Arrived to a dirty home with dog hair everywhere. The pictures need to be updated. They certainly do not represent how things look now. Beware that one room advertised as a bedroom had no door and you walk through the bedroom to get to the loft. The golf card did not work. We call for 3 days. Finally when we asked for a refund the owner deliver another golf cart. Upon arrival the pool filter was not working and the pool was dirty. The dishwasher does not clean the dishes. Only 3 chairs at the pool, one of which was broken. I could say more but will just say, we won't be back! First bad experience we have had in over 12 years of renting homes.

This was our first year traveling to IOP. We needed a house with at least 3 bedrooms, nice sized living room, a pool, and a fenced in area for our dog. This house had everything we needed and was within 1 1/2 blocks of the beach. The furnishings are fairly typical beach house, functional more than comfortable, but there is plenty of room and most everything works pretty well. We had one minor problem with Internet connectivity when we first arrived but the owner helped to get it quickly resolved. The back yard is slightly smaller than it looks in the pictures, but other than that, the pictures are very accurate as to what to expect. Our dog enjoyed the fenced in back yard and our kids enjoyed the pool. There were a couple of cool days there the pool heater was very helpful. All in all, it's a spacious home, near the beach, with just about everything you might need for the week. We give it 4 out of 5 stars.

This is my 2nd year at this home. I have made it a tradition to bring my kids and grandchildren to the beach each summer while I still can. Our day starts and the beach in the morning, afternoon cool off at the pool and playset, nap time for the old and young , then we spend time at the dock catching fish. I am not sure what fish we catch but the kids have a ball pulling them in. we also visited charleston 2 day's during my stay, I enjoy the history this town provides although it was hot and enjoyed jumping in the pool on arrival . last year we came earlier in the year, and the ocean was a little cold and the fishing was not as good. The home has some updating from our last stay , mostly painting and carpet ( the carpet needed it so it was nice to see new carpet down ) we enjoyed the boathouse for dinner as a treat one night, and my kids walked down to the windjammer at night while I read and watched the grandkids. We will be coming back!

My husband, kids and I stayed here over the 4th of July holiday. We found the home to be very accomodating and the children had plenty of fun things to do besides going to the beach (playset, pool, toys, fireworks on the beach were amazing). Overall we had a very nice vacation and would recommend the home to others.

Pros: Location (5 min walk to beach and 10 minutes to bars and restaurants), pool table, pool and yard are nice (though we were swarmed by mosquito's nearly all week). Cons: House sways in the wind (not kidding, look at the bracing underneath house). This should not be called a 4 bedroom (bedrooms have doors). 2 bedrooms are private, loft is semi private but the 3rd bedroom you have to walk through to get to loft, no privacy there (and no crib as shown in pictures). The house is in need of updating (putting it nicely) the main bath on 2nd floor is moldy and tile looks to be held on with caulk (I wouldn't have stayed in a hotel room with a bath like that). The master bath is not much better, the amenities are there but old and falling apart, there. Water damage under a lot of windows and water entered the loft during a rain. Pictures don't show peeling wallpaper, repaired holes in doors, moldy tile and a property that looks like its there for profit only. Bottom line, the house was overpriced for what it was. The owner was responsive on a few issues but not enough to make us feel like we got our money's worth. The golf cart is in dis-repair (only worked barely one day) and should not be listed as any kind of perk. We have stayed in many vacation houses over the years, from Outerbanks to Tybee island, this is the first house we have been let down by, enough to say we were disappointed. I would not recommend this house to friend or family.

Synopsis: While we did not expect a 5* property, we did expect a 3.5 - 4* for this price. It is our opinion this property would rate 2.5-3 at best. Isle of Palms provides a very nice vacation location and we enjoyed our time. This property has potential, but it's state of upkeep and unsatifactory furnishings in many areas left us feeling disappointed and over charged. The descriptions of this property, and even the pictures don't really give you an accurate view of this house. The pictures used for the listing must be several years old. There is a bush/tree behind the waterfall to the pool where fruit would drop in the pool everyday, birds used the top area of the pool waterfall for a bird bath and when the waterfall was turned on it would deposit a lot of debris into the pool and there wasn't anything to clean it out with. Three of the outside lounge chairs were broken and couldn't be used. The palm tree growing up by the pool is much larger than shown and obscurs the view from the porch. The porch overlooking the pool should have been a great sitting/gathering area. Unfortunately, it has very uncomfortable furniture, has an old wooden picnic table on it, the screen door to the porch would only close if it was locked and upon our arrival the screen in the porch door screen was flapping loose and we had to fix it. The owner was called on this and a couple of other small issues, he generally gave explainations but did not show concern or offer aid. There wasn't a double oven and the stove top was aweful, no ice maker. The pool table/dinning table was a good idea however the chairs didn't fit under it to allow you to sit comfortably. Everything in the downstairs I might expect to find in a frat house. (Decorated with unmatched "stuff", poor furniture with no support you just sink down and struggle to get out of ect.). Window coverings are terrible, if they exist. Bedroom three has a staircase going through it so no privacy at all, and bedrooms four and five are really the same room. In reality there are only two private bedrooms. I have never used such cheap toilet paper and paper towels in my life...didn't even know such thin paper products were made. We had 8 in our party including one small child. The gas grill is small and has a burned out burner, so grilling was very difficult. And you cannot cook enough for the house at one time. We could go on...

Owner response: We spend each winter working on projects & fixing any maintenance issues on our home. If we have maintenance issues arise during a guests stay, and are told about the problem, we correct it immediately. As owners, we feel it is important to correct a few of the incorrect or misleading comments left by a guest who stayed with us during early June 2012. This guest was allowed to check in Early and then complained that the pool was not clean. The pool company cleans the pool prior to the 4pm check-in & they did show up at their scheduled time. As far as the pictures go, we do send out a virtual tour which is updated each January by our photographer. I did find 2 bedroom pics which were two yrs.old and they have been updated on the website. As for the pool having no pool net, there is one at the pool now, but we have a pool company that will clean the pool as needed during a guests stay. Upon inspection, we did find 1 broken chair by the pool and it has been replaced. The pool was designed by a local artist and is unique. Our home can accommodate up to 10 people and the pool is an adequate size for that number. The waterfall button did go out during their stay, however when the guest called, we went to the home and fixed it within 24 hrs and it is working. As for the picnic table, it is a traditional wooden picnic table, as shown in the picture and it is 2 yrs old. The Palm tree can easily be trimmed back, but we have found most people enjoy the added privacy that it provides the porch area. There is no double oven (but we do not advertise that there is). It is a standard Whirlpool oven with a smooth ceramic cook top. The refrigerator was purchased in March 2012 & does have an ice maker which works properly (not sure if he expected an additional ice maker?). In addition, there is a fridge under the house for extra sodas & food. The furniture is in good condition, and items were picked for durability (it is a rental w/many guests, a pool and guests access the beach). The guest stated bedroom 4 &5 are the same room, well yes they are. We have never advertised 5 bedrooms. We always counted the 3rd floor loft as bedroom #4 (maybe he is remembering a different home online). The toilet paper supplied keeps in the standards of homes that are on a septic tank. (Most homes on IOP have septic). The grill was replaced 3/1/12 and I checked and the burner does work. I’m sorry that the guest did not find our home to be to his liking, but we have many guests who r

My family and I had a very nice week vacationing at IOP and we really enjoyed our stay in this house. It was a very spacious home which comfortably fit our family and relatives from up north. The children had a great time in the pool, playing on the playset, and going to the beach. The adults had a great time too. We were so happy to be able to grill out most nights. We loved the grill and it seemed to be new. I would like to mention that the house was clean and the carpet looked brand new and it had nice bahama style fans. I do want to mention that we had an issue with one of the TV remotes not working. We called and the owner came out and replaced it for us right away. I will definately stay here again. I think it would be nice to stay in the winter and be able to use the fireplace. I think it would be just cozy to be at the beach at that time of year.

My wife and family have been coming to the Isle of Palms and staying at this property for the last 4 years in a row. Each year we come the owners have made improvements to the property. Our family feels at home here and enjoys all the island has to offer. It's a cosy place with a beautiful landscape. Anything we ever need is just a phone call away. This last time we had asked the owner about where we could purchase some some fresh shrimp. He said he would be right over and brought us some he had caught. Very nice. We recommend this home for family's of all ages. Thanks again for another great summer vacation. See you next year!

I stayed in this comfortable house in May with 9 graduate students and a dog. We all had a great experience. The house was clean and as described in these reviews. The backyard pool was a nice feature - small but comfortable and deeper than it looks! We had trouble getting the waterfall to work, but this didn't matter too much. The screened porch was awesome and the pool table was a great feature for us as well. We also enjoyed using the golf cart and other things provided in the house including beach chairs, grill, beach towels, toys etc. The fenced yard was great for the dog and made everything easier. After you get used to the fact that there are only two private rooms, the house comfortably slept 10. The house was close to the beach (2 blocks) and within walking distance of the downtown bars and restaurants (Windjammer). We had a great trip. The one minor thing was that the house only had zoning for four parked cars (even though there was space for more) which cased a little trouble for us, but we ended up parking the two extras at a nearby friends' house. Close to Charleston too. Overall the owner was easy to work with and we were billed as described. It was nice to have a code to enter the house and not have to deal with a key situation.

We have stayed in this home previously and have been pleased with the house and the service of the owners. This year I noticed that there were some nice updates, including new carpet and a nice, servicable picnic table added to the back porch area. There were also new lined drapes in the master bedroom, which provided a nice darkened and cool room for napping (which was better than the last time, as it was very bright at that time). The owners are gracious and very helpful. We have not encountered a serious problem at this house. It is always very clean and well maintained. I did notice that the wine glasses hanging above the wet bar were a little dusty and when I mentioned this to the owner, she quickly had her cleaning lady take care of it. All in all, we feel comfortable in staying in this home. It is conventionally located to the activities that our family enjoys. It is a wonderful place for children -- the toys, playground, pool, etc. make for a wonderful vacation for them. We trust the owners to quickly take care of any problem that we might have. We would stay here again and I would recommend this house to my family and friends.

We spent 6 days in this fantastic home on the Isle of Palms. The house was perfect for our family which included two adults, two small children, one teenager, and our family dog. Our teen loved the pool table and he stayed in the bedroom on the third floor of the house. The children really enjoyed all of toys, floats, and playground equipment. My husband and I loved the spacious master bedroom with a king-sized bed, whirlpool tub, and private balcony with ocean views. Our dog enjoyed the fenced in yard. All of us were able to enjoy the pool and we had a great time tossing beach balls with each other and relaxing. We were able to walk to the beach and the restaurants are just a few blocks away. Unfortunately, we were unable to start the golf cart, however when we called the owners they came out right away to look at it. They even called out a golf cart repair person the next day. It was nice that the owners were so responsive and they were local as well which was comforting. The house included lots of nice dishes, glasses, a wet bar, and appliances were nice as well. There were plenty of plastic dishes/cups for the kids too. We would definitely rent this home again and it was such a fantastic escape for all of us.

We had 8 adults and 2 small children stay at this house for a week. The house had everything you could possibly need from kitchen utensils to toys. My 2 1/2 yr old had a great time wih all the toys and the pool was the perfct size for her. The house was close to the beach but we would take advantage of the golf cart to help load everything up. The location was awesome...about 4 blocks away a couple shops and bars that overlooked the ocean. The owner was great to work and was available to answer all my questions. We look forward to another trip here next summer!

Pro's: Location (only 5-12 miles from everything Charlestons has to offer Owners were really easy to work with House: close to the beach golf cart really helped for hauling the stuff back and forth lots of games, kitchen supplies, and beach toys Price (stayed in Off season) Plenty of room for 6 adults and 1 infant Cons: Alot of bikes at house, however only 1 had air in tires. Owner sent a compressor out, but only got 1 more to air up. Freezer in-house would not keep items frozen such as Ice Cream (outside freezer worked fine) The 3rd bedroom is not private to the loft (stairs come down into that bedroom) Not well described on site or in pics Out by 10A, but can't enter until nearly 4P is a little rough (shouldn't take 6 hours to clean). 11A would be nice. All and all pleased with the house and our stay. House has many amentitites that are not available in other homes, however needs a little TLC and would be a perfect vacation get-a-way with a little sweat equity.

This house and location was perfect! The owners were extremely friendly and they even had a boat dock available on the island. Weve stayed in a few homes along the SC coast and this was by far the best. The yard and pool were gorgeous and everything the kids needed and much more was on site. Thanks Mr. & Mrs. Parker for a wonderful vacation! We will be seeing you next year!

We just stayed at this house. We had 5 boys ranging in ages from 11 - 18mths. This house was perfect for us. The pool was only about 3ft deep - perfect for our little people and the waterfall was a huge hit. The playground was a great for the youngest who was afraid of the pool. The house had everything we needed and the walk to the beach was easy and quick. We were delightfully surprised to find an entire armoir full of toys for the kids and there was plenty of seating for the adults. The only complaints I had was 1) we couldn't find the slats for the pool table to make it a full dining table and 2) we also couldn't locate a skimmer for the pool. Both of these 'negatives' in no way hampered our good time - just would've been an extra plus.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner response: Thanks for your advice- we have now placed a pool skimmer net at the home. Also wanted to tell you that the pool table top slats can be found right next to the pool table, hanging on the windows (act as privacy for windows, yet easily take down for pool table top). Glad you enjoyed your stay!

There were 6 adults and 5 kids, and the kids loved the house and all it included, especially the pool. Kind of surprised that one of the bedrooms was at the bottom of the staircase to the loft, but it ended up working out fine. It was nice that there was a crib, given that we were traveling with a 1 year old. House was clean. Carpets were a little dingy, and the walls could use some painting, but none of that took away from the vacation. Kitchen table only sat 4, and the other tables were out on the screened-in porch. Would have been nice to have a bigger table indoors, but did have a high chair which was very convenient. Very close to the beach. Owner easy to communicate with. Would recommend.

I loved my stay at this house. Beautiful home and a fabulous backyard! This was my little girl's first vacation and she loved the pool! Convenient to shops and only a one block walk to the beach. Quiet neighborhood. The only bad thing I can find to pick on is some of the walls could use a coat of paint and there were some spots on the carpet that could be cleaned. But these cosmetics are not bad enough that I will not stay here again. I plan on staying here again in the future!
