The California Coastal Cottage, located just steps from the beach in Ventura,is perfectly situated for visiting scenic Santa Barbara and the Central Coast wineries. Under the wonderful sunny skies of Southern California, you will find miles of beautiful beaches, a thriving harbor filled with recreational and commercial boats, and the feel of Old California in our historic downtown and Mission district.
Ventura, a historical mission town, is located just an hour north of Los Angeles and one-half hour south of Santa Barbara on California's beautiful coastline. The regional airports are located at Oxnard (ten miles) and Santa Barbara (35 miles).
While renting a car is advisable, it is possible to reach the cottage via airport bus/shuttle service and Amtrak. Local bus service in the Ventura and surrounding areas is available.
Cable TV, VCR, wi-fi internet access, fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, enclosed backyard/patio area, bar-b-q grill, nearby shopping and restaurants, washer/dryer, bicycles. Parking for 2-3 cars.

The information provided in the listing for this property was accurate, so there were no surprises when we arrived. The owner provided all the necessary information to arrive at the cottage and access the cottage, so we had no difficulties-this was important after arriving from a long flight from Europe. The cottage is a quick hop to a wonderful, unspoilt beach that is dog friendly. Clearly the weather in Ventura is not exactly the typical southern california hot, but this is ideal if travelling with young kids as we did. There are bikes available in the house to use which is great as there is a long bike path that follows the coastline, where there are a few kiddie parks along the way. There is a good surfing spot a few miles up the road and there are rental places near-by so its easy to indulge in that very SoCal surfing experience. The house is not 'modern', but it is very comfortable and quaint and has all the amenities available to settle quickly..all kitchen equipment, laudry equipment and linens..even beach towels. Nothing is 'new', but everything works. We were very happy with our stay as we wanted to have access now and again to Santa barbara and LA, but with young kids the priority was the beach and calm...we definately got this. The street is calm...not a party zone..There are a few local restaurants within walking distance which are great, family owned places...definately recommend Joanafina's mexican cantina...Traffic to and from LA was heavy so this should be borne in mind for day trips.

My family loved this cottage. There's nothing like hearing the crashing waves at night, when we're trying to go to sleep. Aaaaah... :) My children loved the large backyard, 3 minutes from the freeway, very short distance from the beach, Marina Park, Surf-N-Yogurt; beach living at it's best. We stayed for about 7 MONTHS and loved it! Owner was very accommodating with any reasonable request, and we ended up being good friends with their house caretaker minutes from this house. I highly recommend this cottage if you want a cozy, beach experience... Thanks for everything Leslie!!!

An adorable cottage a few steps to a semi private beach and the sparkling waters of the Pacific. The owners deliver exactly what they promise: cozy comfort, ease. affordability, and availability in the help of an overseer within minutes of a phone call should you need assistance. The patio is sundrenched and flower-filled; and in the garage you will find beach towels aplenty, sand chairs, boogie boards, and bicycles. Take advantage one day of the nearby wine country north of Santa Barabra in legendary Los Olivos -- made famous by the film SIDEWAYS -- and be sure to visit the Fess Parkway Vineyard -- fabulous award winning wines! There were four of women on our escape: a soprano, a prosecutor, a minister, and a professor-- who is also a writer. It was an enchanting weeklong escape that we will cherish forever.
