Further update!!! Our cabin continued to be very heavily rented in 2010. Over 310 nights rented despite a very tough economy. Sugar Maple Cabins, our local manager, has done a wonderful job of assuring that our guests find a clean, well maintained cabin which continues to satisfies guests year after year. We encourage you to see what has attracted so many at High Mountain Mist and make our cabin your home in the Smokies.
UPDATE!!! My wife Debbie and I were in the cabin the second week of November of 2009. We had the exterior completely cleaned, caulked and stained and sealed. We also added luxurious bedding to both king sized beds as well as new quilts and pillow shams on both beds. You can be assured of a wonderful sleeping experience!
This posting updated 11/03/2009....This cabin was rented over 330 nights in 2008 making it possibly the most desired one bedroom cabin in the entire Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. 2009 has experienced similar results in spite of the lousy economy. Folks still recognize quality!!! This cabin will accomodate two couples in privacy (there is a king size bed in a loft sleeping area with its own full bath) and there are two roll away beds for the kids.
Few mountain cabins offer the combination of luxury, spectacular view, proximity to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood and wide, safe and paved roads as High Mountain Mist. You and your guests are sure to love it! Just copy and paste this phrase to Google,
Sugar Maple Cabins High Mountain Mist
and check us out. You will see that this is one of the most rented cabins in their program, and there is good reason. From the double heart shaped jacuzzis to the luxury furnishings to the incomparable views to the unique decor this is as fine a rental property as can be found in the Smokies. Be sure to ask for High Mountain Mist by name when you call Sugar Maple Cabins.
"High Mountain Mist," managed by Sugar Maple Cabins, is an impeccably maintained log cabin (opened in 2004) which offers spectacular sunrise views of Mount LeConte and the Smoky Mountain range to the southeast and beautiful sunset views of Bluff Mountain to the west. Located in Starrcrest II Resort, this one bedroom, two bath cabin is unsurpassed in its beautiful views, exceptional decor (including an antique canoe suspended above the living area) and amenities. Starrcrest II Resort offers a swimming pool for guests, a remarkable play area for the kids and a large picnic pavilion. In the cabin there are TWO heart shaped jacuzzi tubs for two, one in the king sized master bedroom and one in the loft sleeping area. The second sleeping area is a large loft area which includes a beautiful log frame king sized bed, a pool table, darts and two roll away twin beds. There are three TVs (one 52" HDTV in the loft and another in the living room) with cable plus DVD. A six person hot tub, available year round, sits on the upper deck and overlooks the spectacular views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A perfect place to wind down after a long day at Dollywood, in the mountains or out shopping.
Unlike many cabins in this area, High Mountain Mist is very convenient to Dollywood (it is just one mile from the resort entrance to the Dollywood entrance). The Parkway and shopping in Pigeon Forge is less than ten minutes away. You will also only be 10-15 minutes away from the Glades Arts and Crafts community in Gatlinburg. In less than twenty minutes you can be at the Park Headquarters at the Sugarlands Ranger Station, jumping off point for exploration of the most visited National Park in America!
High Mountain Mist is aptly named as you will discover following a rainfall as the mist for which the mountains are named swirls through the valleys and hills beneath the decks of this mountain top cabin. Access is exceptionally easy as the roads are wide, paved and curbed all the way to the door. (No gravel for motorcyclists to worry about and no rocks or ruts to damage your car!) A full kitchen makes meal preparation as easy as if you were at home. High Mountain Mist has everything that you would expect of a fine vacation property.
This is a very special place and after your first visit you will want to return again and again.

My wife and I spent four days in this cabin this past week 1/22-1/26/06. After a heavy rainfall on Monday, the mist was rolling up through the valleys on Tuesday. All of the view photos on VRBO were taken that morning except for the sunrise over Mt. LeConte which was taken on an earlier trip. This is an extremely comfortable cabin with easy access to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. (Check a map for the back way on Middle Creek and Byrd's Chapel Roads to the Glades Arts and Crafts Community and the northeastern entrance to Gatlinburg. It will save you a lot of travel time during busy seasons.) We went to Cades Cove on Tuesday but mostly just relaxed. We have visited the area many times and always go to Connor's and/or Chop House restaurants in Five Oaks Mall on 441 between Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. This trip we went to both and both were excellent. Don't miss the lobster bisque at Connor's!! We also like the Old Mill (turn at traffic light #7 in P.F. then cross the river bridge) for home cooked meals. Almost every trip finds us at the Sugarlands Ranger Station welcome center for some reason. Good gift shop, plenty parking and clean restrooms. Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a must see except in winter when the road is closed. Ditto Clingman's Dome at the top of the mountain (also closed in winter). Strongly suggest catching C. Dome at sunset. One of the best sunset views on earth! (Roaring Fork is left at first road in G-burg after Hwys 321/441 split going south. Directly across from the G-burg Aquarium.) Check out Beneath The Smoke photo gallery and frame shop on the right exactly at this same split or the Jim Gray Gallery across the street. If you need hiking gear the Happy Hiker is a right turn at the last light before going into the park (just past Maxwell's Steak House) then look to your left in a small shopping center about 100 yds down the road. The folks at the Sugar Maple office are familiar with the area and can help you with directions. Finally, as a Kroger employee I must tell you that there is an excellent Kroger store in Sevierville on Hwy 66 going toward I-40 and another much closer to your cabin on Wear's Valley Rd. (going toward Sevierville on the Parkway turn left at traffic light #3 toward Wear's Valley and go 200yds. The store is on the right.) Store Managers Bill Daniels at P.F. store or Mollie Stiles at S'ville would love to see you. There is no "bad time" to vist the Smokies. Every season is differentDid you find this review helpful? Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: We are Horace and Debbie Hamilton from Duluth Ga. We both grew up in Tennessee, Horace in Knoxville and Debbie in Nashville and we have spent many family vacations in The Smokies. We have two sons, Jason and David, a daughter-in-law, Crystal, and two grandchildren, Reece and Reagan, who live in Sugar Hill, Ga.
Why the Owner Chose Pigeon Forge:
We love the mountains and all of the family friendly entertainment options available. Our children grew up vacationing in the Smokies and now our grandchildren are enjoying the same experiences. What a great place to establish family memories!!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Our cabin is so close to all of the action in Pigeon Forge (only two miles to
Dollywood) and the National Park (about 10-15 minutes) yet offers spectacular views of the Smokies, sunrises, sunsets and the beautiful wisps of mist rising off the mountains after a rainfall. We love hiking the trails, photographing the beauty of the Smokies, shopping at the outlet malls and the many dining experiences available. But we especially enjoy our cabin. It has two king-sized beds, a hot tub on the deck, two jacuzzi tubs inside, two 52" HDTV's with satellite, full kitchen, beautiful decor (a tribute to Debbie's decorating skills) and plenty of space for 4-6 people to be comfortable. Our only disappointment is that we don't get to go often enough. We have had large parties at the community pavilion, our grandkids love the playground and the very nice community pool. High Mountain Mist, (the name was inspired by a Jim Gray painting) is just a wonderful place to visit.
