Beachside House with Pool in Beautiful English Harbour
- Minimum stay:7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This house sprawls across the hillside above Galleon Beach. There are four separate and very private bedrooms each with its own shower room. There are two doubles that have their own private balconies that overlook the bay. The two twins open onto the decking around the pool. All bedrooms have A/C, ceiling fans and mosquito nets over the beds.
The kitchen has been refurbished in June 2012 (pictures soon). It has a fridge/freezer with ice maker and an 8 ring gas hob and gas oven. The kitchen opens onto the verandah where there is a large dining table. The kitchen also opens onto the garden at the rear so there is always a cool breeze blowing through the house. There is a comfortable sitting room.
A large garden leads down to the beach. On the beach is a private area owned by the house with its own umbrella for shade. There are beach chairs available free of charge. There is a private pool with a large area of decking and sun beds. There is a laundry room with washing machine.

If you want an away from it all holiday with easy access to all that is happening in English Harbour this really is the place to be! We were a little worried that going out of season, we wouldn't have had things to do. We shouldn't have worried as not only was there still plenty to do, there were no crowds to spoil it all. The house is literally a hop, skip and jump to the most beautiful quiet beach. We loved Miriam the Housekeeper, and she pointed us to some great places to eat. The kitchen was a little tired, but I understand that it was to be replaced immediately after our visit. The whole Island is easily accessible from this base, and I would definitely return to Byam House if back in AntiguaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Byam House is surrounded by lush tropical plants which affords it great privacy whilst at the same time being literally a stones throw from the most idyllic beach. The verandah that leads from the kitchen and sitting room overlooks the swimming pool, the bay and up to one side Shirley Heights. Breakfasts on the verandah are bliss. We enjoyed it so much that we tended to eat in most of the time! The pool is perfect for cooling off & is surrounded by a beautiful decked area. The bedrooms all look out towards the bay, the two on the upper level having their own balconies and superior views, the master bedroom in particular is spacious and comfortable. Miriam the housekeep is an absolute gem as well as a fountain of knowledge about local people and produce. We are greatly looking forward to returning one day, to enjoy the early morning walks up to Shirley Heights, to pick our own pawpaw and tamarinds and to swim in the safest of bays.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

A really great location and very comfortable home, Miriam who looked after the house was excellent and so helpfull, a gem. Although so close to the beach, the house pool was perfect for lazy holiday swims.Nelsons dockyard very close and so interesting Whether eating at home or out it was good. We have found out that Rum Punches vary in taste so had to continue trying them all! The when, maybe we should have researched if May was the best month, as low season, so quite a lot of places shut. But this didn't spoil our stay. Disappointment that the Restaurant at Galleon Beach was closed. Everyone we chatted to were friendly and helpfull.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.

A perfect holiday destination for a large family or group. Set just above a crescent of sandy beach the outlook is idyllic - blue sky , blue sea, and tropical plants. The house is so arranged to give everyone privacy and space without feeling antisocial or isolated. The house is beautifully appointed with a large covered verandah for shady relaxation and dining, while the pool offers large decks for sunbathing. The beach which is no more than two minutes away provides perfect and safe swimming. And in the vicinity a short water taxi ride away is the bustle and gentility of English Harbour and Nelson's dockyard with cafes, shops and waterside restaurants - and some stunning yachts. And for those that party (and even those that don't because it is worth a visit for the music and views) Shirley Height on a Sunday evening is to be recommended I cannot think of a location which offers more and I would strongly recommend it.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is a wonderful place where I've now stayed twice. The setting is perfect with a sandy and secluded beach only a few minutes walk away. The view looks across a small bay surrounded by wooded hills with yachts lapping at their moorings. Swimming in the sea is excellent (and safe) and the pool is refreshing for rinsing off the salt. The rooms are airy and the verandah is perfect for lazy meals and sitting outside on warm Caribbean evenings. There are a couple of good restaurants on the edge of the beach or you can take a short ride in a water taxi to the historic and atmospheric Nelson's dockyard. I would highly recommend a stay here.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
