Lobster Mini Season Available Sombrero Beach, Private Pool, Fisherman'Sdock

Anyone can rent you their house, I provide a tropical resort with concierge services. This house has it all – a 7 min walk to Sombrero Beach, hot tub, heated private pool, ocean views, a 'fisherman's' dock, high speed wireless Internet, cut flowers, chocolates on your pillows, etc., etc.
Marathon recently spent $5M renovating Sombrero Beach - it's one of the best beaches in the Keys. Beach chairs, towels, umbrella, cooler, sand toys, and snorkel equipment are all provided. The 12' X 28' pool is on the west side, so it gets full sunshine for sun bathing in your Speedo (you'll have a lot of privacy in our back yard). In the winter we can heat the pool to 85 degrees. At night the pool light will change colors.
The fisherman's dock has a large fish cutting station, electric, plumbing, sink, lights for when you return in the dark, a hose for your boat and one at the fish cutting station, and rocket launchers on the pilings to place your rods so they don't get stepped on. Use the freezer out back for your bait, ice, and your catch. And what's the worst part about fishing in the summer? Answer: when you catch a load of fish and you have to clean them in the scorching sun when you return. Well, I've taken care of that. I have let the mangroves grow up and over the fish cutting station to block the sun as you clean your catch. There's even a shower to cool you off when you come back (see photo).
We are on the ocean side, so you'll have quick ocean access to some of the best fishing in the world.
Underwater lights have been installed in the canal - you'll be mesmerized by the fish while you sit on the park bench at night. Let the children cast a line and Voila - they caught a fish in the Keys - something they will always remember. Mangrove snapper, tarpon, angel fish, sting rays, and nurse sharks have all been caught off of my dock. A dozen tarpon have recently been spotted lurking in the shadows (see photo). Rods and reels are provided.
Spectacular sunrises over the Atlantic are available off of the master bedroom balcony. You will sleep like a baby in our beds, as they all have have 600 thread count sheets. All 3 bedrooms have a tropical theme decor.
High speed wirelss Internet, with coverage out to the pool will let you send your pics to everyone before you leave Paradise. Take a picture of Iggy the iguana out sunning himself at the pool (see pic). Family room TV has a 40' plasma TV - 2 additional color TVs are in the bedrooms (40' color in master bedroom).
The house sits on an unusually large lot, large enough to fit two houses. It sits way back from the street, ensuring your privacy (see photo). A picnic table and Weber gas grill along with the hot tub are on the deck out back. We also provide an extra tank of propane gas, just in case you run out when you're cooking that special dinner. And most of all, please remember the Rule that my daughter Caitlin made up when she was visiting with her friends from college during semester break - What goes on in the hot tub, STAYS in the hot tub!
Our house is fully furnished with everything you’d expect – towels, linens, microwave, toaster, etc…..and yes, there’s a blender. We also go the extra mile and provide the miscellaneous household products such as laundry detergent, dish soaps, paper towels, etc. No need to hassle with these upon your arrival.
To assist in making your stay more enjoyable, we will also provide a list of restaurants, including those off the beaten path that only the locals can find. I highlight those restaurants that we frequent when we are down there. When you arrive you'll have chocolates on your pillows and fresh cut flowers on your table.
This house has it all!

Our family loved this home. We could walk in and not have to go to the store first, because the owner has soap, toilet paper, plus a lot of other essentials there waiting for you. The pool and hot tub were a big hit with the grandkids and there were pool toys as well as beach toys there for their use. The location is awesome since it's a short walk to Sombrero Beach and the Publix grocery store is a short drive. The owner also gives you restaurant reviews as well as lots of ideas of things to do in the Keys. We loved our 2 weeks there and highly recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Anybody can rent you their house, I provide a tropical resort with as many amenities as possible, along with top notch concierge service. My goal is to maximize your vacation experience, not just provide you a place to sleep. That's why I provide: - a backyard that has been described by my guests as a resort - first of all, I planted over 50 tropical plants and trees in the yard to ensure your privacy - I installed an in-ground pool that can be heated (it also has lights that turn colors at night), the hot tub is on the deck out back and when I rebuilt the dock, I kept fisherman (it has everything) and children (the underwater dock lights attract fish) in mind - I have even pruned the vegetation so that the fish cutting station is shaded during the day - all the paper, and soap products - everyone loves to wash their clothes at the end of their stay, so your suitcase will be filled with clean clothes when you get home - multiple spare propane tanks for the gas grill - think of it - the only time the gas runs out is when you're cooking - if this happens at my house, all you have to do is hook up one of the spare tanks and continue cooking - all the beach and pool paraphernalia - beach chairs, sand toys for the tots, coolers, umbrellas, etc are provided - check in, get the flip flops and head to the beach (walk there) - a list of local restaurants - I have owned the house since 2004 and I've eaten at just about every restaurant in Marathon - my restaurant guide is updated annually - I only include the restaurants that merit a return trip - I also highlight the 4 or 5 restaurants that are my family's favorite places to eat - many of my guests like a restaurant so much, they return there during their stay - lists of where to buy bait, rent kayaks, get a fishing license, etc.etc. I also provide a map of the canals, to use as your guide when you navigate the mangroves in your kayak (they will deliver to the house) - a way to save you money on your groceries - I digitally scan a lot of coupons into my Publix grocery store account - when you shop there, provide the house telephone number when you check out, and if you bought any of the items that I have scanned, you will automatically get the coupon discounts (now who else does that?) My goal is to maximize your vacation stay, not just rent you a house.

Although we have rented many homes (throughout the world), this was our first family vacation with our adult twin sons and our daughter-in-law. What a perfect spot! The home is as beautiful and comfortable as the photos. We spent many hours at the pool just enjoying each other. With two grocery stores nearby, it was convenient to grill and eat out on the deck and not get dressed for dinner out. (Do be sure to check out what is at the house before you go to the store. This is one of the best "stocked" homes we have rented.) With three fisherman in the group, the canal fishing station was popular. They appreciated running water at this location and comfortable seating while waiting for the bite. The owner is helpful and wonderful to work with. We took full advantage of his suggestions for eating out, rentals, etc. Yes, the Sunset Grill and Dockside get our votes, too. As a walker, I appreciated the quiet residential neighborhood, the bike/walking path and beautiful Sombrero Beach close by. No matter what the ages of the persons in your family or group, this is the perfect comfortable spot for rest and relaxation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is a great property for a family. Everything is super clean and as shown in the photos. Kitchen has lots of utensils, pots and pans and baking dishes. The pool was wonderful morning, afternoon and evening. We saw Iggy, the iguana, at the dock! Nice plantings for privacy all around the house and pool. Beds are comfortable and there are lots of towels. Stacked washer/dryer near the kitchen makes laundry easy. Ceiling fans in all the bedrooms, too. Owner is great to work with and very helpful with local recommendations. We used his descriptive restaurant list several times and also used his recommendations for snorkeling and kayaking - both memorable trips. The Sea Turtle Hospital and Dolphin Research Center are very nearby in Marathon - these are a must-see if you have children and the adults enjoyed them, too. Great lighted, paved walking/bike path just out the front door leads to the beach in one direction and the shopping area in the other. We cooked out at the beach one night in one of the many covered pavilions. House is in quiet, residential area. Don't miss the sunset at the beach or the fabulous night sky!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

My family had a memorable vacation at this property. The pictures are accurate. Owner provided good information about restaurants. Two grocery stores are very convenient. The property was clean, well maintained and equipped. Immediate necessities are provided along with fresh flowers on the table and mints on the pillow. There is an abundance of activity available on Marathon, the Dolphin Swim was a big hit with us but the pool was equally inviting. I highly recommend this property and hope to return some day.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of 8 stayed here the last week of January. This rental was perfect for us, and the owner was great to deal with. We thot it was the perfect distance from the beach and enjoyed the walk back and forth. We were even lucky enough to see dolphins at the beach! The pool was the activity of choice during our week at the rental. Some other things that will be great memories were catching a blue crab off the dock and a puffer fish and seeing an iguana taking a sun bath out by the pool. We enjoyed many games of pictionary in the evening and grilling on the deck. The pool was very private with a lot of greenery around it. The house was clean and was nicely furnished. We would absolutely recommend this rental!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Being a Dad of four grown children, I was very glad to see this review. This was a family of 8 - six children with the oldest about 10 years old (can you picture seeing this family walking to/from the beach?). I know those family vacations are very special times. Catching fish off the dock, swimming in the private pool, and walking to Sombrero Beach will be remembered for a long, long time.

Just spent another week in Paradise near Sombrero Beach at Neil's house. Everything was fantastic, better than he describes it. The backyard pool area was very private - with tropical plants on all sides. At night the kids bounced between the hot tub and the pool, with a little bit of fishing out at the dock - you could see the fish swimming in the canal below! Neil gave us a list of his favorite restaurants, all were excellent. We loved the Sunset Grill - kids swam in the pool, while we enjoyed ourselves at the Tiki hut. Sombrero Beach was great, a close walk, so we usually went there in the mornings, and stayed by the shaded pool in the afternoon. Overall it was a fun family vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
