Hale Lea is a lovely home with full amenities across the street from the beach. It is on the second floor, to take advantage of the breeze and partial ocean views. (Downstairs is a caretaker studio apartment.) High vaulted ceilings, fans, lovely tile work in the kitchen and bathrooms, a pleasing aqua blue and earthtones color scheme, and the wonderful large front lanai make this among the friendliest houses on exclusive Puako Beach Drive. The ocean across the street has one of the best snorkeling and diving reefs in all the islands and is protected as a marine sanctuary.
Hale Lea is bright, airy, and comfortable, with a relaxing partial ocean view from the large covered front lanai, living room, and master bedroom. Wonderful sunsets are a part of the experience. From the rear lanai there is a scenic three-mountain vista (Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai), and dramatic sunrise views. Boroadband wi-fi internet access, two TVs, two DVD players, and stereo cassette/CD player make for easy evenings. There is even a dishwasher, microwave, washer/ dryer, and a portable crib for your convenience. In addition, there is a gas barbecue grill on the front lanai. The bedrooms are even air conditioned.
Hale Lea accommodates up to six people comfortably (including children). The master bedroom has its own tiled bathroom and a queen-sized bed. The second bedroom also has a queen-size bed, and the third features two twin beds. (There is also a convertible sofa in the living room.)
All bedrooms feature vaulted ceilings, large fans, and air conditioning (helpful June through September). Comfortable bedding is provided for a range of seasons. Beach towels are available too, so there is no need to bring anything except your own clothes and favorite books or music.
Hale Lea is within walking distance of the lovely white sand beaches of the Sheraton Orchid and Mauni Lani Hotels and a short drive from a variety of other world-class beaches and golf courses. The beaches across the street are a wonderful mixture of lava and white sand, suiting every taste.
Puako is the only private (non-hotel) community on the entire North Kona-South Kohala coast. It is a small community of homes about half an hour from the Kona airport and 30 miles north of the town of Kailua-Kona. A secluded little town, it consists of one street, a cul-de-sac, which runs alongside the seashore. There is a nearby general store to supply you with essentials.
