Only a 5-minute walk to the nicest family beach on Martha's Vineyard! This quintessential Vineyard Cape is on a quiet country lane, set back from the road and is surrounded by a private acre of beech trees. Downstairs is a front-to-back fireplaced livingroom with fireplace (New, comfy livingroom furniture from Boston Interiors for Summer 2013), large kitchen with Hubbardton Forge lighting, eating area with room for 10, and a full bath. The house has custom Vermont and Maine handmade beds, Crate and Barrel kitchen set, hardwood floors, Claire Murray hand-hooked area rugs, and stainless steel kitchen appliances. French glass doors lead to decks off the livingroom and kitchen, with an outdoor dining area.

Upstairs are four bedrooms: two with queen-sized beds, one with a bunkbed and a trundle, and one with a trundle that opens to a king size bed or two twins. There is a bathtub in the upstairs bath, and a shower in the first floor bath plus a private outdoor shower.

Enjoy big breakfasts? The kitchen is well equipped with a waffle maker, electric griddle, blender, coffee grinder and Cuisinart coffee brewer. In addition, there is a lobster pot, bowls and platters, salad spinner, and a full set of pots and pans - all the comforts of home.

The house is uniquely situated as it is walking distance to three swimming areas. Its a 5-minute walk to the Lambert's Cove Beach parking lot, a resident's only private beach with miles of untouched sand dunes. This beach has fine sand and silver dollar shells. Because it is open to West Tisbury residents and tenants only, it is never crowded. Sunsets on this beach are the best on the island. Your rental includes two family beach passes. Walk to the beach, or drop off the kids, cooler and chairs, and leave the car at the house!

Enjoy swimming in crystal clear ponds? Manaquayak Preserve and Seth's Pond are also less than 10 minutes' walk from the house.

Manaquayak Preserve is one of the newest Martha's Vineyard Land Bank properties, It is a short 5-minute walk from the house. This 12-acre property contains a pristine, glacier-formed kettle pond originally called Ice House Pond. The Land Bank purchased the property in November 2004 through the use of a straw buyer in order to mask the Land Bank's interest from multiple sellers who, the Land Bank said, would likely not have sold to the public agency. From 2004 to Spring 2008, the property was closed to the public while access was being litigated in court. The property finally opened to the public in Summer 2008, but has only 4 parking spaces to limit its use.

Stroll through the Gingerbread Cottages: The grounds of the Martha's Vineyard Campmeeting Association (MVCMA), located in Oak Bluffs just behind the retail district, grew out of the religious 'campmeeting' movement of the 19th century. The campgrounds grew to become one of the largest and best-known campmeeting sites in the country. Visitors to the Cottage Museum can view the interior of a Campground cottage, complete with period furnishings. Also on display are vintage photographs and other documents relating to the history of the Campground.

We spent a wonderful few winter days in this perfect house! The kitchen is large and open to the dining area, so we could all cook and eat together comfortably. The kitchen is fully equipped and the color scheme is restful and soothing throughout the house. The bedrooms are well appointed and accommodate various ages and sleeping groups, singles, couples, and children. We loved having a fire in the living room, which fit us all happily on nice couches and chairs. There are many walks in the neighborhood, some in woodsy and some in beachy areas. The nearby town, where we went shopping, was friendly and cute. We found exactly what we needed. The movies and games in the house’s collection were great, with plenty of variety, and we discovered the ping- pong table when washing the nice linens in the handy and clean basement. The two bathrooms are clean, functional and convenient. I would highly recommend this house. It if it this nice off-season, I can only imagine how great it is as a summer get-away.

Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

We had a wonderful time (week of 7/8/11) and the house worked out great for our group of friends and family. The weather cooperated and we only encountered one night that was on the border of being a bit warm for people accustomed to having AC, but we really didn't miss it. We used the deck constantly for our large group and we were surprised by virtually no bugs and zero mosquitos. Having the washer/dryer was a blessing and we certainly appreciated this as our group used it pretty much daily. Thanks for the heads up on the fresh water pond down the street, we definitely wouldn't have found that without the directions. It was a nice change from the beach, although the keepers at the pond are a bit over serious about the routine and rules. Martha's Vineyard really proved to be much more than we were expecting. Beyond the nice tourist towns and the great beaches, it surprised us that much of the island was lush, rural, and had almost a Cotswold England feel to it. We found a lot of great hikes for the mornings and enjoyed getting around all over. Again, we had a great time and certainly appreciate the use of your home!

Stayed here for a week with my family and enjoyed it immensely. The house is spacious, sunny, cozy with a cottage/beach theme, clean and equipped with everything that you'll need to enjoy your vacation. It's in a secluded section of W.Tisbury, but close enough to the area's amenities and a quick drive to Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. Walking distance to Lambert's Cove Beach which was truly a gem. A definite rental to consider and the owners have been pleasant to work with.

Our vacation in your terrific house was truly a dream come true for me. All 6 of us enjoyed all that you provided for us. The beach and walking areas around the property were super. Touring the Island while using your houae as our home base brought back many childhood memories for me. I'd recommend the house at 8 Manaquayak Road for anybody looking for a relaxing vacation in a serene sylvan setting.

We had a wonderful time at Lambert's Cove. Our friends came in from Florida and the four of us stayed a long weekend--the house was beautiful and well equiped with everything we needed including pots and pans, games, and great island information. From the moment we walked in we felt at home. In addition, the house was perfectly located so that we were central to everywhere we wanted to be on the island. We had a fantastic time - even when it rained we had a great time relaxing in front of the fireplace. We look forward to returning on a regular basis! Thank you!

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! After visiting Martha's Vineyard for 12 years we have finally found a great home central to everything. Lambert's Cove Beach, Uncle Seth's Pond, and Icehouse Pond are all a short walk away. Lambert's Cove Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. We started each day with a walk or jog along the beach. Touching the rock at the end was the big prize. :) After a long day at the beach, a dip in one of the ponds was exactly what we needed. Long Point Reservation was a beautiful spot with hiking, huge ocean waves, and yet another pond. The Farmer's Market and a yummy Scottish Bakery are a very short distance away. We loved every minute of our stay at the Dines' Lambert's Cove Cape. Already counting down the days until next year!!!

We had a wonderful time thank you! The house is beautiful -- it is very clean and nicely decorated -- nestled quietly seaside. Lambert's Cove Beach and West Tisbury are my favorite places on the Island. We had the most fabulous time at the Lambert's Cove Inn Restaurant -- the food was amazing and the atmosphere was charming, thank you for the suggestion.

Our Brackett/Ausiello/Demerjian family had a wonderful early season week at your welcoming, spacious home. The house is furnished well and has puzzles, games, Vineyard information, etc. We loved hanging out, relaxing, and cooking together. Our 16 month old granddaughter loved the wagon and riding car from the basement. The pond and beach were great for her and for the adults as well. Thank you for providing so much to make us feel at home. We'll be back next June!

We had a perfect stay. The house is great for all ages. The location is perfect- within walking distance of the beautiful beach, a pond for swimming and the Lambert's Cove Inn's gourmet restaurant. We would love to come again!

Amy & David, Your house was the perfect beach house! It was comfortable, spacious, clean and the outdoor decks were great for relaxing. This was our first vineyard vacation and we now can't wait for our next! Our favorite part was Lambert's Cove Beach - the short walk was worth it. We also had a great time shopping in Oak Bluffs and walking around Edgartown (the Seafood Shanty is a must for dinner!) We definitely had one of our best family vacations and would recommend the house to others. Thank you!

About the owner: David and Amy live in Beverly, MA and fell in love with Martha's Vineyard and Lambert's Cove Beach many years ago during a weekend visit. In their spare time they enjoy sailing and kayaking.

Why the Owner Chose West Tisbury:
We discovered Lambert's Cove Beach while visiting some friends on the island. It was love at first sight when we climbed to the top of the sand dune and took in the magnificent view of the cliffs and ocean. We have traveled extensively in many countries, but Lambert's Cove Beach remains one of our favorite places to relax.
