loved the fact that it was an upstairs unit so we could get the view and the breeze flowing through.
