My family stayed here the week before Christmas and had a wonderful vacation in Crested Butte. The location of the Axel building couldn't be any better but beware ... this condo is on the 3rd level of the building and there is NOT an elevator! We had a pretty difficult time coping with the stairs for the first few days until our bodies adjusted to the altitude! The condo is self is not large but completely adaquate. The 2 bedrooms + loft was perfect for our family. We had 3 adults, 2 teens and 2 10yr olds. Plenty of towels, blankets and kitchen gadgets for us to be comfortable during our week stay. I'm guessing the property was built in the 1970's and it looks like the last remodel was atleast 10 years ago. The furnishings were fine but not luxurious. The fixtures, cabinets and trim are tired and in need of refurbishment or replacement. (examples .... one of the drawers and the rubber baseboards in the kitchen are just barely hanging on, the inside door jam of the bathroom door has most of the paint chipped off, the beds in the loft area are super soft and need to be replaced...etc.) The property itself was clean, for the most part, when we arrived and there were plenty of paper towels and cleaning products for us to use while we were there. A huge irritation for us was the sheets and mattress covers we're pretty warn out and therefore would not stay on the bed. At least once in the middle of each night would I have to walk around to all 4 corners of the bed to try to get the sheet and mattress cover back on the bed! It's a little thing but quite irritating! The owner was great, very helpful to any of my questions. We reserved a private van and driver from Alpine Express and it was fantastic! They stopped at City Market in Gunnison before we headed to the condo which was so nice! Mt. Crested Butte really doesn't have a true grocery store so stopping on the way from the airport is a necessity! Mt. Crested Butte really only has a handful of restaurants, so plan on taking the shuttle into town. The shuttle runs about every 15 minutes (until what time, I don't know) and the their is a "heated" bustop in town! We ate at numerous restaurants in town and were very please with all! Because of the location and layout of the condo I would recommend it to a friend! Enjoy your stay in Crested Butte! It's a beautiful place!
Owner response:Thank you for the review; the best way for us to ensure our future guests have the most enjoyable experience possible is to listen to our past renters and take action on their feedback. Specific to this review, we have addressed the issues with the baseboards and repainting of door jams. Additionally, we have replaced the sheets and have tested the mattress covers to ensure they stay on! This is the first time we've ever heard any issues relating to the softness of the beds but we will look into that as well. It sounds like overall you were pleased with your experience and again, thank you for taking the time to help us improve our unit.

From start to finish this was such an easy vacation. I had never rented through VBRO so, I was a little nervous. Dealing with Jeff was a breeze. The condo was comfortable and well stocked. It is so close to the lifts that we stopped for lunch each day. We were the unlucky ones to arrive during the big freeze of Feb 2011. Luckily the fireplace and a large stocked woodpile and kept us nice and toasty. We had 4 in our group and had more than enough room. beds left over! There really wasn't a reason to leave the mountain for anything. nice resteraunts and grocery stores & shopping close by. It was perfect! Thanks, Jeff!!!!
