This is not a house, but a vacation. Enjoy 22 private acres with beach waterfront and spectacular views. This location is convenient for exploring both the upper and lower keys.
The breezy, open, wooden, post and beam house features a 19 foot x 44 foot great room with glass sliding doors on all sides, and a 22 foot high cathedral ceiling. This room includes a complete kitchen and dining and living areas. At each end of the living area, there are two master bedrooms in their own separate buildings. Each has a large bath and dressing area, a queen-size bed, a sitting area, and balcony, and an upper loft with twin beds.
There is also a third bedroom with two twin beds and a bathroom. The 22 acres afford total privacy. The property is surrounded by hundreds of acres of open space both adjacent to the property and on the next keys across the cove. 1500 feet of natural shoreline curve around two sides of the house. Half of the home's view is out over the open gulf and half of the view is into a natural deep water cove with only this house on it's shoreline. There is a private sandy beach.
In the cove, there is a pier with a swim platform on which to keep a boat and from which to swim and snorkel. Behind the house is a private stone saltwater quarry for swimming. It is 50 yards wide by 200 yards long, by 10 feet deep. The house includes kayaks for exploring the adjacent shoreline. All sizes of outboard motorboats are available from rental shops nearby. There is a caretaker living on the property in case you have any problems. The beautiful location on the uninhabited cove makes this a delightful place for part of a family to stay while the rest fish, dive, or sightsee. Each evening every room faces a spectacular sunset.
Although the house has 10 beds, we limit the occupancy to six adults and children in the lofts.
Egret Cove is designed not to have air conditioning. It depends on screens, ceiling fans, and the prevailing breeze. This can be a matter of opinion in the summer. We do not recommend it for more than 4 or mabe 6 outdoors type people in the summer.
