My wife and I were looking for a perfect spot to relax for a week, and we found it. Having been to Puerto Vallarta many times we are partial to Conchas Chinas for the space and beautiful views of the bay. Casa Contenta has truly spectacular views of the bay that pictures cannot describe. The home is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff and owners were a pleasure to deal with and they made the rental experience unbelievably easy.
Owner response:Hi Dan, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and nice comments about your stay. We are very happy that you enjoyed the house and staff and it met your expectations. We would love to have you return.

The discription of Casa Contenta was very accurate and more as that shown on the Website - no disappointments here. It was immaculately maitained and Mauri, the maid, is a treasure. We took our son/daughter and their families to Casa Contenta rather than an all-inclusive, to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It was the right choice for us as, after a busy day on tours, we could enjoy quality family time to-gether rather than spend that time with 300 others at an all-inclusive resort. The booking process was stress-free and the owners treated us more like friends they knew, rather than prospective renters. They phoned us after we arrived to ensure everything was O.K. and that all was in running order. I would be more than happy to recommend this property to friends and family and hope that one day we can return. The local beach is a 10 minute walk down the hill and a 5 minute taxi drive takes you to old-town Vallarta and the main beach. The owners have very kindly assembled a complete guide to PV, Restaurants, Local Attractions, Tours to take including their favorite places to eat for lunch and dinner. They also provide phone numbers for emergency, hospital, fire brigade, police, directions for small and large grocery stores and directions how to get there. Nothing has been overlooked to make sure that Casa Contenta is well equipped and everything is at your finger tips. The two story home as floor to ceiling windows with the most awesome views from both floors - awesome! The patio runs the full length of the home with stunning views out to the horizon. As it is built on a cliffside, there is nothing obstructing such awesome views and sunsets. It was a perfect way to spend such a special celebration and our family are still raving about it to-day. I cannot say enough about this beautiful home and the owners' efforts to make sure that everything was perfect for us. What a wonderful memory we have to-gether.

I would Highly recommend Casa Contenta for a stay in Vallarta. It was Spectacular!!!! The views, suites, pool and the deck as well as Maurey (The maid) is wonderful down to a Spa that sent us Pedicurist and Massage Therapist recomended by Dianne for a day on the deck that everyone will remember for ever. We were near everything we wanted yet just far enough to be tranquil and relaxing. Dianne (Owner) was Amazing and so easy to work with This is money well spent and we staayed for 2 weeks and will be returning again. We were also lucky enough to have 2 baby whales that plaayed and jumped in the Bay every day our last week aand I have never experienced aanything like it truly an experience of a life time. Bob Johnson, Michigan
Owner response:Bob, we are so happy that you enjoyed your two weeks at Casa Contenta. We try to give you personalized, individual attention and care. Thank you for writing such a nice review. So glad you got the gift of the baby whales watching them from the terrace! We hope you return next year as you all were wonderful guests. Dianne

From the moment we stepped in the front door we knew we had chosen the perfect place for our vacation. Each room has a magnificent view that the pictures just can't quite capture. The owners and the staff really wanted to make our stay first rate- and they succeeded. Casa Contenta was just that- we had everything we needed there and loved the house so much that we rarely left- having 3 dinners cooked for us there and masseurs come out to the house. However, we did have a day out snorkeling which was beautiful and fun and had some very yummy dinners in town at La Palapa, Barcelona Tapas, and Trio.

We stayed at the beautiful Casa Contenta as a get-away for 4 couples. Us four girls have known each other since grade school a long, long time ago. So it was us and our husbands. We don't get together often and have never been together for any length of time and this "villa" was the PERFECT place to unwind. It is large enough that no one got in anyone's way... and fun in that we could hang out in the pool, cook in the beautiful kitchen, nap in the shade, sleep until we wanted to get up. When booking Casa Contenta, I could see us sitting at the bar on the patio.. and the vision came true. It was just perfect. Everything worked; good water pressure, great showers, comfortable beds. No blinds on the master bedroom or Holly suite windows but it wasn't a problem. Having a daily maid is good and she made breakfast on three mornings. We had Martha make dinner for us one night which was probably the best meal we had... and very reasonable. We had a problem learning the city. I wish there would have been a better map. We could not find a good grocery store and ended up at Costco way on the other end of town... but it was a very funny adventure! Now I know there is a Mega also at the other end of town that would have suited us better than Costco. The taxi service is great... they are at the house in a few minutes. The walk to the beach is a good 20 minutes (a cab is necessary to get back up) and there is no way you can walk to town from here. And, Dianne, the owner, is my new BFF! She is great to work with! We were "Contenta" to just stay put for the better part of our visit. Total luxury, five star accommodations, a great value, relaxing and SO beautiful!!!
Owner response:We are so happy you loved your stay at Casa Contenta. I want to say a word about walking to town. Most all of our guests walk to town for the fun of it and it takes about 20-30 minutes on a side street passing lovely beach villas along the way. The hike back up the hill to the house is steep and many people like it for exercise while others grab an inexpensive taxi!

"Perfection" Casa Contenta is the perfect setting for a vacation in Puerta Vallarta. The home is elegant yet comfortable. The patio area is the perfect place for relaxing and fun. Every bedroom has its own charm and privacy. We loved cooking in the fabulous kitchen. There are ocean views from everywhere that are amazing. The housekeeper Mauri is a delight and keeps everything tidy. She made us a wonderful Mexican meal too. We loved every minute!

We doubted that the views and the house could be as good as the photos but it's incredible. We've all seen the hotel pool photo that magically excludes the overhead freeway - NONE of that at Casa Contenta. It is just as comfortable and breathtaking as the pictures reflect. Big beds, big bathrooms, showers that'll drown you, and a kitchen with state of the art appliances and a sweetly singing housekeeper who polishes everything until it shines. Do the math like we did: divide the rental rate by four bedrooms to get at a nightly rate per room - you won't beat it for luxury anywhere in PV!

The house was great for our group of 8 friends. Mauri makes a mean breakfast and the hired chef, Marta, makes a fantastic meal. I highly recommend that you ask the manager, Mercedes, to arrange for Mauri, who is there 6 days a week as the maid, and Marta to cook for you. It's nice to have a great meal or two in the house and for a great price. More than worth the price to not need to go out or cook, shop, and clean up. The house has up to date furnishings and all the amenities that you should need for a great vacation. It's easy to get taxis to get up and down the hill, but you can walk to the beach and downtown. Dianne, the owner, is very attentive. If your bucket list includes watching whales swim by while sipping on cocktails in your own infinity pool, put this house in PV on your list (during whale season, of course). We would definitely rent this house again and will recommend it to our friends.

I admit, I've been tempted to write a bad review that way Casa Contenta won't be booked next time I want to go! (Which is in a couple of months!) 1. The pictures don't do it justice. I was nervous walking in (I brought 5 of my girlfriends down for a birthday party) and was worried it wouldn't be as good as the pictures on the website. Boy was I wrong. The girls literally started screaming and jumping up and down once they walked in. 2. Everyone is so helpful. Diane (the owner who is stateside) is great to work with and has great ideas for things to do depending on your group; Mercedes (the concierge) handles everything onsite; Maury (the housekeeper) makes the best breakfast and suprised us with pandulce as a treat; and Martha (the cook) makes guacamole and margaritas that I can't stop thinking about! 3. Infinity pool, shopping, beaches, great food, massages on the deck. How can this be anything, but heaven?
Owner response:Wow, Crystal! I am blown away with all of your wonderful comments about your stay at Casa Contenta. I am so happy that you and your friends enjoyed it so much. We would love to have you back! Thank you for taking the time to write such a heartfelt review. Dianne

Casa Contenta provides everything possible for a relaxed, luxury vacation. Ideally suited for four couples or a family with adult children, the owners have attended to every detail -- luxury linens, capable cook and maid, awe inspiring views and a property contact person to answer every question. A detailed notebook within guides the guest to great restaurants, sites and services to ensure a comfortable stay. A highlight for us was securing Chef Lalo to cook red snapper VeraCruz for a farewell dinner in-house. We were spoiled and pampered the entire time and wish we could have taken Maid Mauri home with us. Casa Contenta is a traveler's delight!

We had a fabulous time at this Villa. The views are wonderful and the layout is great for 4 couples. We all had are privacy and the large patio and living areas allowed for a lot of flexibility in seating and relaxing. We cannot sing enough praises about Maria, she truly makes this Villa extremely special. She prepared us some fantastic local breakfast and was always willing to mix up a fresh batch of guacamole or salsa. The property is well maintained and beautifully fiurnished and decorated.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your great review and we are very happy you enjoyed your stay at Casa Contenta. Many people feel the same way you do about Mauri and would like to take her home with them. You were wonderful guests and we would love for you to return again.

What an amazing place Casa Contenta is! The place was even better than the photos. A little piece of heaven. It is well maintained and the owners are very thoughtful in all the information that they give you. The start of our trip was wonderful especially being given a margarita as we enter our home away from home. We would truly recommend Casa Contenta to our friends and relatives. The view is the best part, overlooking the ocean and watching the sunsets every evening. We enjoyed our strolls on the Malacon every night and listened to entertainment as we walked. We would definitely go back again.

Our stay here at Casa Contenta was simply perfect! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Mercedes and Mauri, who are the property manager and housekeeper. After our sticky hot ride from the airport, the first thing they did was put a frosty delicious margarita in our hand, accompanied by some freshly made salsa and chips. Mercedes was extremely helpful with gathering information and arranging side trips. Mauri was there daily to cater to our every need, and keep the house fresh and clean. Exploring the city each day was a morning event, followed by crashing into our own private pool to float for an hour, cool off, and then relax and read or watch the amazing views and sunsets (from any place in the villa). Breakfast was a short walk down to the beach. Dinners were spent at some of the best restaurants. We highly recommend Trio, Hacienda Angel (especially on Friday night when they have an excellent Mariachi band), Michael's, or Maxamillian's. A great place for lunch is Joe Jack's Fish Shack, for the best Mojitos with Fish & Chips! If you love horseback riding, we suggest you try Rancho Capomo. It is a beautiful ranch up in the jungle, and the ride crosses the river several times before reaching the falls. The horses are in very good shape, well cared for and trained. Our trip there was one of the highlights of our time in Puerta Vallarta. Casa Contenta is an oasis of beauty, relaxation and quiet surrender. Each room is simply lovely. We can't say enough to help one understand how you will feel from the moment you walk into the Villa and see the breath taking views. The hosts, Dianne and John, have created a quiet paradise that is worth experiencing! We want to thank John and Dianne for creating something so lovely, and Mercedes and Mauri for ensuring that we enjoyed each moment at the Casa. Best Wishes for a great time in Puerta Villarta! A group of friends and I made the journey down to Puerto Vallarta for a long weekend and Casa Contenta was one of the highlights of our trip. Everything about the house is great, the views are awesome and the owners/staff are extremely helpful, accessible and pleasant to work with. The property is very well maintained, there is plenty of space and overall it's just an incredibly nice atmosphere. The pool and deck are great for hanging out and cooking on the grill. It was easy to get into the city, which we did quite often - each time we called the taxi service, our cars would arrive in 5 minutes. We arranged breakfast to be cooked each morning, which was a great decision. We really couldn't have asked for a better trip, or a better place to stay. I highly recommend Casa Contenta and I hope to return for another visit!

Memorable Stay at Casa Contenta Las Vegas, NV Date of Stay: May 2008 We have vacationed with two other couples annually for the past twelve years, staying exclusively in private rented homes. Our stay at Casa Contenta has to rank as our most memorable. When we first stepped into the courtyard-patio entrance to Casa Contenta, our immediate reaction was “Wow”. The unique open design, the magnificent not to be forgotten views of the Pacific Ocean, Banderous Bay and mountains beyond and our unexpected greeting by Mercedes and Mauri with refreshing margaritas will remain vividly in our memories for a long time to come! Casa Contenta is conveniently located close to town in an exclusive, yet seemingly “remote” location. From its unparallel views from almost everywhere within the home, to its spacious bedrooms and common areas, and its well coordinated furnishings Casa Contenta should be on every luxury vacationers' “Bucket List”.

What a lovely place! We stayed at Casa Contena for five wonderful days and nights. The house is lovely, tastefully furnished and very comfortable. The location was great and included free exercise walking up the hill! The pool is great for relaxing, but not really for swimming. We enjoyed just "floating" and watching the sunset'each night. Mauri was wonderful and takes beautiful care of the house. We paid extra for her to prepare breakfast and it was well worth it. We hired Lalo to prepare dinner and we loved it so much that we hired him for a second night and asked him to prepare the same meal! All, in all a great place.

We had a ball at Casa Contenta! Our group of friends has been visiting Puerto Vallarta for several years. We've stayed in a different villa each time and Casa Contenta gets high marks for beauty, location, comfort and staff. Mauri, our housekeeper, made sure that everyone had what they needed. We hired a cook who prepared two fantastic dinners. The villa itself is more beautiful than the pictures in the website suggest. We used the pool every day, walked into town (most of us took a taxi back because we're old and out of shape), loved the convenience of the phone and wireless internet service. I'm sure that everyone in our group would give an unqualified recommendation to Casa Contenta.

Our stay at Casa Contenta far exceeded our expectations. We have been to PV many times and stayed at all the 5 star+ hotels but this setting and villa was the most beautiful of all our accommodations. Our family enjoyed lounging on the veranda, whale watching from the incredibly beautiful infinity pool, wonderful breakfasts prepared by Mauri, and relaxing in the sun. It was an easy ride to town and the sunsets every night were breathtaking. We will definitely return.

Ola! The photos on the website do not do this beautiful home justice. Walking through the archway onto the terrace was like arriving in paradise. The view is breathtaking. We spent our days exploring the town and the surrounding areas. We spent our cocktail hours watching whales and beautiful Banderas Bay. We had three couples and were very comfortable. Another couple could have been easily accommodated but the view from the smallest suite is not as grand. This home is just as comfortable as it is beautiful. It is totally open so you feel like you are out in the wonderful weather all the time. I think that Diane and John have a vacation home that surpasses expections. Thanks Mari and Mercedes. You made us feel welcome and comfortable. Do not miss a trip into the Sierra Madre to San Sebastian and make sure you stop at the Hacienda San Sebatian Tequilla Distillery on the way. Also, make sure to take a trip to Bucerias, a beautiful wide beach. Walking up and down the hill is a great daily walk, but it is best to have a car. We had one of the best vacations ever and would not hesitate to recommend this home to other travellers. Adios!
Owner response:Thank you for all your wonderful comments. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Casa Contenta and enjoyed Puerto Vallarta. I wish somehow we could capture the "Wow" factor through photographs, but you just have to experience it in person! We would love to have you back. Dianne

This is a wonderful place for 8 or fewer people to vacation. 4 unique Master BRs and spectacular views of Banderas Bay.Its not an easy walk to anywhere, which is good, its very private despite the density of the neighborhood. Taxis arrive in 3 minutes and take 3 people anywhere in town for $6.Though this seems like a stand alone Villa, its one of 3 condos hugging the cliff. The only evidence of "condo" is the extra security of the entrance making you feel very safe. The kitchen is totally appointed to cook on your own which we did on 4 nights. Shopping for groceries is a fun adventure in itself. Mauri (the housekeeper) is efficient an unflappable and cooks a great breakfast. She felt like family by the end of the week. We decided early on that Contenta was the best place for cocktails in PV, though the town has many places to experience its difficult to leave this slice of paradise. The group that vacationed here was very savvy (our last Villa being on the Amalfi coast) but we all agreed that any future PV vacation will be in Contenta.

We simply loved this place and found it difficult to leave. The kitchen being fully equiped allowed us (4 gourmet chefs btw) to dine "at home" after cocktails on the terrace overlooking a spectular view of the bay. Grocery shopping was a fun adventure in itself. We have nothing negative to say about amazing Contenta, though I must admit I thought it was a stand alone Villa and then discovering its one of 3 condos hugging a high cliff. Condo shmondo, the place is totally private, seems like it stands alone but has the added security of an additional entrance gate. Forget walking anywhere, just take a taxi (3 people anywhere in PV for $6) which arrives in less than 3 minutes. PV is a great place and Contenta is a great place to have as your home base, if you can pry yourself off the deck or out of the infinity pool to venture out.

We have rented a half dozen houses for holidays over the years from Hawaii to the Caribbean, and this was definitely the best overall. Beyond the beautiful setting, we noticed that the house was unusually well furnished with high quality, newer, very tasteful furniture. It felt spacious. The general condition and overall cleanliness were excellent; really remarkable for a property in Mexico and one that is rented. The plantings/flowers were really a pleasant surprise and truly make the large terrace a garden retreat. The beds were all comfortable, the plumbing worked great (not always true in Mexico/Caribbean) and the kitchen left nothing to desire. The wireless internet service was a huge hit with us (3 laptops going all the time), and the iPod hook-up was indispensable. Mauri, the maid, did an excellent job, and the pool guy was 'invisible'. The accommodation made by Mercedes to greet us at midnight was much, much appreciated. She was cheerful, very helpful on the tour and had frozen margaritas waiting, which we really needed after a 22-hour door-to-door travel nightmare. The detailed information that was provided in advance was superb. We could just tell that this house was going to be special -- and that it was well cared for -- based on the comprehensive information that was provided in advance. We appreciate the difference that a detail-oriented, caring owner can make, as we own one also. We found that the taxis were very convenient; Muertos Beach was nice; and the town offered some nice shopping. We felt very safe. The restaurants are extraordinary -- St. Maarten has nothing on PV!! We had just 2 hours of clouds across 10 days -- that is just incredible. The good weather facilitated a couple days at the beach, a day of shopping, a day on ATV's and a day on a snorkel cruise -- all interspersed with days lounging at "home" on the patio. We will certainly be back to PV in the future. Thank you for sharing your well-cared for beautiful home. We had a fabulous holiday!! Kevin Curran & Family Buffalo, NY

Our group stayed in Casa Contenta 4/28/07 through 5/5/07. I personally have been to Puerto Vallarta over a dozen times, and stayed at many different hotels, and this by far was my best experience. As many have said the pictures cannot do justice to the beautiful views from the patio. The location is excellent, just a 5 minute cab ride into downtown. We love the restaurants in PV but one of the best meals we had was brining in a chef for an evening. It was a fantastic meal and a beautiful sunset. I hope that we'll be able to get our group back together and stay here again in the future.

Casa Contenta is a large and luxurious retreat in an exclusive neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta. The entire staff was warm and inviting and eager to make everyday of our trip absolutely perfect. The pool, the grounds, and the house are exquisite and perfectly cleaned and maintained. The pictures you find of Casa Contenta on the internet fall far short of capturing the true beauty of the home, the terrace, and those incredible sunsets. The owner was a kind and professional hostess who went far out of her way to accommodate the particular requests we had so that our friends and family had a comfortable and memorable stay in her home. I would highly recommend Casa Contenta to anyone considering a trip to Puerto Vallarta.
Owner response:Thank you, Michelle, for such a wonderful review and comments. We would love for you to return to Casa Contenta anytime. You were the perfect kind of renters! Dianne

We love Casa Contenta and the amazing scenic views. You feel that you have stepped into paradise. This villa is large but yet feels so comfortable and welcoming. The owners have thought of everything to make our stay so enjoyable. We can't wait to come back.

Enjoying PV and having Casa Contenta as our base was just perfect. We looked forward every day to returning from the beach and enjoying the pool and last rays of sunshine on the terrace. We plan to return to PV next year and Casa Contenta will be first on our list of places to stay. It is BIG and SPACIOUS and a perfect retreat for the two of us.

We enjoyed your wonderful home. Our best memories are of watching the sunset from the terrace and hanging out at the house. We love Mauri--her breakfasts are amazing and she even gave us a cooking lesson. The house is spectacular; we love looking at the ocean from every room. Every detail, down to the soft towels in the house is of high quality and well cared for. The whole experience exceeded our expectations and we truly hope we can come back to Casa Contenta in the future.

This home is perfect! We compliment you on doing a wonderful job of decorating. Casa Contenta is a paradise and we loved everything. Our room couldn't have been better and the view is a real bonus. We love dour stay here. All dinners and lunches were delicious, but cocktails on the terrace overlooking the bay were the best!

Many thanks to the owners of Casa Contenta for providing and welcoming us to a lovely home. We really loved Mauri, the house helper, for making some of our meals. The accommodations were exactly what we needed for much R & R. We layed around like toads and ventured out very little. No need to rush off; we were very happy here.

Incredible! I knew the moment we stepped out onto the terrace that we were many steps closer to heaven. The house, flowing design, warm details and beautiful appointments make this truly Casa Contenta. We loved our beach walks to town, shopping, sampling the wonderful restaurants, and watching the people, but we all preferred home--THIS home, for the week!

Very spacious and lots of great areas. One of the most completely equipped kitchens; wonderful towels, linens, hair dryers and more. The pool was great, heated and beautiful for evening lounging. We will be back!

Your home is exquisite--the view, the open rooms that flow into one another, the pool and of course the Romantic Zone is a stone's throw away. A very large slice of paradise. Thank you for the hospitality. It was full of memories.
