A Charming 1 Bedroom Cottage on the Sea in a Quiet Part of Ocho Rios.
- Minimum stay:3-5 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The cottage is located in a small community less than 1 mile from the centre of Ocho Rios. You enter a hopelessly romantic world - your own garden, with its steps leading through a grotto to the sea 30' below, and the cottage itself, with its whimsical decor and incredible view. Downstairs houses the fully-equipped kitchen, the living area, a single-bed alcove, a funky outdoor shower and generous patio space for dining and relaxing in hammocks.
Upstairs is the bedroom with king-size bed, bathroom with shower, and sitting area. The decor includes pieces acquired during trips to Bali and India, but the view is 100% Caribbean. Complimentary offerings include 1 and 2-person kayaks, a paddle board, high-speed internet access, and snorkelling equipment.
Owners Peter & Annabella Proudlock live next door, and are always happy to offer advice and assistance in organising whatever you want to make your holiday dreams come true.

Just returned from 4 nights in Te Moana. When we first walked upstairs to the spacious bedroom, the view from every window was all azure-blue Caribbean. A small standing-room only deck provided the perfect spot to greet the glorious sunrises and take in the crystal-clear water. Since we stayed in every night, we started every morning kayaking right after sunrise on a glass-sea (we would paddle right by Sandals), followed by snorkeling and swimming. By the time we came back to the cottage, our cook, Hyacinth, had the table set and a wonderful breakfast cooking. (Hyacinth prepared 3 meals a day, cleaned up, did laundry and ironed for us--every meal was perfect!) The open air dining, living room and kitchen, meant every meal was framed by glorious views of the Caribbean and sea breezes. We also hired a driver for a morning (Vincent) and went to Walkerswood (great views and spices), Wassi Pottery (gorgeous Jamaican pottery at a discount), and Dunns River Falls (an adventuresome not-to-be-missed climb up the falls). I also recommend Gloria's fabric shop (on the road to Fern Gully) where you can buy hand-painted material. For only $30 US, I had a hour massage right by the sea. Te Moana is a place to rest, recharge, read, swim, and feast in the natural beauty of Jamaica. (Also a perfect writer's getaway.) Anabella and Peter are generous and involved hosts and we felt like guests at their home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderfully relaxing vacation at Peter and Annabella's delightful seaside cottage. This is our second time staying at a vacation rental with the owners living next door, and it is a real plus. The cottage was great - whimsically decorated, wonderfully located, clean and well maintained. Peter was outside when we arrived, directing us to our parking place and showing us all of the ins and outs of the cottage (I did forget where he showed me the light switch was for the upstairs bathroom. Again, the location couldn't be better - very relaxing back patio, looking north into the Caribbean. We had heard that the Sandals party boat was a distraction, but it wasn't really. We read reviews that there was a mosquito problem. We saw bugs on night, but bug spray solved the problem. The four larger dogs were great, and the one cat that thought she owned the cottage (and, in fact, does) was a nice constant companion. We were a little apprehensive about the cat spending the night in the bed with us, but we kept the door at the top of the steps closed, and she never came in. Again, Peter and Anna were perfect hosts, to include the unusual step of having linens changed in the middle of the week, and inviting us to have a drink on the last evening. The trip in and out of the MBJ airport was no fun, but the cottage made it worthwhile, and we look forward to our next return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you, Peter and Annabella, for making our first stay in Jamaica a great experience. The cottage is beautiful and rustic and Kayak, the cat, welcomes you with lots of love. The privacy of the dock to lounge and swim is wonderful. The sandy bottom just off the ladder is very nice. The volcanic rock cliff and the caves are awesome. Snorkeling is fantastic especially to the left side of the dock and shows fantastic rock formations, but watch out for those jet skis and passing boats. Having access to the kayaks for day excursions was an added bonus since we are both avid boaters. The fart displayed throughout the cottage is beautiful. On Saturday a local farmer will come buy to sell fresh fruit and vegetables at a reasonable price. Town is only a short walk but a route taxi will take you to your destination for US$2 . There is a public beach to the right called Shaw Park and next to that is a nudist beach. Both are accessible by kayak and you can see the beaches from the dock. To the left is another short paddle and will take you right into Turtle Beach in the town center next to the cruise ships. You'll have to try some "jerk" chicken, a Jamaican favorite. There is a jerk chicken restaurant at the end of town where the locals go but take it easy on the jerk sauce if you value your taste buds. lol We booked a private taxi ride with Exquisite Jamaican Tours to transport us to and from the airport for US$80 each way. Overall, we had a great experience and highly recommend this place as a destination.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a detailed review, and we are delighted that you enjoyed yourselves. I have to point out a typo on the comment on what we display throughout the cottage - the letter "f" should be deleted!!

Staying in the cottage at Te Moana was like living in a cross between an art gallery and an antique store. I never tired of looking at all the arty paintings and wall hangings that decorate the house. Add to that the many soft colors of the walls and furnishings, the playful arrangements of shells and little boxes and carvings on the window shelves. And outside, just right there, is the tropical sea and sky, exhibiting their own array of mesmerizing colors. Take your sketch book, your paintbox, the books you can't wait to immerse yourself in. Snorkle every morning and examine the underwater garden of corals and neon fishes. And relax. Feel the gentle breezes and and listen to the waves. For an additional treat spend a day at Reggae Beach, a little costly, at $9.50 per person, but by avoiding a cruise ship day you may have it all to yourself. Order the lunch and they will bring you a wooden table and chairs, and a delicious meal on china plates--right there on the beach. Peter and Annabella Proudlock are excellent hosts and they know their island very well. The cottage was clean, well supplied, and a very fun place to stay.Did you find this review helpful? WOW!!!!! My stay at Te Moana in the seaside cottage could not have been any better. The location is very private and peaceful, but near everything you might want to do and see. Its off a main street but once you turn off you enter a new world. I dont know where to start, the 1st floor has a well equipped kitchen. There is a dining area, a comfortable day bed, living area and doors open to a beautiful patio with dining area, chairs and hammocks. Also there is the most sexy outside shower and restroom in JA. Upstairs is a large bedroom with sitting area and a second restroom. The kingsize bed was very cozy and I loved the view from the windows. There is a TV in the bedroom with all the premium channels. Peter and Annabella are the best host and were always available next door with any questions or problems. There was no need for AC the tradewinds kept the cottage cool and sleeping with the windows open is a must because you can. I have to say everything you need is there. The cottage has its own entrance so it feels like your own private cottage, there is a beautiful garden, and deck where I would have my morning tea. Stairway to a grotto where kayaks are stored and then another stairway to a sun deck and the sea, where you can swin, chill and watch the sunset. We had dinner a few times on the deck. I did not leave the cottage but to shop for groceries maybe because I know the area so well or because I did not need or want to eveything is there. Its a wonderful, special, place where the owners and staff make you feel at home. I miss it and cant wait to return to my new friend that shared to cottage with me Kayak the cat. Thank you Peter and Annabella for making my birthday just a little more special. This is now the only place I will stay when I'm in Ochi.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Te Moana is a beautiful seaside cottage with everything you need for a real Jamaican experience! No boring, cookie cutter resort here! The views are excellent, the hammocks are great, the sitting decks are perfect, and the beds are very comfortable. The cottage is in an ideal location. It's very private and safe, but also close to everything like Dunns River Falls and other attractions. The owners, Peter and Annabella are nice and helpful but they also give you your own privacy too. The market is within walking distance or you can easily get a taxi for a few dollars. Vincent, one of their preferred drivers was very knowledgeable and trustworthy. We highly recommend using his services. Annette and Farron were also very helpful and we appreciated their openness to share their Jamaican culture with us. Next time, we’ll get the bammies cooked just right! My sister’s and I had an awesome time and wish we could have stayed longer. We enjoyed getting to know Kayak, Happy, Leila, Nero, and the rest of your pets! Thanks for an unforgettable vacation at Te Moana!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Delighted that you had a good time, and thank you for sharing your experience. You certainly got out and about a lot, and I am sure that Vincent also wishes that you could have stayed longer! There is still so much more to see, so come back soon. All that's good, Peter

Our family of four stay at the cottage. Our oungest slept on the couch. No Problem Man. Beautiful views and reef right to the dock area. Great for snorkeling, lots of see life right under your nose. Host lead us to some great adventures and restuarants. Walked to town a few times and took lots of taxis. Fun Funk Place. We were traveling through the Caribbean Islands for 6 ½ weeks and we definitely preferred Jamaica! During our 9 days at Harmony Hall we enjoyed the peace and tranquility provided by Annabella and Peter Proudlock. The first night we stayed in one of the beautiful Guest Rooms, the following week we lived in the comfortable and calm Garden Cottage and the last night in the funky and arty Seaside Cottage – all the studios are excellent - very well equipped and tastefully furnished. The balconies and verandas proved to be the best feature with beautiful views over an amazing coral reef that is perfect for kayaking, snorkeling and diving as well as for swimming. The sunsets - well words escape us! Sitting on the Cliffside deck in the evenings watching the sunset while enjoying a cool drink was the most relaxing thing to do! The art provided by Annabella made the beautiful place even more special and intimate. Thanks again to Vincent who was our driver during the whole time of our stay and who did a perfectly good job! Thanks to Annett and Darren as well who were always keen to make our stay even more comfortable. We are already saving our money for the next trip to Jamaica which will definitely be at Harmony Hall again! All the best for all of you, Alex & BaerbelRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
