Spectacular Ocean/Mountain Views for Your Vacation in Paradise
Year Purchased: 1990
Why the Owner Chose Hanalei Bay Villas
The north shore of Kauai is the most beautiful place in the world. We love Princeville because it is on a bluff overlooking the ocean-- flooding will never be a problem! The Hanalei Bay Villas are perfectly situated for the best ocean, bay and mountain views on the north shore. We bought Hanalei Bay Villa 25 for its views and easy access to beaches. We can kayak, snorkel, swim, bicycle, walk the beaches, or just read books and nap on the beach all very conveniently from our house.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Ours is a stand-alone house, so renters benefit from the privacy of having a house to themselves. It is close (but not TOO close) to the luxurious St Regis Princeville Hotel, just a 5-minute walk. Our house is not on poles like most Hanalei Bay Villas, which means we can walk out the lower lanai into the back yard for easy access to the herb garden and tropical fruit trees. There is whale-watching from the front door (Jan-April), frequent rainbows over the ocean, easy sunset watching from the bluff in front of the house. Guests often comment on how comfortable, well-equipped and nicely decorated our house is.
Luxury Hotel. Beach is public, just a 5-minute walk from Hanalei Bay Villa 25
Home of the famous Hanalei Pier featured in the movie South Pacific. Surfing lessons are offered here.
Fun for kayaking, stand-up paddling. Kayak/paddle out to Hanalei Bay and continue across the bay during calm surf.
Natural pool in the lava, to be enjoyed during calm surf months (May-September)
A short drive away, this lovely beach is calm regardless of surf conditions elsewhere.
A wonderful place to swim, surf, boogie board, stand-up paddle, or just enjoy the scenery or people- watch. The beaches around this bay were designated as America's #1 Beach (Dr Beach 2009).
Owner's Map of Hanalei Bay Villas
Our permanent home is Washington DC but we love escaping to Kauai, especially in the winter. After visiting Kauai several times in the 1980's and falling in love with the north shore, we purchased our house in 1990, 2 years before hurricane Iniki destroyed many homes on Kauai, ours included. By 1995 it was rebuilt as a totally different (and oh so much better) house. It's worth the long trip from DC! We love to snorkel, bike, kayak, walk, and just enjoy a good book while sitting under a palm tree at the beach. You will too!

What a great place to make a home base! Way better than a hotel or attached condo! It is so beautiful here, and the home is equipped with everything you need to have a fabulous time! The owners are so easy to work with and they are interested in making your holiday the best it can be. They have all kinds of books and information to help you plan your trip so you don\t waste any time. This unit has awesome views both front and back, which a lot of other units did not. It is well worth the cost. It is a great location to visit all parts of Kauai. We loved staying here and would not hesitate to do it again and recommend it to our friends!

We love Kauai and can’t stay away from this place! This was our 5th stay at this vacation rental, so now we are quite familiar with Kauai’s north shore and all that it has to offer. We enjoy staying active, and it is the perfect home base from which to enjoy kayaking, beaching, bicycling, stand-up paddling, walking, swimming, or just reading a book on the beach. We prefer cooking meals at home rather than eating out, taking advantage of all the wonderful produce offered at the farmers markets, and the variety of fresh seafood at Foodland and fish markets. This house has a great kitchen, and even an herb garden, which we used frequently. We even ate ripe papayas, picked from the back yard. We especially like this home because as a stand-alone, we don’t share any walls with neighbors. The knock-out view of the ocean from the front door, and the sunset views from the bluff across the street are 2 more great reasons. The place is bright and airy, all the furniture is very comfortable, in excellent shape, and well-situated; the lighting is well thought out (including reading lights for each bed) and the wall decorations are fun and cheery. It’s clear that the owners care about their place and pay attention to details. They treat their renters well, and particularly repeat renters. We are already planning our next trip!

Our family had an amazing stay at this villa. It's in a beautiful location and the villa itself is extremely pretty, spacious and very well kept. It is spotlessly clean and the owners have thought to provide everything you may need to have a great relaxing holiday. The views are fabulous and it's location makes it very convenient to explore the wonderful places that Kauai to offer. The beach across the quiet road was good for snorkelling and surfing and the hotel a few minutes walk away was well worth a visit. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to anyone and the owners are very obliging and easy to deal with. We would have loved to have stayed longer and will definitely rent it again when next we visit Kauai.
Owner response:We're so happy to have satisfied guests and always hope they'll return to our villa. A nice discount awaits repeat renters.

This was our second stay in #25 after 12 years. It was everything we had loved it for the first time (perfect location, breathtaking view) and more. Kathy and Bob had foreseen our every need, from the perfectly equipped kitchen to snorkeling gear to our own private herb and lettuce garden out back. Everything was in perfect working order and we needed to buy only our food. One of the best things was "the book" that the owners had compiled over the years with tips for how to make the most of our stay. We will definitely be back again and it won't take another 12 years!

This was our second time to this Hanalei Bay Villa, and it was even better than the first. We've traveled extensively and are particular about conveniences such as a well equipped kitchen, comfortable sturdy furniture, good mattresses, ventilation, natural and artificial light, including reading lights in the bedrooms. This was the first time that we did not have to go out to buy something for the house. The house met all our requirements and more. It is perfectly located with a wonderful view of the ocean from the front door and lush tropical foliage with a mountain backdrop from the rear lanai where we enjoyed most meals. We liked the thoughtful extras, such as books on flora, fauna, and geology of the Hawaiian islands, the herb garden (which we used extensively), the free long-distance calling, large TV with lots of cable channels. We enjoyed bicycling and walking around Princeville, the farmers markets, snorkeling at Hideaways beach, walking around Hanalei Bay, the albatross mating dances, the ocean overlook across the street where we could see surfers and breaching whales (and meet the neighbors for sunset cocktails). The Villa is an easy walk to the St. Regis hotel and the public beach in front, but far enough from the hotel that noise was not an issue. A great vacation home. We’ll be back!
Owner response:We try to pay attention to details and make our house a place we would want to rent, with the comfort and conveniences of home.

A beautiful home with all the conveniences one would hope for. This two-story home with two and a half baths, two bedrooms plus a sleeper sofa can easily accommodate four adults and two children. Everything a vacationer needs is available. The kitchen is well equipped with up to date appliances, WiFi, flat screen television, a library of print and non-print resources are available as are beach toys for those days lounging near the ocean. Hanalei is a short drive from this home. A variety of restaurants are available we enjoyed Barracuda, Hanalei Dolphin and Postcards. We have stayed in Kathy and Bob’s villa three times and look forward to our next return.

Probably the best lodging value for your money on Kaua'i. With two bedrooms and two levels, there's plenty of room for four. The condo is well-appointed and equipped with all the amenities you could need. Owners have thought of everything from hair dryers in the bathrooms to umbrellas in the closet. All the conveniences of home! Location is perfect in the Princeville Resort on the quieter, prettier North Shore. Great ocean and mountain views. Owner Kathy is good with communication and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend.
