This is a calm and private retreat with water views and everything you might need for a bit of peaceful rest and relaxation. At the same time, if you would like more activity, it is very conveniently located, near all the attractions and outdoor activities that bring people to the mid coast of Maine. Don and Bev are wonderful hosts, delightful people, and full of good tips and information to help you get the most from your stay in this beautiful area.

Your property, barn, gardens, house and geese stocked pond are all terrific! We love the 18" pine planks floor boards, the aged rough wood trim, the thick green grass outside and the expansive space on the inside.

We found hospitable people and beautiful spots to rest, coves, harbors, homes and architecture. Keep up the Windjammer Barn tradition.

My wife and I stayed earlier this year and the experience was mixed. The home is very "rustic Maine" and it was only a short walk to the rocky beach. The sunrise was wonderful in the huge windows. The cute center of Lincolnville beach was right down the street. Unfortunatly...I was very very disappointed with the fact that there was no cable tv! The write-up says it has t.v., but buyer beware! It only means there is an actual television set, but it only gets one channel. Which after a few days gets very boring. There was a vcr but we were never able to find the remote (until the last day when we found it stuffed in the sleeper sofa) to use it so I needed to buy a vcr in order to watch evening movies! The owners also claim to have wireless internet, but again buyer beware! The only place the wireless works is on the counter in the bathroom. This is not very convienent if you need to use the laptop for business as I did. I found myself having no choice but to take care of my work while sitting in the bathroom. Because of the business I am in I only would rent a place that has wireless. In my opinion these two things are misleading and should be changed on the rental discription. All in all the place is decent, but will get very boring very fast if you are hoping for a romantic getaway.
Owner response:I am very sad that the renter did not have a first rate visit. Mid coast Maine is a pretty spectacular area and for the couples that have stayed here, until now we have never had anyone complain about either boredom or lack of romance. We always ask several times if there is anything we can do to make a stay more enjoyable, and quickly respond to guest concerns. Wireless is available in other places in the Barn and Homeaway sites list satellite/cable as a separate amenity. I can only wish that the renter had asked so we could have addressed his concerns while he was here.

Imagine curling up on a nice, big, soft, cozy sofa looking out a HUGE picture window watching the big white puffy clouds floating across the bright blue sky over Penobscot Bay where all shapes and sizes of boats and ships ply the waters. Select a book from the extensive library, watch the birds and wildlife around the pond, or work on your favorite project or hobby in the comfort of the expansive Great Room. You'll find all the comforts of home in the unique quaint setting yet convenient to restaurants: "cheap and cheerful" to elegant dining to fast food or take out. Prefer to cook at home?? there are plenty of cooking utensils and nearby farmer's markets, produce stands, lobster outlets, groceries whatever you could need or want. Just a short drive (or walk) north is Lincolnville Beach with lovely Camden Harbor a few miles south. There are concerts, lectures, book reviews, wineries, antiqueing, shopping, hiking, boating, storytelling,: endless possibilities. We were there in the summer, but I can just imagine the wonders of autumn, winter, or spring in the Lovely Windjammer Barn where your hosts are friendly and full of information and suggestions to make your vacation personal and memorable. We spent August 2008 there and loved it.
Owner response:When people enjoy both the Barn and the area, what could be better? Come see us and see both!

We enjoyed our stay in Maine during late May. My husband & I have always wanted to convert a barn into a home, so it was interesting to stay at the Windjammer Barn. We found it quite quaint and rustic, but very comfortable. Our adult children especially enjoyed the pond, the geese and the chickens on the property. Nothing like fresh eggs for breakfast! We liked the central location - close to Camden, Rockport, Rockland and Belfast. The Schooner Olad provided a great view of Camden Harbor - wonderful trip! Another bright spot was watching Patti blow glass at the Prism Glass Gallery - dinner there at the Gallery Cafe was a special treat. Hiking Mt. Battie and the view of Camden Harbor is not to be missed. We did watch t.v. at night just to get the news, weather and sports. We were able to choose from several stations. While there was no cable, we did enjoy a few movies from the on-site movie library. Didn't travel to Maine to watch t.v.! Don was very helpful in suggesting local points of interest and the local lobster mart. Nothing like a Maine lobster boil in your own kitchen! We wish that we could have taken the view from the large greatroom windows home with us - the view of the Bay is wonderful! It wasn't warm enough to swim, but we enjoyed our moonlight strolls along Lincolnville Beach. All in all, our family enjoyed our stay in Maine and at the Windjammer Barn.

Really enjoyed our visit and have fallen in love with Maine. Your hospitality has touched us all - the highlight has to be our lobster lesson. The main barn room is a remarkable space allowing five adults the space to co-exist peacefully.

What a wonderful place to stay. The cool breezes throughout the house enabled us to feel out in the open. Watching the ucks and chickens each night was fun. Simply having the connection to nature relaxed our souls.

My wife, two young daughters (ages 1 and 3) and mother stayed here and we all loved it. There was plenty of space for all of us, and the owners (who live next door) were wonderfully helpful. They really went out of their way to be good hosts, and we would absolutely recommend staying here. It's a short, easy drive to Camden, and even closer to the beach (though it was too cold for us to visit)." MaxL Boston, MA
