Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands. It is 48 miles long and 26 miles wide with a land area of 729 square miles and 120 miles of shoreline.

Why the Owner Chose Papakea Resort
Papakea is a piece of paradise. We became full time owners in the ocean front unit in the L building. Before we bought L402 we were interval share owners in the K building. We bought our oceanfront unit in 1998. Our oceanfront unit has been totally updated as our second home, not just a rental. We love the sound of the surf in the morning and evening sunsets from the direct full ocean views on our lanai and master suite. Papakea's grounds are beautifully maintained with koi ponds and putting greens, 2 pool areas with cabanas and jacuzzies and gas BB Q's. It's a quieter and comfortable complex and close to everything.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Papakea is a resort on the ocean that is centrally located. World class golf, restaurants and shopping are only minutes away. The quaint town of Lahaina is less than 10 minutes by car.
Papakea has the ocean beach and green grassy lawns. Lay out by the pool or on the lawn lounge chairs next to the ocean. Putting greens to play golf, tennis courts, 2 pools with BBQ's and shuffleboard and koi ponds on property with a friendly front desk and concierge service. You can walk for miles on the beach and new boardwalk south all the way to Whaler's Village and beyond. We are located just north of all the hotels, so it is a very relaxing place to hang oout or get in the car to find your own piece of paradise, knowing the sunset will be there upon your return from your private lanai. We love to walk in the morning and golf at the world class golf courses nearby, nap in the afternoon on the lawn chairs by the beach and BBQ in the evening and dine on our lanai. Star gazing is also fun to do at night down on the lawn chairs!!

We had such a full week that it is hard to describe. The condo was well equipped for our family of 6, that included 4 teen agers. Thanks for all the furnished items like the cooler on wheels, the backpack beach chairs, the Road to Hana CD, tennis rackets, binoculars and more. We only cooked on the grill once and mostly got takeout food from the many Mom and Pop places nearby. Be sure and visit the Fish Market, the Japanese Deli , Badass Coffee and Farmer's market in the nearby strip malls. The Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina is great for sunset views and decent prices. Definitely take your group on the road to Hana one day, and don't be afraid to travel completely around the south side of the island. It was a great drive on an all day trip, and many curves reminded us of many of the mountain roads in Va. or W Va. But to have the blue ocean and mountains in the same view was awesome. We took the day ferry to Lanai and snorkeled with dolphins at 8 in the morning. Airport Beach, Honolua Bay and Kapalua Bay were great for snorkeling and seeing turtles. Maui gold pineapple, passion fruit and fruit jellies on banana bread were some of our local goodies. Drink POG and you will be glad you did ! You can buy it at local groceries and restaurants. Watch your step at the Nakele blowhole but it is good for a late afternoon shower. Our new Sony A100 took great sunset pics from the lanai with that palm tree in the foreground. There were too many million dollar views. We also had the pleasure of a full moon during our stay and got some great pics of the moon setting on the western horizon at 5am. We even saw a "moonbow" one night about 10pm in the western sky. Just be prepared to wake up about 4:00 to 4:30 am each morning, brew some Kona or Maui coffee and sit on the lanai. We did not golf, go to the Haleakala crater or jump off Black Rock but there is always next time. Many thanks to the Brashens for their comfy condo which met our needs even though we were out exploring the island most of the time. The friendly aloha spirit was contagious right down to our last day on surf boards at Kaanapali. We met so many friendly folks that I have a feeling that we will be back some day.

Our family of 6 stayed in this condo which accommodated us very comfortably. The oceanfront view is outstanding. I'm reminded every day of the view since I have a picture on my desktop of the gorgeous sunset and palm tree in view. The decor was superb and it smelled so clean and fresh. Love the cobblestone shower floors. Nice touch! You get such a great cross-ventilation in this unit that we didn't even have to turn on the A/C the entire time we were there. There's a great selection of games and books and even golf clubs and golf balls to use for the putting green. The ice coolers come in handy on the long road to Hana too! This condo is just a short drive to Whalers Village and the old town of Lahaina. The Old Lahaina Luau was fantastic and Pacific Whale Foundation for Snorkeling and Dinner Cruise was excellent. The drive to Hana was a must! Yes, you can drive your own rental car on the road to Hana. We went the whole way around with no problem. Swam in the seven sacred pools - awesome! Thank you for a great vacation in your beautiful condo. This was our third time at the Papakea and definitely the nicest condo we have rented at this property. We love the location and being able to walk to the farmer's market, fish market, grocery and beach. This condo has everything - beach towels, games, books, beach chairs and more. We would definitely recommend it and hope to come back in the future. Mahalo.

We have stayed in this gorgeous unit with our two boys 4 times during spring break and absolutely love it! It fully corresponds to the description of the property/unit on VRBO. It has been beautifully and tastefully remodeled and has everything you could want, including beach chairs, beach towels and a blender for those so delicious tropical drinks!! The views from the lanai are breathtaking and there are even binoculars for whale viewing. Papakea is immaculately maintained and shopping is within walking distance. Given the relatively small size of Papakea Resort, compared to the resorts just south in Kaanapali, the feel is more quiet and intimate with no sense of being "amongst the crowds". The owners have been fabulous to work with over the years and we would certainly recommend this unit to family and friends!

Janet, It was everything we hoped for and more. Our moms had a wonderful time. The condo was comfortable, clean and perfectly located on the ocean!. We all loved the fact that we didn't have to rush out to breakfast in the morning before room service showed up! We could take our time and RELAX! We met new friends in the condo next door (renters) and created everlasting memories with our moms. We didn't want to leave! In fact, I just checked the calendar for February. We stayed in your condo from 4/11-4/18/10. It was a vacation beyond our wildest expectations. We had our entire family including grandchildren with us and we could not have had a better time. PRICELESS! We rented the condo next door as well and that just worked out perfectly. The entire condo was perfect, so nicely decorated and apparently very recently redone. It was nice to meet you when we were there, certainly can see why you love your Hawaii home!

We stayed at your place in December a week before Christmas. Great time to go, very quiet! Really enjoyed the condo. Great view for whale watching. Good general location. Only negative is I think it's time to upgrade the upstairs bathroom. Everything else is top notch!!
