The condo was beautiful and very comfortable for my family. It's very large and very clean. Working with the owner was an absolute joy! We definitely would like to return someday and book the same place. The pool area is awesome too!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

The condo was perfect for our family. The location is great- close to the most beautiful beaches. We enjoyed the lanai- breakfast every morning outside and star gazing in the evening. Pool at the complex was nice also. Condo was equipped with everything we needed:Kitchen supplies, beach chairs and towels, boogie boards..and shopping was nearby to pick up food and supplies. We would stay here again when we return to Maui and would highly recommend it to others.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

When we checked into the VRBO property in Maui we had booked, I started to cry. It was so dingy and horrible---and I frantically started emailing other VRBO property owners---on Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend. I had very little hope that we could rent something nice that weekend. Lucky for us, Bonnie emailed me Sunday morning and let us know the condo was available for the remaining 5 nights we were going to be in Maui. We connected by phone and she let us inspect the condo to make sure it was suitable while she tracked down her cleaner (since it had just been rented out and still needed to be cleaned). We were thrilled when we were able rent it. The condo is beautiful---tastefully decorated and very comfortable---in a beautiful complex. Plenty of towels and a kitchen with all the trimmings. A wonderful deck on which to sit in the morning and evening. We are so grateful---Bonnie and her beautiful condo literally saved our vacation!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Could not have enjoyed our stay more! Perfectly located in Wailea . . . Close to everything! The condo is very large, with a great lanai. You even get some really great views of the ocean. The condo is very well maintained and stocked with everything you could need for your stay. The kitchen is exceptional. Great for families . . . Our kids loved watching the geckos on the lanai, and had plenty of room to roam in the condo, and on the grounds. We hope to return again soon!Recommended for: Families with young children.

I have to start my review by saying that I'm the type of person who will find a place 98% good, and I'll focus on how we could have made the other 2% better. So let me start by saying this place was 98% good!! We looked around all of Maui while we were there, and the Palms are definitely one of the better built condo developments. Overall I have to say that this unit gave us a great time, well air conditioned, comfortable beds. Clean linens, lots of beach paraphernalia. Quiet location. Lovely on-site pool and hot-tub. The owner was perfect during the booking process, and we would have no hesitance in recommending this as a place to stay for our family and friends. That said, a couple of minor things detract from the condition of this condo: kitchen cabinetry is cheap and one of the large pantry doors was coming off its hinges. Some horizontal surfaces (like the marble edge around the backsplash in the kitchen) had obviously not seen a wipe-down in a couple months. The place was almost perfectly clean, but some of the more nitty-gritty details showed that a thorough, detailed cleaning is due. A couple of flourscent tubes in the bathroom did not light up consistently, leading to some "apply makeup in the dark" sessions for my wife. Overall, no complaints... and with a few touch-up restorations and maintenance, this place could be perfect.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: We always appreciate comments and reviews from our guests. All new kitchen cabinets just arrived and will be installed as soon as we have an opening. This condo is so popular we stay booked up well in advance. Upgraded designer wood cabinets are replacing the ones put in 5 years ago by the former owner. Admittedly they did a terrible job and the cabinets did not last well even though they are only 5 years old. Reference light bulbs: Replacement bulbs are in the condo for our guests, and they have the name and number of our on island manager to replace or repair any items during their stay. No one was notified about the lights, however, I just contacted my handyman to look into this matter immediately. We take great pride in our vacation rentals and want to make sure everything is not only good but great. Thank you. Dr. & Mrs. Terry Alfriend

About the owner: We live in Pebble Beach, CA, have two grown children and 4 grandchildren. All of us are scuba divers thus the wonderful waters of Maui have always been a love for us. Terry and Bonnie Alfriend have been coming to Maui for many years and in 2005 purchased their first condo in Kihei. Terry was working on research projects at The Technical Park in Kihei. Since that time they have added 2 condos in The Palms at Wailea. They also own two condos in the World Famous Sandpearl Resort and Spa in Clearwater Beach, FL, all of which are rented out as vacation rentals. Bonnie has a business background in real property and builder consulting so she enjoys renting and managing and remodeling the properties with the finest of decor and amenities.

After searching for many months we choose The Palms at Wailea because they have the best potential for remodel. The complex was built using the most advance design making a total renovation much better than the neighboring communities. Also the stucco exterior is more appealing and has better life than the wooden buildings near by. Wailea and Makena are the most prestigious communities in Maui and the most desirable due to the world class golf courses, the many amazing beaches and the newest of all communities in Wailea. The traffic is not congested as the northwest side. All in all the best place on the island in our opinion.
