North Berwick is a delightful seaside town often referred to as the 'biarritz of the north' with something for everyone. The apartment is located in the old granary at the small harbour with uninterrupted views over the sea to the island of fidra and beyond. A stunning location it is possible to look out of the window onto the sailing boats as the water laps onto the base of the building.
The a ward winning scottish seabird centre is within 100 metres of the front door. Situated within the seabird centre is an educational centre,restaurant and gift shop. From here you can arrange boat trips to view the gannets and puffins on the bass rock and the other islands.
However if you are looking for something other than stunning beaches and sailing , there are arguably some of the best links golf courses within 10 minutes of the apartment including Muirfield which will host the 2013 open golf championships situated in nearby Gullane.
North Berwick has a vibrant high street with numerous cafes and restaurants catering for every taste whether it be traditional fish and chips, fresh North Berwick lobster, or Thai, Italian, Chinese or Indian. If you are looking for that special meal chez roux at nearby Greywalls was awarded restaurant of the year 2011.
Central Edinburgh is only a 40 minute car journey from North Berwick, or if you prefer to leave the car behind, trains leave every hour from the nearby station and run straight into the centre of the city( trains leave every hour from north berwick station). A visit to Edinburgh is highly recommended especially a visit to the Edinburgh festival. However if you prefer not to leave North Berwick, festival by the sea comes to you during August and is situated 150 meters from the apartment giving you the luxury of just wandering across to the venue.
An exciting new venture situated just outside Dunbar, 14km away, is to be up and running by summer 2012. Foxlake adventures aims to provide a wakeboarding lake with plans for mountain biking at a later date.

About the owner: We are a farming family from the Scottish Borders comprising Graham,Lesley,Avril,Claire,Dizzy,Struan and not forgetting Dave the dog our 2 year old Collie cross Poodle!.We are livestock farmers and have both cattle and sheep so the entire family has to rally round.
Why the Owner Chose North Berwick: We chose this property as I have spent every summer in North Berwick over the last 54 years and regard it as a second home. Graham and I were looking for somewhere to eventually retire to and were extremely lucky when this property came up 2 years ago. After a lot of work we completed the modernisation in the spring of 2011

Everyone who visits heads straight to the windows where the views are truly magnificent. At high tide it is almost like being in a boat looking down into the ocean and the uninterupted view of the famed Fidra sunset is unrivalled. There is a different picture from each window in the property. Almost secondary is the fact that the town is merely metres away but the only sounds heard at night are the waves.
