We always travel with two 6-year-old Shih-Tzu sisters. Most hotels/houses do not allow us to leave pets unattended (we can't go out to eat even), so we look for a vacation rental home. I can say the Casita was the best of everything we have experienced - great views, quiet and away from everything, and the house was beautiful and everything we needed was provided, we especially appreciated the water. I teach baking so I am always interested in baking adjustment at a higher level, I packed up ingredients to make lemon chiffon cake but when I got there, I realized that I forgot to pack my well-used chiffon cake pan. I was speechless when I actually found the cake pan at Casita! I was so happy. My husband just loved the grill. I was looking forward to getting in to jacquzzi and look up the stars, but we had rains and strong winds (blew the covers of grill and jacquizzi away) for both nights, but we were able to enjoy in the last morning before we left. Only disappointment was that we were not able to meet Dakota which we were looking forward to. Thank you for the great vacation. We look forward to going back there soon.

I can only reiterate what every other review has already said. The owners are wonderful hosts, the house is well-stocked with everything you would need to settle in for a stay, and....the views. Good grief, the views. My husband started good-naturedly laughing at me because he would go into the house and come back out to the hot tub and I would be crying, AGAIN. I had no idea where I was going when we left for the airport and it was a secret until we pulled up to the house. The further we drove into the middle of nowhere the more exciting it was and when we finally pulled up to the house I was speechless (not normal for me). We cooked all of our meals there after a stop at Whole Foods in SF. The nights were cool enough for a fire in the fireplace. We spent one day at Bandolier Natl. Monument and it was another highlight. We've been back home for nearly a week and are already buttering up grandparents to babysit again so we can go back. We've traveled from Fiji to Europe and this trip was one of my favorites. I don't remember ever hearing silence as perfect as the quiet of this place. I'm thankful for Scott and Glynn being generous enough to share it.
Owner response:And we look forward to seeing you again later this year! Scott and Glynn

The casita was just as described in the listing--comfortable, clean, and perfect for a quiet long weekend. We enjoyed sight-seeing (Scott and Glynn have a notebook full of maps and brochures for planning day trips), reading while sitting in the shade on the patios, and soaking in the hot tub under the stars. If you happen to be an outdoor cook, you will love the grill! This is one of the best guest homes we have rented--thanks!

a nice home on a mesa near perdernal. breathtaking views in every direction of the redrocks, lake, and mesas that make abiquiu very, very special. the house is nice, very clean, and the radiantly heated floors are quite luxurious. i would recommend bringing your own water, as the well water provided to drink has a very strong mineral flavor. otherwise relax, enjoy, and make sure to check out the stars and hiking!!!!
Owner response:Our last reviewer mentioned that the drinking water has a mineral flavor. We drink bottled water in Santa Fe, where we live, because of the chlorine taste here in the city, but we never take bottled water to Abiquiu. It tastes fine to us and to our guests, many who return each year. The drinking/cooking water we provide is not from our own well. We purchase it from a well owner who provides the best water in the county to many folks who live in Abiquiu. Glynn & Scott, owners of Abiquiu Lake Casita

We were overwhelmed by the Casita. We let Scott and Glynn know we were planning to get married while we were out there and they were so helpful in helping us make arrangements. We arrived at the Casita just before sunset. Scott and Glynn had left us a bottle of Champagne and a nice card on the table for us. The views were amazing from the mesa in all directions. The casita itself was clean expertly decorated and made the perfect southwest setting for our wedding. We exchanged vows in front of the fireplace on Feb. 29th. Our Minister Jaye was great and our witness (the neighbors) Beth & Charlotte made it feel like home, taking pictures and video taping the event. We couldn't think of a better place to start our life together. There is so much to do around the area, from the spa at Ojo Caliente, Ghost Ranch, Bandelier National Monument, to Chaco Canyon. We have fallen in love with the area. I give the area the highest recommendation, and can't think of a better place to stay that the Abiquiu Casita. We will be back soon.

Being return guests we knew what to expect, but still when you wake up that first morning it takes your breath away-it is so beautiful. Scott and Glynn have paid such attention to detail that there is nothing missing! The spa was a heavenly oasis during the cold evenings. We watched the stars cross the sky from the spa or one of the portales every night it was clear. Dakota (the BIG dog) was a welcomed guest, although I think he thinks he lives there and we were visiting him. Thank you for the advanced warning about his packrat habit. He only made away with two of my items, although he tried to snag other items! He was a real joy and we looked forward to his daily visits. The casita was clean and inviting. We loved the heated floors. The bed is so comfortable I hated to get up in the morning. We slept like babies. We even watched the stars one night while laying in bed. It is a perfect place for viewing sunrises and sunsets! I suggest future guests visit the Monastery (Christ in the desert). The drive to the monastery is wonderful. You can get about 2/3 of the way by car, but really should have 4WD to make it the entire way. Also be sure to eat at El Paragua in Espanola. We ate there 3 times this trip! But don't trust a GPS to get you there! It will lead you in the wrong direction. They are trying to straighten that out! You can stop and ask almost anyone and they can get you there. The Abiquiu Inn had a wonderful breakfast. We cooked at home on several nights and found everything we needed to make wonderful meals. We had the best time just being together and hanging out! Thank you for allowing us the use of your beautiful casita. We will be returning next year for sure.
Owner response:Our yearly returning guests such as this responder help us to be sure we have everything one can think of, especially for those who love to cook or simply "hang out" and enjoy the 360 degree views. Not just 360--I forgot to include the millions of stars overhead, which she describes so well here, and the interesting rocks beneath your feet. Glynn and Scott

Our recent 6 night stay at the casita was just what the doctor ordered. Total relaxation. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The views are fantastic, the isolation is to be envied and the casita had everything we could ask for, from a cozy Kiva fireplace to an inviting hot tub. Might I add that the king sized bed was like sleeping on a cloud, so soft and nice with a full compliment of fluffy pillows. The stars at night were so amazingly bright, all the way down to the horizon and you could look directly out the bedroom window for a great view of the Big Dipper. I would recommend that one bring a telescope, as the place is ideal for star viewing with a high desert elevation and little humidity. We cannot wait to return.

Seriously, who gets views like this, ever? Look in any one direction, and you'll feel blessed; take in the whole 360 and it's almost embarrassing to think you're actually experiencing it all from one spot. Giddy, that's how we felt. Not to mention, the casita is wonderfully cozy and meticulously appointed. We hope to be back soon for more of the above plus daily visits by friendly Dakota from the next house over.
Owner response:For those not yet "in the know," Dakota is a young, male, funny standard white poodle who lives on the other side of the mesa. But here is how one guest characterized him: "My only disappointment has been not seeing coyotes, and there is no way you will convince me that that white dufus dog is an albino coyote!" Serene and beautiful views 360 degrees, on top of a lovely mesa away from busy highways and roads. Very comfy and spacious living room/dining room/kitchen, very well appointed with open plan. Bedroom is tucked away with a very comfortable king bed with nice linens. The bathroom has a spacious shower and lavatory countertop w/ ample storage. A full sized washer&dryer is tucked away in the bathroom. Two patios w/ comfortable seating and tables affording views of the Pedernal and Abiquiu Lake. The DVD collection of movies is considerable. We cooked quite a bit because we did not want to leave the beauty, although we found on a number of occasions The Abiquiu Inn Restaurant quite good. We would definitely stay here again. There are a number of hikes close-by. The hosts are attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The interior decorations of art, artifacts and weavings are quite nice and tastefully utilized in the spaces. The place was hard to leave for all of the above reasons.

We stayed last year in September at this casita and the day we got home, I immediately booked an entire week for this year. We normally have very busy summers so one thing I kept thinking about all summer was getting to New Mexico and staying at this beautiful property to take in the mountain air, the amazing everchanging landscape, and the peace. Driving up the long dirt road, I could tell that my friend was getting a little nervous when he asked if the place had indoor plumbing. I smiled and let him walk in the door. He looked at the views out every window and then the inside of the casita and just said, "Wow!" Scott and Glynn have done an amazing job of providing all the comforts of home and more. The bed is super comfortable, the kitchen has everything you could want, living room cozy and comfortable, fireplace, two outdoor patios (front and back) tables/grill/hot tub under the sun or moon. All of it---just perfect! I'm booking my week for next year. :) Thank YOU!

When we arrived to the casita we were overwhelmed with how well put together it was. Everything you could possibly think of that you may need during your stay was there. They had layed out a ton of information of things to do and the information they gave us for places to eat was so helpful. Me and my wife couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. It was very romantic and quiet everyday we were there and we were overwelmed with the sights that we encountered during our stay. I would have to say the best thing about the stay was the fact we were in no man's land and completely surrounded by mountains. I cannot think of one thing more that we would have wanted during our stay that we didn't already recieved. Thanks for the great times.

My husband and I spent two nights at the casita. It was our 12 year anniversary of our wedding at Plaza Blanca - Dar Al Islam. Everything was WONDERFUL! The view, the amenities, the hot tub! I think next time we will take paints and canvas. Also, the Pedernal was calling but with limited time, we will hike it next time. Thank you Scott for accommodating us on short notice. You made our dream weekend a reality!

The casita sits on a mesa overlooking magnificent red cliffs and blue lake on one side and overlooked by majestic Padernal mountain on the other. Wondering which of the great patios should be used to relax and read a book or take in the scenery was as stressed as it got for the whole week we were there. If possible, try and take the drive to the Christ in the Desert Bendictine Monastery...whether you are spiriritual or not, it's well worth the time. The casita is very well appointed....everything you could possibly need is there. The owners have obviously chosen everything for the casita with great care and it shows. We were delighted with the place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a haven of peace, quiet and tranquility.

I never fully understood what Georgia O’Keefe meant when she wrote "It's my private mountain, it belongs to me. God told me that if I painted it enough, I could have it." Until now. After gazing out at Pedernal Mountain every morning and every evening from one of the porches of the casita I now understand the power, the peace and the serenity it holds. From the moment we arrived at the casita we realized we were under its spell. It is difficult to find words to describe the beauty on top of that mesa. It is so overwhelming and ever-changing. Each view cannot be compared to the next. It is simply impossible. The casita sits in the middle of all this wonder and it holds up to its surroundings. It is both elemental and elegant. The décor is beautiful and true to New Mexican style and the casita had everything we could possibly need to make our stay nothing short of perfect. The bed and pillows were beyond comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped and then some. There was a nice library of music, DVD’s and plenty of books about the area. We tried our best to do most of the hikes Scott and Glynn recommend in their information book and managed most of their local restaurant ideas. The casita even comes complete with a neighboring dog that will steal your heart as well as anything else you leave unattended. In my case, it was a left sneaker. The day we left, I left the right one in the wood pile in case he wanted the pair. We will definitely be back to this little piece of heaven as soon as we can. In the meantime, we will sit quietly and remember our private mountain.

This place was truly amazing. It felt so homely and cozy - really intimate place. A great retreat from all the hustle and bustle of a city. Scott whose place it was, was a real star. Extremely friendly and helpful. After filling the hot tub, made a point of how we should check out the stars later...which we did with an ice cold beer. PERFECT. Can't say enough great things about this place. Highly recommended. DVD collection, great music, dreamy open fire - we want to go back now! :)

Soulful... We long to go back--and it's only been 3 weeks since we were there to celebrate our anniversary. Is it having time together? Is it having time off from work? Or is this place just magical...The views,.. the casita charm.. the kiva...radiant floor heat....the views from patios/bedroom...all wonderful and beautiful. My favorite time was the am we were scheduled to leave, and I just had to fit in 1 more hot tub. So getting up before sun up, I quickly climbed in the hot tub. First the sky turned red, and then the reservoir and red cliffs had the morning sun bounce off previously unseen rock formations. PS...my husband loved it too. Thanks for a beautiful stay.

What an amazing adventure! We were looking for a great place to stay over MLK weekend. Somehow there was miscommunication between the husband and myself, and when Friday came along, we had NOWHERE to go!!! We searched and searched and came across our perfect destination; Scott and Glynn's casita a.k.a., our palace!!! We called Scott and we were at the casita Friday night; enjoying the stars, hot tub, and the amazing views. They have everything you could possibly want there. The entire house is decorated beautifully. The kitchen has great pots, pans, utensils, spices, EVERYTHING. The bathroom is even relaxing!!! They have a great music collection of some wonderful, relaxing music. The kiva fireplace is killer! My 5 year old son was quite amazed with everything... especially the hot tub and... you guys had LIFE: INDIANA JONES!!! He loves Indiana Jones, and that just made his day! Great fun for all!!! We took a 5 and 1/2 hour hike on Saturday (I'm still sore!!!) and that was great. The boys found neat rocks and bones, and the dogs just went crazy!!! They were all very happy to be out of the city. My husband and myself also enjoyed every second of the quiet nights, the amazing views, the wind whistling, the blankets on top of blankets star gazing, the hot tub, cooking and being able to see such greatness out the window, the extremely cozy bed... EVERYTHING!!! Thank you so much Scott and Glynn for this wonder... We will be back... actually, the first thing we did when we got home was looked for available openings for the spring/ summer!!! We loved it, and can't thank you enough for your casita of perfection...

My husband and I have travelled to Northen New Mexico numerous times, but staying at the casita opened up an entirely different New Mexico for us. This place is amazing. We loved the seclusion, the quiet, the opportunity to explore, the stars, the views ... I coulld go on and on. The casita is immaculate and incredibly cozy. I did not want to leave. Scott and Glyn made our Christmas memorable. They decorated the casita with some Christmas items and a small tree. When we got back home I told my husband my favorite part of the trip was deciding which window I wanted to look out. What a great decision to have to make.

My wife and I could tell you all about the obvious charms of this casita: 360 degree views, quiet, cool, starry nights, proximity to so many great places, but that is in the description anyway. What isn't detailed for you is the care Scott and Glynn have given it and their commitment to providing us with a vacation where we wanted for nothing. We arrived on July 6th and stayed until the morning of July 27th, three weeks! Upon arrival, the first thing out of our mouths was, "this looks even better than the photos." Really. We have done a lot of travel throughout the west and southwest and stayed in any number of hotels (from luxury to motor lodge), national parks, campgrounds and have even been guests at many people's homes. Many of these places have been wonderful but never have we had such a complete experience. The casita was immaculate and well stocked, every necessary household item was available. Paper products, soaps, shampoos, cleaning products, bottled water even spices, etc. were in abundance. We never ran out. All we did was buy food, nothing else. Nothing was broken or didn't work well. In three weeks the only snafu was the hot tub didn't work one day. We called Scott, he was there the next day and it was up and running again. Also, the place is beautifully furnished and decorated and the bed really is so comfortable. I guess what I'm saying here is while the casita and the surrounding scenery/terrain (mountains, canyons, desert, mesa, lake, red rocks) are incredible, what makes this place are Scott and Glynn's attention to detail and service. Now, about the title of my review. On the full day of our stay my wife shared with me she would be very sad to leave. My response, in true man form, was, "I know, Honey but we'll be back," or something like that. I didn't feel what she felt, or did I? She then went for one more run on the mesa and I stayed behind to start packing our stuff for our early morning departure the next day. It didn't take long. Just a few minutes into my manly, efficient packing routine I stopped, looked around the casita and said aloud to no one, "I don't want to leave here. I feel like I'll never be this happy again." Then the tears came. I just cried and felt the sadness of the loss of this wonderful place. The next morning, my wife and I drove away, both with tears in our eyes and immense gratitude in our hearts. This is a magical place. Believe me when I say, "we will be back." Scott and Glynn, Thank you.

This is a perfect place to get away for a weekend, a week or longer. It was actually hard to return to civilization! The photos are just a hint of what you will find in a beautifully furnished and well-outfitted home. The casita was immaculate. The furniture and bed very comfortable. You felt alone but very safe. Evenings under the stars in the hot tub were the perfect highlight to many perfect - adventure-filled days.. I would most certainly recommend this property to others. I would highly recommend numerous hikes close to the Casita. Our two dogs enjoyed the open space and the dog-friendly environment. rejuvenationCome to New Mexico and enjoy this place of beauty and rejuvenation! I am hesitant to let out such a great secret ; ) but will do so to show my appreciation to the owner's. Our family had a MAGNIFICENT time this past May (2010). The kids teased me saying that all week long I did nothing but gasp and exclaim "How beautiful!!" This immaculately kept casita is in the perfect location to travel around to hike, raft, make pilgrimages and site-see to your heart's content. We felt like explorers of days gone by as we climbed Chimney Rock and Pedernal in the beautiful weather (shorts and t-shirts), then drove to the top of the mountain behind Pedernal to run and laugh throwing snowballs, watch the deer and splash in the little lake created near the top by melting snow. We soaked in the peace and serenity of Abiquiu and the surrounding area daily, but in a very special way at the Christ of the Desert Monastery. We had a TOTAL BLAST rafting down the Rio Grande. The cliff dwellings were very interesting and truly take you back in time. We had stopped at Trader Joe's for groceries at the beginning of the week and came home each evening from our adventures to cook a simple, delicious dinner, relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the stunning sunsets. After dinner it was into the hot tub to see the stars. We have been in the country many times to stargaze, but nothing can explain the beauty of the sky at the top of this little hill away from the cares of busy, hectic lives. The bed was REALLY comfy and the home had absolutely EVERYTHING you would need to enjoy your stay. Please come and enjoy the time of your life - just not too many of you because we want to come back soon! = )

This casita was everything we hoped for and more. The views were even more spectacular than we imagined, with O'Keefe's red rocks to the north, her Pedernal mountain to the south, the Sangre de Christo range to the east, where we watched some stunning sunrises, more mountains to the west, changing light all the time--great for photography! We had snow, which meant less hiking but more snugness, and the casita is both beautiful in itself and beautifully decorated with local art--plus books, maps, games, cds and dvds to entertain us to our hearts' content, and plenty of cooking utensils. Last but not at all lest, the lovely hot tub to soak in...gazing at a skyful of stars, or at snow falling round. Thank you so much, Scott and Glynn. Alicia and Jerry Ostriker, Princeton,NJ

VRBO came through for us again !!!! What a truly awesome location we found with Abiqui’s Lake Casita !!!We spent a perfectly wonderful “autumn” week in this beautiful adobe casita. All our needs were met in this tastefully decorated home, along with all the comforts of a hot tub, gas barbeque, a good bed, a wonderful tiled shower, plus add to that the “most beautiful 360 degree view one can imagine.” Along with all that, we had the best owners, with Scott & Glynn that truly cared about our needs. We ventured out from California via Amtrak. Yes, by train. It is a fun relaxed way to see the country. We had pre-arranged with Scott to rent his ’95 jeep (better than having to go to a car rental). He was great right from the start with his phone and email exchanges. He met us at the train depot in Lamy, with camera in hand to snap the beginning of a truly wonderful adventure. There is a lot to see in New Mexico. We ventured out to many points of interests from Chama, Los Alamos, Taos and Santa Fe, etc. Did we miss staying with the rest of the tourists? Not at all. We had the world to ourselves on top of that mesa, watching the sun and clouds change the view of the Pedernal and the Red Cliffs from moment to moment. And if you can’t remember what stars look like, you’ll be glad to know that they still exist, living above Abiqui’s Lake Casita! We can already hear the train whistle blow for us to return again….this time for 2 weeks!!Lillian & Mike Downing, Pacheco, CA

What an amazing place! I can't believe that we were able to find such a relaxing and peaceful place only two hours from our home in Albuquerque. I am embarrassed to say that I have lived in Albuquerque almost all of my life and have never visited Abiquiu - I would go on about the Casita, but I think all the wonderfulness has been covered in the other 37 comments. What an incredibly magical place. We had fun all day and then relaxed in the hot tub at night. Thank you Scott & Glynn - we will be back!

We stayed in this beautiful casita for a week the end of June, first part of July, 2009. It is everything you see on the website and more! Scott and Glynn have done a fantastic job in decorating it in southwestern style, but also with comfort. Like I mentioned in the journal I wrote in before we left, this is a magical place! How do you describe the fabulous views all around the casita with the mountains in the background? The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular, and on numerous occasions we got up in the middle of the night to look at the stars. They were incredible. One of my favorites was experiencing a double rainbow after a rain one day. You'd have to live under a rock not to appreciate the beauty of this place. There is lots to see and do here; we hiked Chimney Rock at Ghost Ranch, the Plaza Blanca formations next to the mosque; the Puye Cliff Dwellings were so interesting; a must see! Ojo Caliente Hot Springs is also fun to do. We took a day trip to Santa Fe and enjoyed the art galleries and shopping. Los Alamos is another great little town! If you want a place that is peaceful and relaxing, then this is it. You will absolutely love it!!!

Awesome place, the best cabin I have ever stayed. Nice view and the out door hot tub was extra fun. The owner (Scott) is a very nice person and don’t mind going an extra mile for you comfort. And the housekeeper Brenda is very nice and helpful too. I am already planning my next trip there. ….

11pm. You are sitting in a soothing hot tub, drink in hand, under the darkest of skies. Yet the millions of stars that spill from every direction illuminate the ground like a new moon. Close your eyes and you can feel them: ancient light sliding softly over your skin. So far away and yet so tangible, they oversee The Great Silence that stretches across the desert night. Silence broken only by murmurs of the Eternal, carried on the breeze: "Peace. Be still. Welcome." This is the message everywhere you turn in and around the Casita. Wood stacked for your fires. Utensils for your cooking. A bed you won't want to leave. A secluded location with a commanding perspective. My wife and I visited for a week, having a "stay-cation" far from our Northeast home. We have no dining recommendations because we made all of our meals in the casita's well-appointed kitchen. Why go out when you can dine with a 360-degree view of some of the most spectacular scenery in the world? So we cooked, ate, soaked, felt the stars, watched the sun rise and set and viewed some of the excellent DVDs that Scott and Glynn have assembled. It's a wonderful place where all the creases and knots of urban Northeastern life were smoothed and loosened. We did venture out to see some of the sights. The mountain Pedernal presides over the landscape, so massive that it is more like a planet than a mountain, its gravity keeping the surrounding world in place. Plaza Blanca looks more like the moon than anything on earth. The rocks at Ghost Ranch are stunning, and walking the labyrinth there is a powerful experience. Echo amphitheatre is interesting and fun. If you really want an adventure, drive the 13 mi., cliff-hugging, rutted dirt road to Christ in the Desert Monastery. It is neither for the faint of heart nor the poor in faith. Never, ever consider driving it if it's wet. But it's worth the ride: mile after mile of rugged, untouched country, a sinuous, raging river, and breathtaking vistas at the top of each hairpin turn. If you're thinking of getting away, get to this Casita while you can. With a fabulous house, an amazing location and attentive owners (who also have good decorating sense), you can't go wrong.

We have rented dozens of vacation homes, and this one is by far the nicest one. Many have a great view, comfortable furniture, stylish decor, good location, well stocked kitchen or features like a hot tub or nice fireplace. This one has it all, and in addition, there is privacy without having to drive far off the grid. We have stayed here twice, and will be back. There is no more affordable, quality lodgings available.

We had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful casita from Sept. 19th to Sept. 22nd, which I must say was not long enough. The casita itself is so warm and cozy, the decor is wonderful and the extra amenities provided by Scott and Glynn are perfect. The view from this fabulous home is beyond description. We have tried to express in words the beauty of the landscape but have been unable to do it justice. We, too, hope that not too many people find out about this place as we intend to return and would be terribly disappointed if it was not available to us. We visited Ghost Ranch and made the hike to Chimney Rock - the most stunning views you can imagine. Relaxing in the hot tub under the stars after a long hike was a perfect way to end a perfect day. We wish to express our thanks to Scott and Glynn for allowing us to spend time in this wonderful, magical place. We are just sorry that we did not have the opportunity to meet them and thank them personally, maybe next time. It was an experience that will not be forgotten. Sincerely, Karen & Don, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

I didn't have the chance to write in the guestbook while I was there but I wanted to put a great review up for this place. My friend from work and I road triped up there and stayed for three nights. The views from the casita were amazing and it was extremely relaxing hanging out in the hot tub or just sitting out on back/front porch. One place I do have to recommend like crazy is Casa Blancas, it is an extremely easy hike and has some wonderful views! We were able to walk right up to it and have a picnic lunch by it. If you don't feel like leaving *totally understandable* try hiking down the big hill in the back. I went down there and found some dried up stream bed looking areas and it is a nice hike up. I took my dog and this is by far the most pet friendly place I have been too. She had a blast getting to hike around with us and even went swimming down at the lake. The casita was clean and was everything they said it was.

Just like the previous visitors I came with my sister. We stayed for 4 days and then went to Santa Fe missing the casita the entire time. I came here to paint but the need to paint dissolved as I watched the ever changing scenery in awe. The play of light and clouds changes the view of the mountains continuously. I did get some painting done on the second day. I can't say enough about our stay here. Beautiful, clean, quiet, a place for introspection. The hot tub is maintenance free - just remove the cover and enjoy! You'll be entranced by the 360 degree view. No wonder NM license plates say "land of enchantment". Scott and Glynn obviously put a lot of forethought and love into this place. We had the opportunity to spend some time with them and thoroughly enjoyed it. The casita is a beautiful house and well stocked. We slept soundly - the mattress was as comfortable as mine at home. We stopped at Trader Joes in Santa Fe on our way and did not have to make any emergency stops at the store for our entire stay. My plan is to bring my husband here for our anniversary in 2009. Thank you Scott and Glynn!! ~ Ria and Grea

my sister and I visited the Abiquiu Lake Casita the end of June and were amazed that such a place could be rented. Of course the calendar fills up quickly so getting the last 3 days that were available this summer must have been meant to be. I live in the foothills of Boulder which is beautiful, peacfull and magnificent but the Casita at Abiquiu made me very envious. We are still thinking about it. Our next three day stay in Santa Fe was very difficult to take because we longed to be back at Abiquiu. You really can't describe how magical the casita, surrounding buttes, sky, water and energy all come together in one amazing location. I hope you too can experience it one day. Thank you Scott for making our visit so memorable. Sincerely, Diana and Catherine

The casita is the perfect place to relax and enjoy peace and quiet, but also close enough to enjoy Taos and Santa Fe. It is truly the best of both worlds. Favorite days were long hikes in national forests and then soaking in hot tub while staring at the stars. We would definitely recommend this casita .Dick and Judy Gerber, St. Louis

We had the best vacation here that we've had in years. The casita is very generously appointed with a grand view from every window. We've been to New Mexico on a number of occasions - to Taos and SanteFe, but I don't know if I could ever go back there knowing what I do now about Abiquiu. We loved every minute. We will be back. (p.s. Great hiking is near. I ate really great food and still lost 2 lbs.)Thank you Scott and Glynn. You've done a great job with the place.

My husband Eric and I spent our 1st anniversary at the Lake Casita. It was wonderful! Scott and Glynn provide all the amenities one would need. The house is comfortable and decorated beautifully. The patios provide 360 degrees of incredible views. The hot tub was fabulous, especially at night under the stars. The mesa feels private and is absolutely quiet and peaceful. Thank you, we will be back!

This is a idea choice for a visit to the northern NM area. This fully stocked casita was perfectly situated on a mesa between Lake Abiquiu and Pedernal. The views were spectacular whether the sun was rising, setting or just relaxing in the hot tub under the stars. The location of the casita enabled us to visit many beautiful areas, historical sites, and enjoy Mexican cuisine whether eating out, or preparing a meal in the fully stocked kitchen. We visited Ghost Ranch, Taos, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Echo Amphitheatre, and took several hikes. During our week northern NM adventure we enjoyed total privacy and benefitted from a well-thought-out facility designed for a romantic getaway. Try it, you'll love it!

The casita is a great place to stay if you want to explore the area, or just veg out and relax. Our kids (3 and 5) loved it just as much as my wife and I, and it was hard for us to leave at the end of the week! Scott was very professional and accommodating, and a simply a pleasure to do business with.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at this mesa top casita in the middle of O'Keeffe country. The views are stunning and the casita is equipped with all the amenities including a hot tub that makes for spectacular star gazing. This is a magical place - Next time we'll stay longer.
