Grey Ledge Cottage, offered by: Downeast Maine Vacation Rentals, Inc. Link to us below to more pictures and info!
Grey Ledge cottage is a beautiful modern home sitting on two acres with 250 ft of oceanfront on the coasts of Deer Isle. Facing South East looking across the sailing lanes of Eggemoggin Reach.
The interior is spacious and bright with room for a large family or couples traveling together. Three bedrooms in the main house (one queen, one full and two twins) and two twin beds in the apartment with a full size sleeper sofa. The Apartment is fully independent of the house, though will not be rented separately. It can be used with the house for an additional $400.
The main house offers a gourmet kitchen and granite counter tops throughout, a sitting room with built in benches facing the sea, a cozy wood burning stove in the living room, an oversized tub in the master bath off the master bedroom and many details thought of throughout the house. There is a gas grill on the deck, picnic table near the shore and a rubber dingy with an outboard, a 10 ft row boat and a canoe, just for fun.
A large grassy yard for the kids and lots of thick mossy woods to be explored. This house is fully equipped with every amenity a family could need on vacation. Come sit on the deck and relax awhile!

Our Grey Ledge Stay
Our Grey Ledge Stay
First I would like to say that the setting was peaceful and Deer Isl. was beautiful, Grey Ledge was comfortable though not exactly represented correctly in the VRBO ad. There was only a canoe and rubber dingy, no 10ft. row boat or outboard as listed, and only one life jacket for a child, none for adults. There was no picnic table by the water. We rented the extra apt. along with the main home, there was no washer and dryer in it, it may have been located in the garage below, but that was locked and no key was provided. The apt. windows on each end had no screens, and the blinds were mangled, it was very hot and there were no fans available. There was a bad smell in the apt. and the oven was full of cobwebs and also had a very bad smell. The shower head was broken and had to be rubberbanded on. There was no working satellite or t.v. in the apt. The towels had an awful musty smell and the dishes in the cupboard had dried on food. The washer in the main home had residual bleach left from a previous time which in turn leaked out and caused damage to our colored clothing. When we arrived the first evening planning to B.B.Q. we found the propane tank empty and the grill was filthy. I called the property manager about these issues and was told I could go buy fans and propane at the local hardware store and they would reimburse me for the cost. That was fine except that the store was closed and we had to get it the following day, we opted to not buy fans, and the propane reimbursement took 4 weeks to arrive. There was only one roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, for 8 adults for a week, so we had to purchase our own. Then there was the issue of hauling our garbage to the dump station, that was something that was told to us ahead of time, but some details of that were left out. There were no garbage bags provided, and the dump was closed on thursdays, something that would have been helpful to know before hauling a bunch of stinky garbage in the trunk of our rental car. Lastly the road to Grey Ledge was very narrow and pot holed, room for only one car and on several occasions there were large utility trucks blocking the road doing some sort of landscaping/tree removal that we had to sit and wait for before we could drive out.
