Watch the spectacular sunrises while enjoying breakfast on the lanai.
Our home was remodeled in 2006. The kitchen has all new appliances and cabinets. The bedrooms have new beds. The living room has all the comforts of home, with new furniture and tv/dvd player.
The master suite includes private bath with shower. It has the amazing ocean view and contains a king size bed and sliding doors out to the lanai (balcony, deck).
The second bedroom has a queen size bed
The third bedroom has 2 twin beds.
All bedrooms have TV's with cable.
Enjoy Hawaii in this quiet neighborhood away from the noise of the city. The city bus stops across the street for easy access to the Kahala mall, Waikiki, and all other Oahu attractions. We are located 15 minutes East of Waikiki and 15 West of Hanauma Bay. A great place to relax after a busy day of touring.
Here are some added extras for your use while staying in our home:
1 set of mens golf clubs, 1 set of womens golf clubs, beach towels, snorkel gear, beach chairs, coolers and boogie boards.
While enjoying dinner on the lanai, listen to our selection of Hawaiian music.
We also provide toilet paper, paper towels, linens, laundry soap and dishwasher detergent.

Location Location Location. We are away from the busy noisy downtown area and on the south sunny side of the island. We love having a home so close to where Fred grew up.

We love sitting on the lanai and seeing the ocean, the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the rainbows and the whales.
Owner's Map of Honolulu
Fred was born and raised in Honolulu. He bought this house in 1982 and lived here until 1998 when he moved to Idaho to start a new life with Kari and her daughter Jaime. During a family visit in 2005, we decided to turn Fred's home into a vacation rental so we could stay in it while visiting family. We love having people come and stay in our home so they can experience staying in a true Hawaiian style home.

Just stayed with our toddler for two weeks - wonderful ocean/valley views, tasteful and comfortable decor, very accommodating owners, great neighborhood and location. Would not hesitate recommending this property to anyone who wants to stay relatively close to central Honolulu in one of the better neighborhoods on O'ahu. Also a wonderful place for former kama'aina. A great find. Mahalo nui loa, Kari and Fred!

We're just back from a week here with the family. It was just as advertised and met our needs perfectly. It was clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We spent most of our time on the lanai - every meal and every evening. The wifi worked fine - fast enough to stream Tangled for our 2 year old - over and over! Some of us had spent the week before in Waikiki and this house was definitely more relaxing. The grocery store was really great - now remodeled and deluxe. The beach is a bit of a drive - I recommend San Souci - near the Honolulu Aquarium. Check your map and drive by Kahala Mall and then via Diamond Head Ave - takes about 10 minutes.
Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Enjoyed our visit very much. Older home; recently updated. Must climb up some fairly steep stairs from the street (wouldn't work great for someone older or disabled) but we considered it our workout. ;-) The home was very clean & had everything we needed for a nice stay. The backyard is private (no neighbors behind). We enjoyed the front deck with a nice view of the ocean in the distance - very nice to sit outside in the evenings. You can hear the neighbors sometimes but overall it was quiet. The owners were always prompt to respond to emails & gave helpful information. Worked great as a home base for our family.

This is the second stay we've had at this house and it was, as before, a wonderful and relaxing place to stay. The deck was great and this time we cooked several dinners ourselves and ate out on the deck....it was terrific. The house is so clean and well maintained that it looks the same as it did in 2007 when we last visited. We like the fact that it is away from the main tourist areas yet you can easily get to the main roads to go wherever you want to. I recommend this vacation house but be forewarned about the stairs -- that first climb ached but it got easier very quickly. We will definitely plan to stay here again...love it!

Thank you for letting us enjoy your home. We had a really nice time. The views were great and it had all the amenties you could possibly need. Hot time of year and no central heat and air so it did get really warm in the home in the afternoon, but other than that the experience was good. Mahalo, Terrie and Sean Dillon

We were really happy with this three bedroom home. Everything we needed was available to enjoy a quiet time at home. We sat on the front porch and watched the ocean and the little bit of rain we got. The climb to the front door was tough on my father (who has heart problems) but other than that the rest of us did great. After a week of going up and down my legs will look great. We enjoyed using the beach items cooler, chairs, towels. Each room has a large ceiling fan that kept the house quite comfortable. The owners even left a notebook with places to eat (and menus) and things to see while in Oahu.

We loved the house. It was clean and it had everything we needed for a week away from home. There was snorkel gear, beach chairs, beach towels, blow dryers, a fully functional kitchen, internet service and everything else we needed. The neighborhood was quiet. The view was beautiful. You could see the ocean and the waves but you are about a mile back up on a hill. I would definitely stay there again.

We loved this place! Rent it! The house is very close to the ocean and grocery store. The view from the patio is beautiful. The six of us also really enjoyed having more room (than a hotel). This cozy house is definitely where we will be staying when we visit Hawaii again!!!!!!!!

My wife and I stayed here with our 8 year old son and both sets of inlaws. Even for the seven of us it seem to have plenty of room, although I would recommend best for no more than six as it is listed. The house was well appointed with nice extras including beach supplies in the garage. We particularly enjoyed the deck with a weber grill and small TV. Our group spent some very relaxing mornings and evenings on the deck. The house was well appointed with fairly new appliances including a washer and drier that came in handy. This is the first time we worked with Home Away/VRBO and were a little apprehensive at first although our experience with Fred and Kari was excellent as they were very professional and responsive in all of our dealings.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.

We have lots of family in Hawaii and visit often. This is our first rental home and we loved it! Lovely home in great, quiet area. Incredibly convenient to highway, shopping (supermarket at foot of the hill). Fred and Kari were easy to communicate with, available when we had questions, and even addressed our specific needs (wirelss internet upgrade, yay!!!). The house is lovely, kitchen well stocked and grill easy to use. All the little extras made our stay with the kids (a toddler and a teen) SO much better including beach stuff, golf clubs, toys and pack n play :). After a long day of sightseeing or visiting family, it was perfect to come to a quiet home, cook a meal and sit on the lanai with a beer. In the morning we could not have asked for a better view, cool breeze, and quick drive to Haunama Bay before the parking lot filled up! Recommended attractions with kids: - Haunama Bay - Kaimana Beach (great for babies, across from Kaiolani Park, next to Otani hotel and short walk to aquarium) - Sea Life Park - Germain's Luau Best features: - well stocked and clean kitchen - comfy living room/dining room combo - amazing washer/dryer - quiet back patio and expansive front deck with great view - comfortable beds - very clean - lots of gekkos (lizards)!!! The toddler especially loved this - Beach gear stored in garage so no carrying up/down stairs after long day at beach Minor drawbacks: - Bugs (this is to be expected, there are bugs on tropical islands) - Window screens could be better fit to keep said bugs out Thank you so much for making our visit home feel more like home!!!
