C-204 Exceeded All Expectations

Everything about the condo--and my stay--was perfect. I arrived to find the unit immaculate--and even nicer and larger than I'd expected from the photos. But the best surprise was how close it actually is to the ocean. I loved lying on the chaise lounge on the lanai and listening to the ocean. It lulled me to sleep several times. In fact, it was hard to leave that lanai at all. Being late July I'd been a bit concerned that it would be too warm without a/c -- but the breeze kept the temps perfect. The walking path just outside the condo has always been one of my favorite places to stroll. It was nice to be able to walk to some of my favorite restaurants, as well -- Kountry Kitchen for breakfast and Scotty's BBQ for dinner. Enjoyed the pool and Jacuzzi at the complex. I'm a frequent visitor to the island and have stayed in many vacation rentals. I couldn't have been happier than I was with C-204. It was exceptionally well stocked and the owners were a pleasure to deal with. The only thing wrong was that I had to leave :-( Jason Nashville, TN

A great start for our Hawaii vacation

We stayed in the Pono Kai unit C204 at the end of May 2010. This condo was exactly what we were looking for in the Kapaa area. The central location was perfect for visiting the east and north sides of Kauai before we moved over to Kekaha to spend time on the other side of the island. The 2nd floor beachfront location and the proximity to the water gave us beautiful sunrises in the morning and allowed us to listen to the waves falling asleep at night (and a rooster or 2 in the morning). We liked the homey atmosphere and all of the ammenities provided by the owner. Although you could be perfectly satisfied relaxing by the beach at the condo, we used the place mainly as a base camp for daily visits to the north shore beaches, hiking the Napali coast trail, kayaking on Hanalei Bay and just cruising around the small towns, sightseeing on this part of the island. Other than our luau night, we stayed in for relaxing evenings drinking mai-tais and eating fresh cooked dinners on the lanai. They would consist of whatever the daily catch from the Hanalei fish market was, done up tropical style on the resort BBQ downstairs. In addition to the typically-expected dishes, cookware and utility items, the kitchen had everything necessary, including appliances, spices, containers for leftovers as well as a variety of condiments and other things left by previous guests. The BBQ & kitchen allowed us to spend much less on going out for meals and more for the activities we really wanted to do. Most evenings ended with a trip down to the pool and spa for a relaxing nighttime swim and soak before calling it a day. We also appreciated the other things the owners have there for your use, especially the picnic coolers and boogie boards. The recently-installed internet connection worked flawlessly and provided a good way to plan our activities which in turn allowed us to avoid using the concierge service downstairs but that was always there if one should need it. In summary, we hope to come back to Kapaa on a future trip and if so would definitely stay here again. Likewise we would not be hesitant at all to recommend this condo to friends for a nice quiet location to base a Kauai vacation.

Pono Kai

Very nice condo in a perfect location, right smack in the middle of north and south of the island, right on the water, looking out of the condo you feel as if you are right on top of the ocean. We loved it! Clean and ready for your arrival. The front desk and conceirge were very helpful with our adventures. Not the big fancy resort that we don't care to stay in, this condo feels like it's very individual when you're inside. Outside is peaceful, quiet and not at all like the 'Disney' type resorts. We will be back! Next trip there should be about a dozen of us!

Great condo right on the beach. Unit was clean and very well stocked. Can't wait to get back for another visit to Paradise. Resort was in a great location and beautifully maintained.
