It offers the best of both worlds: the serenity of a private mountain home and the nearby activities, shops, and restaurants in Helen. You can retreat from the world or you can go into Helen and enjoy all the festivities...it's your choice!
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet
From curling up by the fireplace to relaxing in the Hot Tub, it's a wonderful place to retreat from the daily hustle and bustle of work and life. We enjoy the spaciousness of the home, especially while relaxing in the Great Room or in the sitting area of the upstairs Loft overlooking the Great Room below.
Another favorite: sitting and drinking coffee on the covered balcony of the Master Bedroom Suite upstairs...so private and peaceful!
The two skylights over the king sized bed in the Master Bedroom Suite offer a nice view of the stars in the mountain skies, especially on clear or colder days. Nights with a full moon are a special treat!

UNICOI LAKE [AKA Smith Lake on Smith Creek] is located in UNICOI STATE PARK: Small Public Fishing Dock, Seasonal Public Beach/swimming Area, Seasonal Canoe Rentals. UNICOI LODGE has a RESTAURANT with fresh trout and a wide variety of food. GIFT SHOP in the lodge. About 5 to 7 minutes from our home, Mountain Laurel Chalet. RICHARD RUSSELL Scenic highway [GA 348]: another great SCENIC MOUNTAIN DRIVE that crosses the Appalachian Trail. To get to Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest mountain, take GA Hwy 348 to the dead end at GA 180. Turn Right onto GA 180, then turn Left onto GA Spur 180. This will take you to the top of Brasstown Bald. **NOTE: GA Hwy 348 and GA Hwy Spur 180 may be closed during snowy or icy conditions.

I don't know where to start, but each and everytime we've rented this beautiful Chalet it has been a wonderful experience. We always enjoy having my large family come visit us while staying and watch the wildlife from the wraparound porch, hiking the mountain, visiting Unicoi and of course Helen. Looking forward to coming in 2012.

upon arrival this reservation was unacceptable, bathrooms were not clean and hot tub was cold full of leaves and a dead mouse, so we didnt stay.
Owner response:I was quite shocked to read this review since we have not had any problems of this nature in the past. My sincere apologies to this guest! Please contact me. We will make corrective amends with you. Thank you! We contacted the local management company in Helen to address their problems with the cleaning and maintenance of our home during 2011. We have now changed the management and cleaning service for our home as of January...these prior problems with the agency have been resolved for 2012!

We really enjoyed this cabin for the 4 nights. It was quiet and secluded but close to enough to Helen and Unicoi to have many activities. While we only had two of us, the place had plenty of space for more people.

The property is very isolated and quiet. A great get-away. The house is beautiful and well kept. It is very clean. It is easy to get to, only a 10 minute drive from downtown Helen, Ga.
