At Sunset Central YOU ARE SO CLOSE YOU CAN FEEL THE OCEAN! As soon as you walk into SUNSET CENTRAL you take a deep breath and start to smile. You are seeing the incredible ocean view and hearing the waves. SUNSET CENTRAL IS as good as it looked online and you hoped for. And why?
VIEW VIEW VIEW. We have of one of the BEST OCEAN VIEWS in Maui. You don't think about it but 'NOT' having a pool, or condo complex lounge chair seating, or anything in your ocean view makes it that much better. The view from inside the condo is great and the view from our lanai is almost 180 degrees with no obstructions. We have the perfect combination for a ROMANTIC stay. A quiet and quaint location off the main road, stunning views, and soothing Pacific Ocean surround sound. There is NO EQUAL to being GROUND FLOOR directly on the ocean. No walking around your building(s), or down stairs and through hallways, or across streets to get to the ocean. Carry your chair 25 feet to the ocean edge and watch a 180 degree sunset. Does the drink you brought with you need a refill or you forgot your camera? No problem. Ten steps back to get it. Don't want to move 25 feet to the ocean edge? Just watch a sunset, sunrise, or simply the ocean from your very large lanai. The lanai has a ceiling fan for added comfort. Do you want your condo to be on a beach for sunbathing, snorkeling or just plain walking on it? We have a new upgraded stair access to our little semi-private “Rainbow Beach”. All this while still being minutes from all of the great things to do on the famous West Maui coast.
SUNSET CENTRAL faces directly West providing WONDERFUL SUNSET shows. During the year the sunsets move back and forth from the islands of Lanai and Molokai. What a sight. Words can’t describe what it is like watching sunsets from your condo right on the beautiful West Maui OCEAN EDGE and with the sounds of the ocean. It is fun even when the sunsets are not spectacular.
DECOR: Our goal was to make the family/dining room feel as large as possible even though it is larger than usual for Maui. Our tv/stereo and our dining table set are on one wall. The sofa sleeper and recliner are set up on the other wall. The result is a large open area in the middle of the room. We think we accomplished our goal. We also added mirrors on one wall. This also makes the room feel larger as well and provides an ocean view from almost any direction you are facing.
SERVICE: We only have one condo to manage so we give 100% of our attention to you and no amount of attention is too much. Even though we can easily accommodate 4 people in our large condo we only allow a max. of 3. This is to help make sure our condo is in good shape when you arrive. We have a large separate bedroom with a CA king size bed. A separate bedroom is nice if you do not want your King bed in the family room. We have a queen size sofa sleeper for the 3rd person.
IMPROVEMENTS: Carpet throughout. 37' flat screen TV in family room and a TV in the bedroom. We added a FAN on our LANAI and are the only ground floor unit in our complex that rents with one. This adds hours per day and night that are comfortable on the lanai. We also vented our washer/dryer unit to outside. Major feature! Less heating of your condo. And when you have a washer and dryer you are not spending part of your vacation watching your clothes in a community facility. New dishwasher.

We have stayed here probably six times. This is the first time at Ray & Connie’s unit. We have absolutely loved our 10 days here! First of all this condo has everything we could need including re-usable grocery bags which I really appreciate. You cannot beat the view and proximity to the ocean. We visited a friend staying in Kihei and her place was nice, right on the ocean with a green space between condo and ocean – but it’s just not the same as returning here and sitting in lounge chairs where you can feel the splash of the waves. We have watched turtles, whales and spinner dolphins from the sea wall. (Our neighbors saw a monk seal swimming close by too!) We mostly cooked herer but did have a great take-out from Okazuya tonight. Basically we’ve visited different beaches on the island and snorkeled. Le Perouse on the Kihei area and beyond makena Beach is not to be missed. Well worth the drive for snorkeling. We’ve also enjoyed the coastal walk from Kapalua to the Ritz Carlton and Fleming Beach, as well as Kaanapali boardwalk. Snorkeling was also great at Napili Bay and Kapalua Bay. Your home is clean and comfortable and has everything we could ask for. Thank you for sharing with us. We took you tip to visit Cane and Taro now known as Maui Fish and Pasta, for 50% off Wed. and had a wonderful meal at a great price. Maybe we’ll stop by there again. Aloha Connie and Ray, Can’t hardly believe we made it back to Sunset Central! After having to cancel our plans last year we can’t begin to tell you how much joy this trip brought us. It was like “coming home”. Such found memories of visits past and such anticipation of what was to come. Thank you for sharing your home with us. It is the perfect piece of paradise. The fresh flowers were beautiful and appreciated. We had a wonderful and relaxing trip. I never tire of beauty and difference of each sunset. Each night is special but tonight’s was spectacular!! Our last night! Enjoyed our usual spots around town. Farmers Market has the best pineapple salsa anywhere. We took a gamble with a coupon and went to Kihei and tried a place called Pizza Madness on South Kihei Rd. Great pizza!! So good we went back a second time. There’s a $5.00 coupon in the weekly Maui magazine. It’s a large pizza but more than enough for 2 nights. Small place, family oriented. Their salads looked great too. Words can’t express my appreciation of your kindness and support. You are amazing people. Hoping to see Sunset Central in the future!! Thank you again for sharing your Maui Joy! Dear Ray and Connie, What a beautiful vacation made perfect with your great condo and location. Saw many turtles off the beach from your lanai every day. As jack was a first timer in Hawaii we did the usual tourist things… Molokini snorkeling, Old Lahaina Luau, had a great time at both. We got the well deserved rest we came for and finished several books. In our opinion this condo & location is by far the best. Having a kitchen makes things much more relaxing than hotel as we did not have to clean up to go out. Thanks again ray for all your info.. Golfed at Makena and Kahili. From Ray and Connie(owners), 10/17 to 10/31 Where do we start? First ever evacuation for us due to Tsunami Alert. 7.4 earthquake in Vancouver, Canada. Thankfully nothing happened here. Went to Mai Fish and Pasta, formerly Cane and Taro. Still 50% off Tues. & Wed. 5-6 pm. I had 12 oz. Ribeye for $17.50. It was great. Brought some home. Connie had Opah. A little overcooked. Probably will be going back tomorrow night. Went to Sansei. Still great. 25% off 5:16 to 6 pm. Go ½ hour early and stand in line. Same owner as Maui fish and Pasta.. 3 meals from Okazuya. Mahi Mahi with lemon caper, BBQ Korean chicken, and Teriyaki steak. Once again all good. Went back to Maui Fish and Pasta. Had ribeye again and Ono. Both good. Calamari appetizer, Ahi Sashimi and beet salad were good too. Saw our first ever Moonbow! It is a white 180 degree arch rainbow that has a little color in. AlohaDid you find this review helpful? When we bought our condo we had the lucky idea of providing Guest Books and requesting that visitors write in things they did and what they liked and did not like for activities and our condo. Now we have years of comments for visitors who stayed here in West Maui. The comments are like a local travel guide. And we are very gratified for all of the nice comments about Sunset Central. 10-21-12 side note. There are many comments this year about good snorkeling in front of our condo. 10/09/12 to 10/16/11 Stay: Hi Ray, We just returned from our trip, wanted to thank you both for letting us stay at your wonderful condo. I forgot to sign the guest book but wanted to say thank you. Your suggestion for the Luau was awesome, we had such a great time there. Food was good, entertainment as well. I would also highly recommend it to anyone. We also enjoyed swimming in the ocean with the turtles, WOW, pretty awesome. Your condo was perfect. Had everything we needed and the view is priceless. 09/25/12 to 10/07/12 Stay: Aloha Ray and Connie, Thank you again for sharing our paradise with us. The weather was perfect, sunsets fantastic, all the relaxation needed, sounds of the Pacific help real good. Even the drive to North end to see Lorraine 7 have the best Shave Ice on the island, also the ice cream banana bread (new) was awesome, worth the drive. Lots of swimming and snorkeling. Saw lots of fish past wave break, many pictures of turtles and fish. Vog came in last day but oh well that’s what happens on volcanoes. Til next year, we are already counting the days. 08/28/12 to 09/06/12 Stay: Dear Ray and Connie, Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. This was a great way to celebrate our anniversary, my birthday and the end of summer. We didn’t have any expectations going into this as we had never rented a condo before. The place more than exceeded everything we thought it would be. The view is absolutely amazing and it was nice and quiet throughout our trip. This was our second trip to Maui. We enjoyed going up Haleakala, although we did not get up early, but still so beautiful. We went snorkeling just outside the condo and at Honolua Bay. We decided to do the Road to Hana again. This was probably our last time. It was worth it the first time. Our favorite part of the trip was stand up boarding in Kihei at Cove Beach. We did a lot of eating as well. Kihei Caffee was excellent as always. We also had breakfast at java jazz and they were good as well. We got coffee at Bad Ass coffee most mornings. We frequented the local taco places.. all were tasty. For dinner we went to Cheeseburger in Paradise, Bubba Gump Shrimp House and the Hula Grill. We liked all of them. We also enjoyed cooking here at the condo. I can’t believe we are leaving today. Thank you again for everything. We hope to return in the near future. About the owner: We (Ray and Connie) are from California. We love the outdoors and we especially love water and water sounds. When we like something we tend to keep coming back. Having a condo in West Maui is an example. Not a bad routine. We know you will love Maui too.
Why the Owner Chose Honokowai:
Connie and I (Ray) visited Maui from California for the first time about 15 years ago. Every time we came back we spent some time looking at condos. The question was, Where to buy? South Maui (Kihei), or West Maui? The first requirement was to be right on the ocean. We preferred the famous West Maui side but there were very few available in our range due to its popularity. Finally after several trips to Maui we came upon one in West Maui that was so close to the ocean and romantic that it would not let us go. The rest is history. Now we have a nice home away from home that we get to visit a few times a year. Sharing our condo and hearing how much our guests like it is a benefit we did not know would come with our purchase. The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Our condo is unique due to having one of the best views in Maui, our proximity to the ocean, our beach access, the small size of complex, being off the main road, and the quaint, quiet feel you get when staying there. The view right out to the ocean is almost 180 degrees with no pool or complex lounge seating in the way is unmatched. Although we have a large condo, over 600 square feet and could easily sleep 4 people, we only allow 3 as a maximum. The result is less wear and tear on the condo and greater assurance that it will be in great shape when you arrive.
