Charming, private little place, beautifully kept. Owners Jan and John are friendly and helpful, but bend over backward to insure privacy and quiet. We can't imagine how a place could be operated better than this.

My husband and I had the pleasure of finding this little gem in Carmel. Nice location, within walking distance of downtown. The Studio itself is exceptional, Jan and Joe have thought of everything, we enjoyed the bottle of wine they provided, they also provided coffee, juice, fruit and cereal. We were able to decide where to dine and what to do with the local information that they have readily available in the room. They also provide a pass to get into the local parks which is what we were looking for, once Jan realized we wanted to bike and/or hike she thoughtfully provided us with additional options. I wish we had more time to spend in this beautiful studio. They really did think of everything to make your stay more enjoyable. Go and see for yourself, we can't wait to go back.

Even after reading the reviews, we didn't realise just how perfect this home away from home would be. Joe and Jan thought of everything for our comfort and to help us see the sights, eat great food & save money with passes for the best attractions. The studio was spotless & yet still homely, the provisions were exactly what we needed & all the extra touches made us feel so special. If you haven't stayed here, then you don't realise just how wonderful a holiday apartment can be.

Everything you need to have a wonderful week in Carmel is here! Jan and Joe created a perfect studio with everything you need and more. Getting into CA late in the day, the next morning we enjoyed the OJ, milk, cereal and breakfast items they thoughtfully provided. Linens are top notch, the bed was very comfortable, and everything sparkled! We also enjoyed the hummingbirds who frequented their beautifully kept gardens. Too, there is a book of places to see and other recommendations, and J& J are on site if you have any questions or needs. We enjoyed the park passes and took a trip to the Monterey aquarium- courtesy of J & J. There are some other little surprises waiting for you courtesy of wonderful hosts,...thanks for a great week! Wish we could have stayed longer at this wonderful property.

Having just spent eight nights in the Stine's wonderful studio, I am already looking forward to returning! It more than met my expectations! It is a comfortable and cozy spot where I enjoyed settling in with a good book on rainy days and with a location that made all activities, restaurants, etc very convenient when I wanted to venture out. Having access to passes for the State Parks and the Aquarium were a nice bonus as I spent a day hiking in Point Lobos and a day at the Monterey Aquarium. It was so nice to find orange juice, coffee, fruit, etc. upon arrival after a long drive. Joe and Jan were most welcoming and always available to answer questions and share a hug. Having visited Carmel many times in the past with my late husband, it was nice to re-visit favorite restaurants such as Cafe Rustica, Little Napoli, and Mission Ranch for the Sunday Brunch. I highly recommend that you chose this lovely studio for your next visit to Carmel!

This was our first VRBO stay and we had a wonderful time! The location is outstanding. We walked into Carmel several times during our stay. Plus, highway 1 is easily accessible and takes you to all the sights of the area. The room itself is excellent with so many extras that it is hard to remember all of them: the aquarium and state park passes, the breakfast food, wine, DVD/video collection, travel/restaurant recommendations as well as travel books and brochures, extra soft linens, beautiful decor, fresh flowers, and we could go on and on. The hosts are amazing. It is a nice, quiet place to relax. We will recommend Le Petit Chambre to others and will stay there again when we are in the area.

Everything exceeded our expectations. While there are only 3 pictures of the property on the web page, the bathroom and patio area are also wonderfully done. From the moment we walked in the cleanliness and design of the space made us feel immediately comfortable. We have been to France several times and really apprecuated the way the suite was decorated. Joe and Jan were very helpful but tremendously respectful of our privacy. Jan is a hostess with a great sense of style and concern for the success of your trip. She gave us many good tips on the area. We have already recommended Le Petit to many of our friends. Things to do? Go to Point Lobos, Big Sur, lunch at Nepenthe, 17 mile drive, walk streets of Carmel and enjoy architecture, eat at Il Fornao counter, Andre's Bouchee, Casanova, drinks on deck at Mission Ranch (while you watch Clint Eastwood's sheep graze)- ok that's all...now you're on your own!

We stayed here the first week of Sept. 2010. The space is great for two people. It is spectacularly clean. Having gotten in late the night before we appreciated the milk, juice, half/half, coffee, fruit and yogurt that was made available for breakfast the next morning. The location is within walking distance to Carmel by the Sea shopping and dining. We ate at Basil and Dametra. Would definitely recommend Demetra for some fun. It's also a short ride (2 miles) to Point Lobos state park and the passes provided saved $10 per vehicle to each park! The MOnterey Bay Aquarium for which passes were also provided was literally a 10 minute easy drive! We rarely saw Jan and Joe, but when we did they were a delight to talk to and made it clear we could call them anytime for questions except we didn't have any because they had thought of everything already! Other places we enjoyed were Ventana down by Big Sur. A beautiful relaxing place to enjoy lunch where I felt like I could just walk on the clouds on the edge of their patio. Also went to the Sunset Lounge at the Hyatt in the Carmel Highlands. Live music in the evenings- a little dressier place to go, but the pickies we had and the dessert were very good. Didn't enjoy Belardus in Carmel Valley, but had a great time hiking at the Carmel Valley Regional Park (?Galand Park). Lots of people bring their dogs and when it isn't sunny on the coast, it's almost always sunny in Carmel Valley, so although we didn't have the coastline to look at when we were hiking here, the sun shining on us was great. Got ice cream at Earthbound and sat in their garden to eat it. Yum. Overall I don't think anyone could be disappointed staying at this Petit Chambre.

We came to Petit Chambre after our daughters wedding. It was so quaint starting with the wonderful welcome notice by Jan and Joe, meeting them afterwards was a pleasure. They made our stay perfect, including the very thoughtful extras from wine to fruit, nuts and breakfast extras. So thoughtful. This studio shows so much thought by the owners. It is a perfect Hideaway in a wonderful location. The landscaping and private setting is amazing and made this a great place to just relax and read after a busy day sightseeing. Loved watching the hummingbirds and the peaceful atmosphere. We used the state park passes twice, the Monterrey Aquarium once, what a nice idea to have for your guest Jan and Joe, we like to thank you for a memorable stay and we will we back. Would not stay anywhere else when we come back to the Carmel Area. Your suggestion of restaurants was greatly appreciated and all were excellent. We tried 4 of them and loved them all. What we most appreciated was the convenience to all the locations from Carmel by the Sea,( walking distance, sorry to say, we did not do that), next time. Monterrey, Pebble Beach, Carmel Valley. Also enjoyed visiting Chauteau Julienne. All in all it was a wonderful stay , we will not forget. Thank You for the memories, August 16-23, 2010

Our stay at this beautiful property was a complete joy! Jan and Joe have made this studio the perfect retreat in every way! The unit is very spacious and inviting. The bed and bath we found to be incredibly comfortable with beautiful linnens and towels. The refigerator was stocked with fresh berries, yogurt, a bottle of wine and beer plus more! Even though it is attached to the home you can enjoy your own private gate entrance and a courtyard area that is just exquisite. We were able to use our computer with the provided connection and there is a nice flatscreen you can enjoy anywhere in the room.We found the scrap book provided very helpful with recommendations for activities and dining. Take the time to take a look. You`ll be glad you did! There are also many other nice touches you will appreciate but too numerous to mention! We are very much looking forward to returning to this lovely spot in beautiful Carmel!

We took advantage of all the aminities - washer & dryer, beatiful patio, video collection, Monteray Aquarium passes, state park pass, and the close proximity to Carmel and Pebble Beach. Jan and Joe were extremely hospitable yet respected our privacy. Would love to go back some day.

We had a lovely stay over Thanksgiving. As other visitors note, the breakfast supplies, wine, chocolates were very much appreciated. The passes to the Monterrey Aquarium are a great value (adult entry is $31). The location is very central to not only Carmel, but other places to see along the peninsula and the coast drives. The chambre is beautifully appointed and terrifically sunny. THere are lovely outdoor areas ( the timing of our visit didn't allow us to enjoy this - shorter day and cool nights.) Their is great privacy, but Jan and Joe are right there if you need anything at all. Jan has compiled a terrific notebook of articles and reviews of all the local things to do/places to eat that is a great resource. They even supply things like a picnic basket, wine cooler, and blanket. We had a terrific time at this lovely part of the world. The accomodations and hosts were wonderful too.

Never intrusive but always standing by to answer any questions or offer advice on making your stay more enjoyable. All VRBO owners should take a lesson from them! The pantry was nicely stocked with breakfast items and snacks upon arrival. They even bought a bottle of wine for us! The studio is perfectly equipped for a comfortable with every need anticipated and addressed. If I am lucky enough to return to Carmel by the Sea, I would not consider staying anywhere else!

We enjoyed the location which is just south of Carmel High School on Highway One. Very, very quiet and centrally located. Jan and Joe go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay....we sure did. No negatives at all in staying here. And the passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium was an added treat. We came back last month for our third stay with Jan and Joe. I would not stay anywhere else in Carmel. The petite chambre and Jan and Joe's hospitality get better and better. We stayed in there in 2006, 2007 and 2009 (2008 we had to cancel as we had a our first child that year). New for us in 2009 (although they said it has been changed for a bit) was the gleaming wood floors! I thought with all the renters the place might look a little more tired than when I first saw it, but it was BETTER! New TV too! Jan takes great pride in the place and is constantly striving to make it the best place to stay. My fav part was I found my new cereal! Jan is nice enough to stock with some goodies and had Trader Joe's Very Berry Crunch cereal, which I now buy every week for my breakfast. It reminded me of my favorite childhood cereal (Crunchberries) but now I don't have to buy the embarrassing box. Jan and Joe never impose on their guests, but since we've been up there a few times now (and have kept in touch because they are just such a lovely couple), we did go over to their place for a glass of wine. It was a pleasure to get to know them better and just cements my opinion that there isn't a better place to stay in Carmel. You won't get the hospitality, great lodging and VALUE anywhere else, IMHO. Thanks Jan and Joe for yet another amazing stay, we'll see you next year!!

Le Petite Chambre was certainly a slice of Provencal heaven for us! The accommodations were so tasteful and elegant with many treasures and souvenirs from France. What a delight to be greeted with a special welcome of beautifu flowere, a chilled bottle of wine, an array of fruits, and a full assortment of breakfast items---cereal, yogurt, teas, coffee, chocolates, and assorted other treats. From the moment we walked into our petit chambre, we knew that we had found a perfect place. Jan and Joe were exceptional hosts and left no detail unattended.

This was a special trip for us---my 75th. Playing Pebble Beach for the first time was great, but equally great was our own Country French Studio. Jan did not miss any opportunity to make us feel welcome and totally at home. The personal touches like a stocked refrigerator, two kinds of coffee, fruit and a bottle of wine were unexpected and were a very pleasant surprise. We have used VRBO on many occasions---this was the best.

My husband and I stayed at the French Studio during the Sea Otter in April. I think that I am a very clean person, and was extremely impressed with how spotless it was. There was beer and wine in the fridge, bottled water, yogurt, milk, creamer and cold cereal. When my sweet tooth started calling to me that evening, I even found a tinful of chocolates (that I completely depleted!) The bed was cozy and the bedding, including the sheets were high quality. The room is stocked with books, movies and tons of information on places to see and recommendations on good places to eat. There are maps, free passes to the aquarium and even a state park pass. Jan and Joe even offered the use of their washer and dryer, which was awesome on a mt. bike vacation. Even though it was connected to their home, we didn't hear a peep and it was very private. The grounds are meticulously kept. We did see Joe a couple of times (Jan was out of town) and he was helpful and kind. It is a small space, but how much time do you really spend in a room when you are on vacation? I would recommend this to anyone!

I was completely charmed by La Petite Chambre and the Carmel region. I arrived after a long early-morning (read: still dark)drive from Yosemite, and Jan presented me with fruit, wine, yogurt, directions to the nearest grocery store, the address of the town's finest restaurant, and an offer of the use of her laundry facilities (I had been traveling for 12 days and rinsing out things in the sink). The availability of a park pass and Monterey acquarium passes were a bonus, as there are many state parks in the area, each charging $10 admission. Another fine feature was the ring of hedges and fences that maintained the unit's serenity. I'd a perfect spot for one or two people who's like to save money eating breakfast in, planning to picnic for lunch or dinner and splurge on the alternate meals. And do peruse the reading material, particularly the books about Paris!

I just spent 3 nights in "Le Petite Chambre," and would recommend it to anyone considering a visit to the Monterey Peninsula. Its location off Highway 1 made it convenient to visit the Carmel Mission, Pt. Lobos, the Monterey Aquarium, 17 Mile Drive, and the Carmel Valley. It is also walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The studio is every bit as charming and welcoming as described, as are the host and hostess. I hope to return again and really can't say too many positive things about the experience of staying there!

We have just returned from our 3rd annual visit to this lovely lodging. It is indeed a place for respite and relaxation – quiet in its environment and in its décor, filled with surprising details that make us feel like pampered guests. Chilled wine with delicate wine glasses to greet us, along with salted nuts all wrapped in a plastic bag with a grosgrain ribbon tie, tucked within a silver seashell. One smiles on each little discovery. The host and hostess have imagined every detail, and even offer a membership card to the Monterey Bay Aquarium which guests can use for free member access. All this set in a sunny garden with bright flowers at any season. A gem in all respects.Ann and Joe - Berkeley

You never know what you're going to get when you book a place on line for a vacation stay. By reserving Le Petite Chambre we got memories to last a life time. We felt like we were staying in the French country side. We were so relaxed either inside the tastefully decorated room or sitting in the garden enjoying a glass of wine. The very clean kitchenette was well stocked for breakfast. The room is bigger then it looks on line. It was so easy to sleep in the comfy bed, and it was so quiet! The location was ideal as was the price. We stayed in CA for 17 days, this was the BEST placed we stayed at. We'll definitely will return. From the wonderful hosts, to seeing CLINT,and all the little things it added up to a wonderful visit.

We stayed at le Petite chambre for the American LeMans sportscar finale (24-28 October) and found it to be everything one could want for a lovely stay. One word describes it all - impeccable. Decor, supplies, ambiance left nothing to chance. Jan & Joe were excellent, helpful hosts. Jan is the best concierge we've ever encountered. Her tips on restaurants, local goings on, etc. were all on target for us. The chambre is fully stocked to get one started in the morning. It is also loaded with everything one might need for a day at the races (or the beaches, or the wineries). Our only regret is that we didn't have enough time to spend in her lovely garden and read more from their well stocked library. We highly recommend this location and can't wait to return.

This was our second stay at the Petite Chambre (During the Laguna Seca event in the 3rd week of July 2007) and it was just as I remembered it. Jan is just a special lady whose attention to detail makes her guests feel like they are her favorites, even if it's the first time staying there. She takes obvious pride in her home and her city and goes out of her way to make the stay a pleasant one while completely respecting the privacy of her guests. The room itself was as immaculate as the last time we stayed, with fresh fruit and other goodies that helped us save some money. We were there for the motoGP race (my husband's thing, not mine!) and Jan left us news clippings and other pertinent info outside our door. Jan and Joe are a most lovely couple and I have had the pleasure of getting to know them a little better as we've kept up a bit of correspondence since our stay in 2006. Jan even sent me a gorgeous hankerchief for my wedding day(which I used nonstop!)and that should tell you what a classy and thoughtful lady she is. We were just guests like everyone else, but we sure felt special!!! We will never stay anywhere else in Carmel, and if you do stay there, feel honored that you are "in" on the best "secret" in town!

We rented the apartment for our niece and her fiance as a birthday gift partnered with last year's Jazz Festival. Though they are smokers, they respected the owners wishes and only smoked outside. It was a blue jean weekend with good weather. After we left, the owner charges us an excessive fee to have her carpet cleaned blaming the dirt on our niece. We saw the place before we left and there was no such problem. These two 27 year old professionals left the place in the same condition in which they found it. We were offened by the owners attitude and felt ripped off by her charges. Should you choose to stay here, we recommend that you take pictures of the place when you check in if you don't want to be charged falsely or improperly by these people. We would not recommend this place for that reason and for their attitude towrds young people.

Wonderful location midway between the Big Sur Coast and Monterey. It was a home away from home, quiet, restful, immaculately clean, the perfect location for unwinding from work. Thoughtful touches throughout with a wonderful collection of books/magazines for reading pleasure. Jan is the perfect hostess!!

Everything was perfect at Le Petite Chambre! Quiet, clean, comfortable and accommodating. My husband and I walked into more than we expected and for the entirety of our 4-day stay we felt like we were at home. Thanks Jan and Joe, we hope to return soon.

We had wonderful first family Christmas with our 3 month old daughter. The studio had everything we needed and was a very pleasent walk to town. The Christmas tree with the pink "babies first Christmas" decorations was especially nice. Would VERY definately recommend it.

My husband and I stayed in Le Petit Chambre for three nights. It is a wonderful oasis from which to enjoy the Monterey Peninsula. Much attention has been paid to the small details that make a stay special. This accomodation would be especially comfortable for longer stays, because of the kitchen facilities and generous amount of room.

We stayed at Le Petite Chambre from November 10 through November 14. Such a lovely rental and SO clean. Even though there are homes all around it was VERY quiet. Jan and Joe are gracious hosts and have taken great care to make their guests' stay comfortable..very convenient to downtown Carmel..highly recommend..

Jan, thanks again for the best stay. What a treat your special retreat was, with so much attention to detail! We are so excited to be returning again next July! We would stay nowhere else, not only because it's so lovely, but because you are Joe are so hospitable!
