Nourish yourself with the beauty, sea life, and ever-changing water and skies of pristine Tomales Bay. “Raspberry House” is built over the beautiful bay with water-view floor-to-ceiling windows in living room and sun room. Kitchen windows look across the bay in two directions.
Dancing sunlight sparkles on the water, while a wood-burning stove in living room offers a cozy treat. View the bay from plush queen sofa bed in sun-room. A comfy queen bed in bedroom overlooks garden. A large upper deck has charcoal barbeque, soothing glider couch, table and chairs. Lower deck has a kayak ramp to the water and beach at low tide. Convenient laundry area has washer and dryer. Free wireless in all rooms and deck. Optional second unit off the lower deck has its own kitchen & features a Hot Tub, Jacuzzi bathtub in a small but exquisite bathroom you'll always remember, sleeps two.
A lovely sculpted private garden features luxurious a luxurious four-person hot tub, redwood meditation bench overlooking a small Buddha Pond. Jaunt down to the rocky beach (shared access). Enjoy true peace and quiet — allow yourself to be wooed into 'being', it happens effortlessly. It’s hard to believe a place this natural and untouched still exists so close to a major metropolitan area. Raspberry House is perfect for a retreat, a romantic getaway, a memory-making family vacation or a charming roost from which to explore the rich offerings of nearby attractions.
It’s a short walk to the Hog Island Oyster Co., Tony's Seafood and Marshall Store & Boat Works (great fun when herring are in season). Each serves decadently delicious locally grown oysters (my favorites are the barbecued and Rockefeller... mmmm!). Great restaurants and bars, some with music, are nearby in Point Reyes Station, Olema, and Inverness. Have a ball at the Dance Palace in Point Reyes Station. You’ll find delicious bakeries in Pt. Reyes Station, Tomales (15 min), and Freestone (25 min). Minutes away across the bay is Point Reyes National Seashore –it has an award-winning visitor center, great hiking trails, nesting bald eagles and roaming herds of albino deer & Thule elk (try to catch a glimpse). Stroll on miles of white sand beaches. You may spot seals, sea lions, otters, dolphins and whales. Tide pools teem with sea life. Dillon Beach and Bodega Bay are only 25 & 30 minutes north. Enjoy enzyme baths and massage at Osmosis (25 minutes), winery touring in Napa & Sonoma Valleys, rafting the Russian River (40 minutes), exploring the world-class coast and beaches, or touring and feasting in San Francisco & Berkeley, only one hour away.

Year Purchased: 1989
About: I bought Raspberry House when my youngest son went off to college and I needed an inspiring place from which to write my dissertation. It has been that (as you can see on volumes of books on relationship) and more - a spiritual retreat, a healing sanctuary, a place to discover and be nourished by the endless wonders of nature, on the water in my kayak or hiking the trails of the national seashore.
Inside and out, I was passionate about creating beauty. Each year I transformed a small area in the old railroad bed yard into lush greenery and flowers. Sculptures from my travels or early morning foraging in my kayak were added next. And recently the The story of why I felt such passion to do this is told in the next section.
I have always commuted a few days a week to the South Bay to support myself and recently retired from a fulfilling career as an organization consultant, mostly in Silicon Valley and around the world where high tech companies sent me. After years of being a therapist, I transferred to assisting people to wake up and live the lives they really want to live.
Why Marshall: I think the photos tell the story of why I chose this property. There's no place quite like it.
