Location: Paris Arrondissement 6, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe (Rue du Cherche-Midi Metro Sevres Babylone and St Placide)
Accommodations: Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-5)
Keywords: Apartment
The spacious (600 square feet) apartment is located in St Germain des Pres on the lovely Rue du Cherche-Midi, steps away from the Bon Marche department store. The building was once a convent and the cobblestone courtyard and terraced walkways have been lovingly preserved.
The apartment is on the first floor (one flight of stairs up) overlooking the peaceful courtyard. It was entirely refurbished in Fall 2005. The large living room features two large windows and very high ceilings with original oak beams. There is a desk, a coffee table, television, and two comfortable couches (both convertible). The decorations are a harmonious mixture of beige and dark wood with plum accents.
There is a designer open kitchen with breakfast bar. The kitchen is also newly redone and is comprehensively equipped with ceramic hob, oven, refrigerator and separate freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, and coffee maker. The breakfast bar comfortably seats four people and is the perfect place to have coffee in the morning and meals throughout the day.
The bedroom has a large window, comfortable queen-sized bed with wooden bed frame and matching side tables and wardrobe. There is also a spacious built-in wardrobe. The bathroom has been completely redone in pale blue tiles. It has a bathtub and a wall-mounted power shower fixture with a glass shower screen.
It is a perfect location, should you wish to take a French language course at Alliance Francaise, or a cooking course at Patricia Wells cooking School.

The apartment is as pictured, very spacious and comfortable (including the bed), and as it is located facing an inner courtyard, wonderfully quiet. It is well-situated, with easy access to several Metro lines, and a great base to walk and explore the city. There's a lovely boulangerie/patisserie just outside the entrance to the building, and the Bon Marche Grand Epicerie (gourmet foods) is also nearby, along with numerous cafes and restaurants. Washer and dryer were a big plus. We'd definitely stay here again.

Excellent location, both centrally located and yet quiet. Near several Metro stops, boulangeries and stores. Wonderful, responsive owners. Comfortable couch beds. Overall appointments (especially bathroom ventilation and apartment lighting) not quite top notch, but not a major problem either. We would definitely return.
Owner response:We have installed a new ventilator in the bathroom and added some new lamps.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My wife and I, our 14 year old son and 11 year old daughter stayed in this beautiful apartment in mid-August 2009. The trip that we were on included time in Rome, which is a “walking” city. Since Paris is so big, the key to getting around is the awesome metro system and this apartment is close to the St Placide metro, which is a very good line and not too much further is the Montparnasse Bienvenue metro which gives you even better access to the city. The neighborhood is safe and the apartment is very quiet even though there are a lot of shops within a few steps, a great bakery right next door, a very good brasserie right across the street and Bon Marche down the street. The interior is well thought out, there is a kitchen with all necessary appliances but it doesn’t take up too much room. There are two sofa beds (one full size and one queen size) in the living area that are much more comfortable for sleeping on than any sofa bed I’ve ever found in the states. To get to the bathroom you have to go through the bedroom which was the only minor downside of the apartment, but it really didn’t cause an issue with privacy for any of us.The apartment has modern furniture, appliances and bathroom, and the portable air conditioner was a god-send because we hit Paris during a time when they had 98 degree temps, but the courtyard gives it that classic Parisian charm, so you don’t just feel that you’re in Anytown, USA. One quick tip: Make sure you understand that there are switches laid out in strategic areas of the courtyard for when you stay out after dark (although not knowing how they worked upon returning after our first night of touring gave us a great memory that will stay with us forever). In the end, we whole-heartedly recommend this apartment, it is a big part of our family’s “experience of a lifetime” that we had on our 2009 European vacation

I fantastic apartment, neat clean and it had everything we needed right down to plenty of toilet paper and washing detergent. The location was amazing so many shops and restaurants and a short walk to the river and other attractions. It was so nice to wake up to the smell of Pain au chocolat from the pattisserie below. A++++ Highly reccommend.
