This home was so close to the beach, we were able to stroll to the beach many times a day with toddlers. The jacuzzi was like a small pool for the kids with the temperature turned down. In the evening, it was the perfect place to relax with the kids asleep nearby. The house is small but the deck and yard are large and feel like an extension of the house. The home was breezy and comfortable with the windows open during the day, and ceiling fans at night, no need for A/C. We especially liked the proximity to ocean front walk. My wife jogged the 6 mile loop to the jetty with the ocean on one side and the bay on the other, no cars or traffic. We would highly recommend this beach cottage for families that enjoy the beach and outdoors.

Our family recently spent a week at the Casita in July. To say we left disappointed would be an understatement. I don't even know where to begin and have actually never written a negative review but this time felt compelled to. 1st off the house was dirty and run down. Half the windows don't open and when the house is at 87 degrees and you don't have AC you need to open windows. The sheets in the main 2 bedrooms had holes in them and the towels were one wash away from disintegrating. The kitchen was not cleaned well at all, we had to rewash half the utensils/dishes. When we complained about it (and the cleaning fee we paid for) we were told yes it was unacceptable but because we showed up early we flustered the house cleaner. (we did show up early but only to park the car and then went to the beach). It was bad enough that on the first night (while sitting outside because half the fans didn't work and the house was still 86 degrees at 8 at night) we were considering leaving. Overall the best i can explain it is we feel disappointed and cheated by our experience. Luckily our kids are young and they enjoyed the beach, SeaWorld, LegoLand etc. The owners were very pleasant and did offer to run over some extra fans when we called but for money we spent we expected the house to be in much better shape because that kind of money for a week can get you some very nice hotel rooms.
Owner response:We are sorry to hear about this family's disappointment in the Casita. All the linens and towels have since been replaced with new ones. This home is a very popular beach rental, and is booked year round, with few vacancies, so we appreciate the feedback on the need to update the linens and we took care of that immediately. We gladly would have brought over new sheets right away, during this Guest's stay, but there was no mention of this issue until this written review. We did bring over additional fans at 9pm as soon as we received a call about the Guest not being able to turn on the ceiling fans. We also showed the Guest how to turn on all the ceiling fans and how to open the windows, which were all operational. During this particular week, we experienced record breaking heat in San Diego. 87 degrees a half block from the beach is extreme weather for Pacific Beach and La Jolla. We also offered to have the home re-cleaned, at no additional cost, but the Guests refused to accept the offer. Most owners and property managers really do want their Guests to have positive experiences, so it is helpful if Guests call immediately when there is an issue, so that there is an opportunity to correct the problem, rather than to wait until after the visit is over to write a bad review.

Stayed at Coastal Casita for Sprint break with our two young boys. House was perfect - they could go to sleep while adults could still enjoy the great deck. Location was quiet and peaceful. The hot tub and the grills were big hits for the week. Close to everything - all of the major parks, great restaurants in Pacific Beach and La Jolla (The Cottage for breakfast). Beach is steps away
Recommended for:Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children.
Meets all expectations!

We stayed in February, and it was a wonderful week. The house is small and comfortable, and has everything you need. The neighborhood is great, and you can walk to the beach, restaurants (The Fishery is great), coffee shops (we loved Java Jams), and you're a short drive from Ralph's for groceries. Your close to the Bird Rock shops, the Cove in La Jolla, and all the San Diego attractions. Our dogs loved the place, but we honestly could not tell any other dog had ever stayed there - it was so clean. A great place to stay.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children.

We loved the Coastal Casita, just a stroll to the beach for early morning walks with our dogs on the beach and sunset walks too! We enjoyed breakfast at KONO's and bike rides on Ocean front walk all the way to the Jetty, six miles of biking without a car in site, just the ocean and great people watching too! The huge yard and deck and jacuzzi were perfect for barbeques with the family. This home is a secluded sanctuary, peaceful and quiet on a cul de sac, yet so close to the beach and town. We'll be back!
