We thought the house was superb and it completely met our expectations that were included in the listings and reviews. The photos and descriptions were very accurate. The house was very clean and all basic supplies were there upon our arrival. Much of the time we were there, we had a four year old child and a 16 month old with us. The house was excellent for the children and for us as it was very easy to keep an eye on them. The view from the house was wonderful. The neighborhood is exceptionally quiet and safe. A very nice supermarket is located nearby. It was very easy to drive from this location to other areas. The owners were very quick to respond to a few questions we had. I would definitely recommend this home without reservation. If we have the opportunity to visit Hawaii again, we will try to stay here again as our first choice. You won't regret staying here. It was wonderful.

Great Hawaiian Get Away!

My husband and I cannot begin to thank the owners for such a wonderful vacation! The listing was accurrate and photos reflect the appearance and amenities offered. They left no stone unturned when you are their guest. The home was equipped with every imaginable appliance, televisions, etc..and they left documentation on how everything worked, as well as ample information on restaurants, things to do, etc... You truly felt that they considered everything to make their home your home and they were successful in that regard. They were also readily available when any issues or questions arose. The house is easy access to everywhere...whether you want to go to Waikiki, Sunset Beach, North Shore or any other part of the island. Beach chairs, coolers everything you need for the beach are also there. If you golf, we would suggest you bring your own clubs. The home was really large and accomodating. It was just my husband and myself and we truly made the home our Hawaain suite! We used the rooms with the airconditioning as our changing rooms in the evening to get ready for dinner ( the house gets quite warm if you are always gone for the day and leave it locked up ) but when you're home and windows open, beautiful breezes and no need for airconditioning. We also loved watching the whales from the lanai with, of course, the binoculars were also supplied. We have been going to Hawaii for 20 years and would not hesitate to rent this home again.

We had a wonderful time on your beautiful island of Oahu! Thank you for the great memories of our stay at your house! The location was excellent . . . . a peaceful drive to a relaxing neighborhood. It truly felt like we were driving home! All instructions provided to us were very helpful and very much appreciated! The description of the house was accurate . . . very clean, comfortable and supplied with all we needed for a great vacation. The nearby Foodland grocery store, restaurants etc . . . were perfectly located. We loved having meals and spending time on the lanai. Such a beautiful view and the sunrises were breathtaking! We're just back from a week here with the family. It was just as advertised and met our needs perfectly. It was clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We spent most of our time on the lanai - every meal and every evening. The wifi worked fine - fast enough to stream Tangled for our 2 year old - over and over! Some of us had spent the week before in Waikiki and this house was definitely more relaxing. The grocery store was really great - now remodeled and deluxe. The beach is a bit of a drive - I recommend San Souci - near the Honolulu Aquarium. Check your map and drive by Kahala Mall and then via Diamond Head Ave - takes about 10 minutes.

Enjoyed our visit very much. Older home; recently updated. Must climb up some fairly steep stairs from the street (wouldn't work great for someone older or disabled) but we considered it our workout. ;-) The home was very clean & had everything we needed for a nice stay. The backyard is private (no neighbors behind). We enjoyed the front deck with a nice view of the ocean in the distance - very nice to sit outside in the evenings. You can hear the neighbors sometimes but overall it was quiet. The owners were always prompt to respond to emails & gave helpful information. Worked great as a home base for our family.

Wonderful Ocean-view and Relaxing Stay!

This is the second stay we've had at this house and it was, as before, a wonderful and relaxing place to stay. The deck was great and this time we cooked several dinners ourselves and ate out on the deck....it was terrific. The house is so clean and well maintained that it looks the same as it did in 2007 when we last visited. We like the fact that it is away from the main tourist areas yet you can easily get to the main roads to go wherever you want to. I recommend this vacation house but be forewarned about the stairs -- that first climb ached but it got easier very quickly. We will definitely plan to stay here again...love it!

Ohau vacation retreat

We were really happy with this three bedroom home. Everything we needed was available to enjoy a quiet time at home. We sat on the front porch and watched the ocean and the little bit of rain we got. The climb to the front door was tough on my father (who has heart problems) but other than that the rest of us did great. After a week of going up and down my legs will look great. We enjoyed using the beach items cooler, chairs, towels. Each room has a large ceiling fan that kept the house quite comfortable. The owners even left a notebook with places to eat (and menus) and things to see while in Oahu.

We loved the house. It was clean and it had everything we needed for a week away from home. There was snorkel gear, beach chairs, beach towels, blow dryers, a fully functional kitchen, internet service and everything else we needed. The neighborhood was quiet. The view was beautiful. You could see the ocean and the waves but you are about a mile back up on a hill. I would definitely stay there again.

We loved this place! Rent it! The house is very close to the ocean and grocery store. The view from the patio is beautiful. The six of us also really enjoyed having more room (than a hotel). This cozy house is definitely where we will be staying when we visit Hawaii again!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for sharing your house with us! The house is very comfortable and well-equipped but the deck is the best feature of the house. We also enjoyed taking walks every evening in the neighborhood and looking at the different trees and flowers and the design of the houses. It's nice to be away from the hustle of the city but still close enough to enjoy all of the sights. The listing photos were very accurate although I think the view is even nicer than the pictures show. I would definitely recommend this house.

My wife and I stayed here with our 8 year old son and both sets of inlaws. Even for the seven of us it seem to have plenty of room, although I would recommend best for no more than six as it is listed. The house was well appointed with nice extras including beach supplies in the garage. We particularly enjoyed the deck with a weber grill and small TV. Our group spent some very relaxing mornings and evenings on the deck. The house was well appointed with fairly new appliances including a washer and drier that came in handy. This is the first time we worked with Home Away/VRBO and were a little apprehensive at first although our experience with Fred and Kari was excellent as they were very professional and responsive in all of our dealings.

Great home - quiet and away from the craziness of Waikiki! House was very clean and well laid out! Master bedroom and bath were especially nice! 2 other bedrooms were small but sufficient. Kitchen was well supplied with cooking utensils and nice appliances! Great deck and deck furniture. Washer and dryer worked great! Six adults stayed there quite comfortably! The covered lanai overlooking the ocean and palm trees was my favorite part of this house. Even when it rained you could sit outside and enjoy the view and smell the flowers. We had a wonderful BBQ on Mother's day. We stayed in two houses in Hawaii (the other on the north shore) and took a vote with our family of 4 on which one everyone liked best and this one won! Reasons? The lanai (of course), the privacy, the view, the kitchen with all its supplies, the cable TV (there was a TV in every room plus the lanai), comfortable furniture, all the beach supplies, the neighborhood, and the owners (called to make sure we were good and all was clean). We arrived after dark and it was nice to have the movement lights automatically go on so we could find our way up the stairs. Suggested improvements would be to upgrade the bathrooms with granite and to level out the flooring (in places it seemed to slope) and include some DVDs to watch in the DVD player. We desperately wanted to watch "Pearl Harbor" after taking the tour but couldn't even find a place that had one to rent. Would we stay there again? Yes! Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

We rented this vacation rental for a wedding in late April 2011. The home was fantastic! It was very very clean and large. It is such a treat to arrive at your home away from home and have it be so much more than expected. The location is residential and quiet, and easy access to anywhere on the island. The owners have been wonderful to work with and I would not hesitate to recommend this rental to my friends, but indeed if we ever return Fred & Kari will be the first people we call!

We have lots of family in Hawaii and visit often. This is our first rental home and we loved it! Lovely home in great, quiet area. Incredibly convenient to highway, shopping (supermarket at foot of the hill). Fred and Kari were easy to communicate with, available when we had questions, and even addressed our specific needs (wirelss internet upgrade, yay!!!). The house is lovely, kitchen well stocked and grill easy to use. All the little extras made our stay with the kids (a toddler and a teen) SO much better including beach stuff, golf clubs, toys and pack n play :). After a long day of sightseeing or visiting family, it was perfect to come to a quiet home, cook a meal and sit on the lanai with a beer. In the morning we could not have asked for a better view, cool breeze, and quick drive to Haunama Bay before the parking lot filled up! Recommended attractions with kids: - Haunama Bay - Kaimana Beach (great for babies, across from Kaiolani Park, next to Otani hotel and short walk to aquarium) - Sea Life Park - Germain's Luau Best features: - well stocked and clean kitchen - comfy living room/dining room combo - amazing washer/dryer - quiet back patio and expansive front deck with great view - comfortable beds - very clean - lots of gekkos (lizards)!!! The toddler especially loved this - Beach gear stored in garage so no carrying up/down stairs after long day at beach Minor drawbacks: - Bugs (this is to be expected, there are bugs on tropical islands) - Window screens could be better fit to keep said bugs out Thank you so much for making our visit home feel more like home!!!

This rental is definitely the best deal when compared with other places. You absolutely cannot beat this price. We stayed in 2007 and have come back again in 2010. The view is wonderful from the balcony. You can see the mountain and the ocean, it is very peaceful. We were able to take walks in the a.m.; the people in the area are so friendly. The location is wonderful, so close to the stores, shops, restaurants...it is most ideal. The accommodations are excellent, comfortably housing 6 of us, two bathrooms were adequate. It has its own washer and dryer which came in handy. We were able to get a good strong internet signal that came with the free Wi-Fii and the phone calls (even long distance) were free. The house is clean and well kept. It was stocked with snorkel equipment, beach towels and boogie boards. I would recommend this place to friends and family and will be back again. Kari Haines, the owner made us feel very welcome, We had a late flight out and she allowed us to stay late our last day before our departure at no extra charge (very generous). Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

My family of 5 enjoyed our stay tremendously. We were glad to be away from the noise of Waikiki but still close to water sports. Fred and Kari are so thoughtful to give directions pointing out the nearest grocery store on the way TO the house. We were able to get everything we needed for breakfast though we arrived after 10 pm. There is also a Costco nearby if you have growing boys like we do. Wifi is important to our kids and it worked perfectly.

We had the most enjoyable stay at this lovely home. It had so many amenities and extra supplies, that it really made life easy. Thanks to Fred and Kari for opening up their home to us. Their home was clean, had all of the comforts of home including a rice cooker, and the view on the lanai is breathtaking. They were so accomodating that they even added cable tv to the twin bedroom per our request! When we first arrived, we were intimidated by the 50 steps it takes to get up to the house, but it ended being a good thing because you'll need the exercise after all of the wonderful hawaiian eats. Aloha Fred and Kari, Thank you for the opportunity to rent your lovely home! We had an amazing 10 days in paradise and truly appreciated all of the comforts you provided. The ability to pack "light" given all of the amenities in your home, was a real bonus, and allowed us to purchase lots of island souvenirs and gifts to bring home to family and friends. It was nice to be able to eat-in when we wanted and fire up the grill or cook a full sit-down meal whenever we pleased. Travel to and from all of our destinations was a piece of cake as your property is ideally located and convenient to major highways with public transportation close by. After returning from a full fun-filled day at the beach, swap meet, or shopping, it was nice to spread out and relax back at home. We made good use of the many (5) TV's (we even brought along our own Wii for the kids) and fantastic views and cooling breeze from your lanai! Would certainly recommend your home to others! Thanks Fred and Kari for a wonderful experience. We had a group of old college friends stay at their house for a wedding. We are so thrilled we chose to rent a vacation home instead of staying in a hotel. The house is as beautiful as everyone says, has a great view and is very well taken care of, comfortable. Fred and Kari did a really good job of helping us through the rental process, and preparing the house to include everything we could possibly want or need. We liked staying at the house so much that sometimes we gave up on going out and just stayed around and relaxed. All in all, staying at the house has made this vacation one that I'll remember forever. Thanks again!

Our family lived in Aina Haina in the 1960's and decided to return for a family reunion. The rental house was awesome! All basic supplies (soap, TP, towels, kitchen utensils, dishes, etc.) were ready for our use. The house was spotlessly clean and quite comfortable. Our family enjoyed sitting on the lanai, watching the sunrise every morning. The ocean and valley views are tremendous! The house is within walking distance of the Aina Haina Shopping Center which has a grocery store, bank, post office, library and several restaurants.(Make sure to have an Icee at the Doe Fang store). It was very easy to have our meals right at the house, which saves a bundle compared to staying at Waikiki. The house is also conveniently located in relation to highways and beaches. Getting around on Oahu is no problem from this location. If you don't feel like driving, the bus stop is located right across the street. Fred and Kari's attention to details and comfort is outstanding! We had a great time at your house. Mahalo Nui Loa!!

Wonderful place! We had 4 girls with us ranging in the ages of 18-11 and they absolutely loved it! We couldn't have asked for a better place. It was so nice to come "home" after a busy day. This house was perfect for our needs. We had such a wonderful time. It was great to have beach towels, snorkel equipment, and cooler chests available for our use. Just stayed with our toddler for two weeks - wonderful ocean/valley views, tasteful and comfortable decor, very accommodating owners, great neighborhood and location. Would not hesitate recommending this property to anyone who wants to stay relatively close to central Honolulu in one of the better neighborhoods on O'ahu. This place was awesome! Very clean, very unique and cheerful! We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the morning and having our coffee and in the evenings watching the sunset. The location is teriffic and centralized to everything. Just like a home away from home. Very accommodating.

We all enjoyed our stay. The home is very spacious, comfortable, clean, nicely decorated and only about a 15-minute drive to Waikiki. Our grill chef was very pleased with the grill--he even had to have a picture taken with his "favorite grill." The kitchen is very well supplied with dishes, pans and utensils–the only thing missing was a pizza pan but Kari said she was going to make that addition. The home was well-stocked with essential supplies. It was nice not to have to worry about buying soap, paper towels and toilet paper, etc. on vacation. Very easy to recommend.

Fred & Kari, We wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for your wonderful accommodations. You house is absolutely beautiful and your attentiveness to any issues that may have arose was unbelievable. The views of the ocean made for an extremely relaxing getaway. WOW!!!! It was better than the description given on the website. We stayed a week and had a fabulous time. For everything and then some that you could want in the comfort of home away from home. Everything was clean, comfortable and relaxing. 5+ Star rating

This is an truly a beautiful vacation home. We absolutely enjoyed every single second. We were in Hawaii for my son's graduation from Hawaii Pacific U. and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. We had six women and we were all totally comfortable. You have done everything possible to make certain that your guests have everything they need. I just can't name everything but we were truly amazed at the extent of what you provide to your guests! It was immaculate and clean and comfortable in every way. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

We stayed in Hawaii for a week to run the Honolulu Marathon and the place was fabulous! It had an awesome view, very comfortable and tons of ammenities. We made great use of the grill, scuba gear, beach towels, w/d etc! I thought the location was perfect, it was east of downtown Waikiki, but has great highway access. Kari was extremely easy to deal with and get ahold of!I would recommend this house to anyone staying on Oahu.

We stayed at the house for 11 days and were very comforatable. The 6 of us (all women) found the house to be comfortable and in a very quiet neighbourhood. We were there for the earthquake and we lucky to have the BBQ for our meals.Kari goes out of her way to ensure your stay is great.

We stayed here for a week and it was so nice to get back to this relaxing place that felt like home after a long day of sightseeing. It's not too far from the downtown area of Waikiki and it was so great to just bbq on the lanai in the evenings and enjoy the beautiful view. Kari really went the extra mile to make sure that we were comfortable. We definitely would recommend this place!

We stayed for two weeks and had a truly amazing and relaxing stay here-this is such a wonderful home! It is in a great location, in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood but yet a very short drive to the excitement of the usual tourists attractions. The view from the lanai is mesmerizing. Thank you for anticipating our every possible need. This house does have everything, very spacious, and everything is new. I can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay and we'll have many fond memories of our time here. Our experience was fantastic and our search is over for future visits. We will be coming back here as often as we can. Thank so much for sharing this wonderful piece of paradise!

They have put a lot of care & love into this remodel, they want you to feel at home, and they surely made us feel that way. Great sunrise and sunsets. Very quite street, location is great, close by attractions in each direction. 15 mins from the airport, and 15 mins from Sandy Beach.
