Location: Benedicta, Aroostook County, Maine, USA (1 hour North of Bangor; 45 minutes from Baxter State Park)
Accommodations: Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)
Keywords: Cabin
Come and relax at this quiet waterfront cabin on a beautiful pond in Northern Maine. The cabin is easy to find, just one hour north of Bangor, Maine, and minutes off of Interstate 95 in the quaint town of Benedicta.
Begin your morning with a serene, fog lifting kayak or canoe paddle on the pond, listening to the sounds of the loons, and possibly catching a glimpse of a feeding deer. Try your luck at catching one of the numerous bass, that are always willing to put up a good fight.
During the day, enjoy swimming, boating, or just sitting back and relaxing with a good book, near the water's edge. Shallow areas near the dock allow a safe place for children to enjoy swimming and fishing off of the camp side dock.
If hiking is your passion, Baxter State Park is only a short distance away, with two entrances, one in Patten and one in Millinocket. There is also an 18-hole golf course in nearby Island Falls, only 30 minutes away.
In the evening, enjoy the beautiful sunsets, while you fire up the barbecue or sit by the firepit roasting marshmallows.

We came back, first time was 8-6-07 with 9 folks in this cabin. The McDonald's are fine folks! All of us rented both cabins July 10th-18th, this time, and, once again Scott and Mary graced us with a fantastic week here. The loons, I saw one adult and one fledgling, an osprey. The gang caught some fish! I kayaked down to the exit of this pond. Next time, I intend to hopefully take the kayak down to the Penobscot, if the McD's will allow me. We all did Mt Katahdin (except for Alice and 2 grand kids) and made it to the top. The days were cool, the nights were crisp and clear! Go into Millinocket to visit a newly opened photography Studio Mark Picard. His photography is phenomenal. We even picked blueberry's by the Hannaford store, and raspberry's out off the Golden Rd. We love the interior of Maine and we will return again. Thanks, Scott and Mary.

Great place. Myself, hubby and our 3-year old daughter stayed for a week in the cabin at the end of August 08. It was clean, furnished with everything we could possibly need, including lots of board games/puzzles and in a quiet, peaceful location. We would definitely visit again.....highly recommend.

It started out with just my wife and I, then our friends and their kids and two friends of the kids! 9 in all, in a two bedroom cabin. The McDonalds were VERY accomodating. Our stay, from July 22nd to the 28th was a very great experience. The cabin was very comfortable for the two of us, even for 4. But we did get by with all, as well, and we all did well in having a great time and not stepping over each one. The nights were very comfortable for sleeping. Sitting on the docks watching the sun sets every night, or kayaking with the loons was a treat! The pond ( A lake anywhere else) was inviting to swim, canoe, kayak, and fish. The loons sang to us, and were very photographic. A Bald eagle, or two, one mature, the other immature, possibly an Ospry also. You MUST attempt to climb Katahdin, but get in shape for it, and do NOT be intimidated by the looks of it, but respect it as well. TAKE SUNSCREEN, even if it is cloudy on top! Look for moose on the Golden Highway, just outside of Baxter Park. Baxter Park is great for hikes even if the peak is not your destination. I recommend grassy pond for some great views. I highly recommend This cabin for anyone. I will return again, I know! Ok, final words of advice... this cabin is a must! Bring sun screen for the climb up Katahdin. Try the Golden highway for a moose hunt, first, before trying a contract service, but there is a wonderful place in Millinocket, run by Vicky(?)... a Photo place/ moose tour guide, she will get you a moose, and even fox!
