Did you find this review helpful? We enjoyed our stay in the house. An island in the center of Venice to relax of walks and visits. Spacious location, furnished with care and well equipped. It felt a bit as if we were staying at friends house. Close to vaporetto and several sites to visit (Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Accademia Art Gallery, Salute Church, Punta della Dogana) as well as several good restaurants. Very good contact with the owner.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A very comfortable and cosy house which was perfect for our family party of six adults and two children. The photographs are a true representation of what you will find but what they don't show is the wealth of fascinating "bits and bobs" - we loved the huge collection of books. Tess and her family proved to be excellent, friendly and unobtrusive hosts - we were met at the Salute vaporetto stop upon arrival and taken to the house, shown around and then left to our our own devices. If problems arise Tess is easily contacted and is very quick to respond. The position of the house is absolutely great - literally a stone's throw from the Peggy Guggenheim it is very quiet but ideally placed for easy access to just about everywhere in Venice. This is our fourth visit to Venice and our third stay in Dorsoduro - we love the location and would not hesitate to recommend this excellent, self catering option. The Billa supermarket, about 15 minutes walk along the Zattere, is well stocked and can provide everything you'll need for eating in. Our favourite local restaurants are the Taverna San Trovaso and the closely related Ristorante San Trovaso - virtually identical menus at both but the Taverna also serves pizza.Did you find this review helpful? this is a gem in every sense of the word if you like authentic venetian and we love it. the house is in a quiet side calle really close to all the amenities. so getting around, shopping or just enjoying venetian life is never far away. the house and garden are a haven of peace and quiet. tess makes you feel at home from minute 1 and is most helpful with any request you may have. it is definitely to be recomended and we will be back ourselves. obviously venice is a walking city so everybody needs to follow their own likes. however i recommend dropping into one of the many bacari for chicetti and hombre(small glasses of wine) and i ususually plan my journeys so i can do that.my 2 favourites are the one on fondamente nani opposite the old shipyard and the one near the ca doro i think in the calle pistor. but there are many other good ones and it is probably the most authentic venetian lunch. as far as restaurants go the della madona in the same calle and da romano on burano are always worth a visitRecommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We were met, as arranged, and escorted to the house - it is in a very quiet authentic part of Dorsorduro, close to the Academia, the Peggy Guggenheim, the Zatterre and vaporetta stops -with so much walking to do, it is perfect for everywhere! The house was spacious, clean, and beautifully furnished with antiques and comfortable beds - in fact the pictures do not do it justice. The bathrooms ( with towels)were all good and the kitchen was very well equipped for self catering. As a group of 6 with a baby(cot provided) we had more than enough space and the garden was a fantastic luxury for Venice! Shopping in Venice is very different to the UK and although there is a good supermarket 10/15 mins walk away, we would have liked to try some local shopping - maybe a guide to where to buy groceries and provisions would be helpful, (and some milk in the fridge for our arrival?) The owner was very helpful in suggesting restaurants - there are a number of good choices very nearby. She was also at hand should we have had any problems. We had a wonderful trip to Venice, very much enhanced by this fantastic house.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
