We stay a month each year and like to have more accomodations than what you might get in a typical hotel room. The pool area is green and lovely, the lobby is spectaclar and recently refurbished, there is a nice breakfast room and a full buffet breakfast costs only $10, there is free parking on the street around the corner, and a block away, the bus goes everywhere and is very inexpensive, and we only rent a car on days when we want to drive around the island, otherwise everything is within walking distance. It is a lovely walk through the park to the beach, the US Army maintains the park and there are no homeless in De Russy Park, which we liked a lot. Overall we had a lovely time and enjoyed every minute, also the expensive Trump hotel is very close and we would go there for dinner and look out over the water at sunset; the Beachwalk area is also very close and has good shops and restaurants, and stores like Gucci and Prada are very nearby.

We rented a room on the 19th floor, the owner showed us how to get free WIFI in the room, although he said it was not always available for free; there is free WIFI in the lobby, although you will need to get the password from the front desk, the free WIFI in the lobby is always there. You may also get pay-as-you-go WIFI in the room. There is also a room with a computer you can use, and a printer, etc. The owner told us that WIFI in Hawaii is not as fast and not as good as WIFI on the mainland, because Hawaii is in the middle of the ocean and the connections are not as good as what you might be used to on the mainland. We had a wonderful time as the beds were nice, the pool area serine, and there was minimal traffic noise. The hotel is always painting and replacing things, it is just one of the things in the tropics that is necessary if you want to stay in a nice place. We come every year to this hotel. It is also full of airline pilots; I guess those guys know where the good deals are.

The kitchen has; electric frying pan, electric wok, large electric pot, electric rice cooker, oven, microwave, plates, utensils, glasses, etc., etc. It has an oven, microwave, refrigerator with freezer. It is a large kitchenette, not a full sized kitchen. There are photos of the kitchen on the owners webiste, which also has an automatic booking system.

The bed and sofa were comfortable, bathroom nicely remodeled. Kitchen adequate for cooking simple meals. The pool was too cold to swim in, but the garden area was very nice. Great location, close to beach, food and shopping.
Owner response:***** Owners Response ***** None of the swimming pools in Waikiki are heated. The nice thing about the pool at the Royal Garden condo hotel, is that it is not filled up with hundreds of screaming children, which, is a problem with many of the pools in Waikiki, instead, this pool is very quiet and peaceful which is a big benefit that many people do not consider prior to coming to Waikiki. The room was fairly decent. The bed was comfortable and the linens clean. There were some dusty areas in the room that had not been cleaned in awhile, but overall the unit was fairly clean. The unit is advertised as having a fully equipped kitchen, but things such as a sharp knife and dish cloths and wash cloths were not available. In my travel experiences, these things were usually included. Was disappointed that there was no hotplate (emails to the owner had assured us there was one) but we made do with what was there. The sink in the kitchen was very small (about 10 inches square) which made it very difficult to wash up the huge wok and other electric pots, and the faucet attachment on the sink was very wobbly and loose. The lanai is very narrow (about 2 feet) so you could not really sit on it but the sliding window opened wide enough so that you could enjoy the view and noise while dining. Being on one of the higher floors I thought that the traffic noise would not be too bad, but with 2 main streets on either side of the hotel, it was as loud as being on street level. The free WIFI was handy, but it was spotty. Some days a connection could not be made. I thought that possibly it was my laptop, but I could see that other users were also having connection problems. The staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful, but there was not much they could do about it. It was, none the less, a wonderful stay in paradise! The renos at the hotel will make it a top notch hotel, but I don't think I would pay more to stay in this unit.
Owner response:***** Owner Response ***** Extra kitchen towels are kept in the bathroom cupboard. There are 3 types of WI-FI, in the room for free (does not always work), free in the lobby (always works), pay-as-you-go WIFI in the room (always works). The kitchen has; electric frying pan, electric wok, large electric pot, electric rice cooker, oven, microwave, plates, etc. A photo of the kitchen is shown above. We provide you with a vacuum cleaner, extra cleaning is available upon request. This room is substantially quieter than most Waikiki rooms because there is no roadway directly beneath the windows. The outside lanai runs the entire lenght of the unit, about 30 feet long, and has 2 chairs for outside seating. We prvide serrated knives for safety. Warmest regards, the team at ParadiseWithAView.

There is free WIFI in the lobby, you get the code from the front desk; and we were able to get free WIFI in the room itself although the owner said the in-room free WIFI does not always work; it has worked for us the last 3 years just fine, and the lobby free WIFI always works. There is also pay WIFI, with a monthly rate, in the room, but we never had to use it. The beds have Dux memory foam pads which are very comfortable, but the fold out couches do not have memory foam matresses; it is not much a problem really. The people who work the online booking system are very consciencious, helpful, and quick with their responses. The booking is all done in advance of out stay, and we are emailed a code number which opens the door. WE REALLY LIKED the key code system, the number is accurate to the minute, so the people who checked out before us cannot get back in once it is our time to be in the condo which made me feel really secure. There is also a safe in the condo. The hotel was bought by Wynndham, so everything is very fancy and professionally managed. The staff are really nice and always smile and wave when we come and go; and, they know our names, just like a 5 star hotel. We discovered that it is nice to be a few blocks back from the beach because it is so much more quiet and we can leave the doors open and get some fresh air. We also found the prices to be much, much lower, than comparible hotel rooms; this room is larger and much more comfortable than a hotel room, and cheaper. ON THE DOWNSIDE, it is necessary to close the sliding glass door sometimes when it rains, as, if we leave them open, rain sometimes, comes into the room and gets the carpets wet. Overall, we could not be happier. The owner told us that prices may be going up once the economy recovers. The kitchen is well equipped, overall; there is a decent oven, microwave, plates, pots pans, glasses, utensils etc. The bathroom is really nice, all marble with a real, useable, bath tub. We will be back.
Owner response:Hi, John; thank you for the information; we try our best, and keep prices very low. After you left we put in a new electric skillet, and new electic cooking pot, and a new electric wok. We no longer use hot plates, and, think the electric skillets, pots and woks, are easier to use. We also put in extra extension cords, and, electrical plugs, as, people seem to have a lot of computers and iPhones, etc. that need plugs. We also put in new DuxBed memory foam matress pads, and changed all the rugs. And, we bought all new towels and linens, so it looks very nice. Some of the floors are being renovated, and the elevators are scraped up a bit, the remodel should be over in early spring of 2011; we lowered prices, at lot, during the remodel period only. Thank you, ParadiseWithAView

There is free WIFI in the lobby and sometimes free WIFI in the room; but the managers said the free in room WIFI is not always available; but the free lobby WIFI is always available. There is also free parking just around the corner. Me and my girlfriend rented this condo for our trip-of-a-lifetime to Waikiki. We wanted to relax and let our hair down a bit. The hotel was nicer than we expected. Some of our friends paid through the nose to stay at the Hilton Hawiian Village, but we actually liked the Royal Garden better. The nice things about this hotel is the quiet and peacefullness, and, the fact that it is near De Russy Park Beach, this is a very nice park that is controlled by the Army, and their are no bums or homeless people in this park, or near this hotel. We really enjoyed the views and the friday night fireworks are spectacular, you can see them directly from the room. We found it to be very clean, they put rugs on top of the white carpet which are changed frequently, and the beds have pillow tops so they are very soft. We also liked the flat screen TV and the really loud stereo system, fortunately this is a concrete building so noise is not a problem. There are stores nearby for food and misc, supplies, etc. We plan to return here someday soon, and, I dream about it every night.

We had a great 2 week stay . The cost was very reasonable, the location ideal, and hotel faclilties very good. Staff were friendly, helpful (and underworked...the hotel must have had very low occupancy, but there were extensive renovations taking place on many floors). The views were awesome, and the unit was generally well equipped and comfortable. While the listing description was generally correct, there were some minor annoyances...the description said there was a cooking hotplate...there wasn't, there was nothing to drink coffee from and we had to buy mugs which we left behind..there was no teatowel...these are minor annoyances and could be easily remedied. Strangely the listing photos showed a keyboard in the unit....it wasn't there and that was of no consequence, but it should be removed from the pictures. The property was clean and well maintained except for many marks on the carpet near the kitchen bench and entry doorway. The hotel pool area was lovely, and we enjoyed many afternoons there. The free wifi in the foyer was much appreciated also. The bookit website was amazing, extremely informative and very responsive to our questions. Hiring a unit this way is much more cumbersome than booking a hotel room...rental agreements need signing and scanning, cheques need to be sent with long delay in receipt and acknowlegement, and you need to ensure the door code is sent to you before you leave home. nevertheless it was worth the trouble for the excellent value received. The beach , buses and shops are all close and Honolulu is a wonderful place for us retired new Zealanders to have stayed for a fortnight. Yes, we would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative, proveded they were happy with the cumbersome booking/payment procedure.

The view was incredible, just far enough away from Kalakaua Ave to have quiet nights but close enough to be accessible to everything. The hotel portion of the building was immaculate, security, valet and all personnel were friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to return to this unit and would recommend it highly to anyone. One caveat, don't expect a full size lanai, it is tiny but the glass wall gave a great view of the ocean, ala-wai canal and the hills, great morning and evening views!! A very satisfied Georgia Traveler
Owner response:Thank you for the nice review, the lanai runs the entire length of the condo, and is very wide, it is primarily use for getting some fresh air outside, from time to time. Warm regards, Lee

We spend every January at the Royal Garden. Before booking my holiday on the beautiful islands of Hawaii I did hours of research and my expectations of the Royal Garden were high. However, I honestly never believed that it would be possible for those expectations to be exceeded! Everything, from the point of leaving the airport was arranged for us, from the taxi picking us up from the airport to maps, tips and general information, ensuring that we get the very most from our holiday. On arrival, which was on a quite leafy green street...such peace and tranquility! We passed approximately half a dozen beautiful parks on our right and arrived at the Royal Garden, tired from our journey. After a peaceful and comfortable nights sleep thanks to beautifully clean and comfortable beds, we woke early, eager to get to the beach and bar run by the ever friendly locals and literaly five minutes walk from our room. We rarely visited any other beach, (why bother when we had what I believe to be the very best on our doorstep!) My most treasured memories of our stay was, spending early evenings dining on the terrace as the sun went down, waking in the morning feeling more rested than i had felt for a very long time, the site of birds gathering nectar from the lush garden plants, buying fantastic local food sold at the roadside, playing games with the locals and of course the beautiful beaches. My stay at the Royal Garden will remain for me one of my most treasured memories.

A wonderful setting for a family holiday, and an excellent base for Oahu. The condo was immaculate with every amenity. We spent many afternoons on the comfortable couch taking in the spectacular views. This was not our first trip to Waikiki and before we stayed in rooms that were dark and noisy, so this condo was a welcome change and much quieter than being near a busy street. We also like the De Russy Park beach area where this condo is located. It is nice to be mid point between the Hilton Hawaiian Village, and the Pink Palace.

A most beautiful condo apartment for a truly memorable Hawaiian vacation. Facilities are of absolutely the highest quality. A terrific high rise location in a tranquil setting with stunning views and only a few steps away from the vitality, and excitement of Waikiki Beach. I really liked the on line booking system tht gives immediate availability and prices.

A beautiful boutique condo hotel with stunning views. The location is terific. Everything we needed was right at our disposal. The friendly staff was a big hit. We were delighed with the elegant bar, and reception areas that were a lot of fun for us. The pool area was very quiet and relaxing, much nicer than some of the hotels with 1,000 screaming kids running all around. This was the first time I rented a condo, and was a little aprehensive, but once I saw the room we were convinced we did the right thing. We looked at the hotel rooms, and they were not as nice as this condo. I love the large sliding glass doors with the pleasurable views. My dream is to be able to buy a condo here, it is very peaceful and quiet tranquil retreat, where we can enjoy the beauty of nature, the views are gorgeous. Perfect for a family vacation. We will definately return. Everything was very well organized, tastefully decorated. Actually, it was nicer than our house at home. Ryan Manning

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Garden very much. The boutique apartment is situated very close to the wonderful beaches and the luxurious shops in the fancy sections of Waikiki. The two double beds, and the double couch sofa bed were excellent for our family. The outside facilities were pleasant, and provided excellent opportunity for poolside relaxing in the afternoons. Shops are at a very convenient distance. The quiet, central air conditioning provided us with cool air, when the weather was hot. Families who would wish to stay in Waikiki are certain to find an appropriate accommodation here.
