We stayed in this unit for the week of 3-24-2012. It was perfect. The pictures do not do it justice. Everything you need is there for you. Fully outfited kitchen with granite and SS appliances. All the pots, pans and untensils that you would ever need. The beds are great. The unit is very roomy. We sat on the balcony and watched the Whales directly in front of the unit in the harbor. Two pools for the kids, 2 putting green courses, shuffleboard and most important this oceanfront unit is only a few feet from the water. Best view in the complex. Thanks for a great vacation.

Our family of 6 stayed in this condo which accommodated us very comfortably. The oceanfront view is outstanding. I'm reminded every day of the view since I have a picture on my desktop of the gorgeous sunset and palm tree in view. The decor was superb and it smelled so clean and fresh. Love the cobblestone shower floors. Nice touch! You get such a great cross-ventilation in this unit that we didn't even have to turn on the A/C the entire time we were there. There's a great selection of games and books and even golf clubs and golf balls to use for the putting green. The ice coolers come in handy on the long road to Hana too! This condo is just a short drive to Whalers Village and the old town of Lahaina. The Old Lahaina Luau was fantastic and Pacific Whale Foundation for Snorkeling and Dinner Cruise was excellent. The drive to Hana was a must! Yes, you can drive your own rental car on the road to Hana. We went the whole way around with no problem. Swam in the seven sacred pools - awesome! Thank you Janet for letting our family enjoy your beautiful condo. We will definetely recommend it to our family & friends. Mahalo! Mahalo!

Adventure in paradise

We had such a full week that it is hard to describe. The condo was well equipped for our family of 6, that included 4 teen agers. Thanks for all the furnished items like the cooler on wheels, the backpack beach chairs, the Road to Hana CD, tennis rackets, binoculars and more. We only cooked on the grill once and mostly got takeout food from the many Mom and Pop places nearby. Be sure and visit the Fish Market, the Japanese Deli , Badass Coffee and Farmer's market in the nearby strip malls. The Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina is great for sunset views and decent prices. Definitely take your group on the road to Hana one day, and don't be afraid to travel completely around the south side of the island. It was a great drive on an all day trip, and many curves reminded us of many of the mountain roads in Va. or W Va. But to have the blue ocean and mountains in the same view was awesome. We took the day ferry to Lanai and snorkeled with dolphins at 8 in the morning. Airport Beach, Honolua Bay and Kapalua Bay were great for snorkeling and seeing turtles. Maui gold pineapple, passion fruit and fruit jellies on banana bread were some of our local goodies. Drink POG and you will be glad you did ! You can buy it at local groceries and restaurants. Watch your step at the Nakele blowhole but it is good for a late afternoon shower. Our new Sony A100 took great sunset pics from the lanai with that palm tree in the foreground. There were too many million dollar views. We also had the pleasure of a full moon during our stay and got some great pics of the moon setting on the western horizon at 5am. We even saw a "moonbow" one night about 10pm in the western sky. Just be prepared to wake up about 4:00 to 4:30 am each morning, brew some Kona or Maui coffee and sit on the lanai. We did not golf, go to the Haleakala crater or jump off Black Rock but there is always next time. Many thanks to the Brashens for their comfy condo which met our needs even though we were out exploring the island most of the time. The friendly aloha spirit was contagious right down to our last day on surf boards at Kaanapali. We met so many friendly folks that I have a feeling that we will be back some day.

Thank you for a great vacation in your beautiful condo. This was our third time at the Papakea and definitely the nicest condo we have rented at this property. We love the location and being able to walk to the farmer's market, fish market, grocery and beach. This condo has everything - beach towels, games, books, beach chairs and more. We would definitely recommend it and hope to come back in the future. Mahalo.

Home away from home, just better!

We have stayed in this gorgeous unit with our two boys 4 times during spring break and absolutely love it! It fully corresponds to the description of the property/unit on VRBO. It has been beautifully and tastefully remodeled and has everything you could want, including beach chairs, beach towels and a blender for those so delicious tropical drinks!! The views from the lanai are breathtaking and there are even binoculars for whale viewing. Papakea is immaculately maintained and shopping is within walking distance. Given the relatively small size of Papakea Resort, compared to the resorts just south in Kaanapali, the feel is more quiet and intimate with no sense of being "amongst the crowds". The owners have been fabulous to work with over the years and we would certainly recommend this unit to family and friends!

Janet, It was everything we hoped for and more. Our moms had a wonderful time. The condo was comfortable, clean and perfectly located on the ocean!. We all loved the fact that we didn't have to rush out to breakfast in the morning before room service showed up! We could take our time and RELAX! We met new friends in the condo next door (renters) and created everlasting memories with our moms. We didn't want to leave! In fact, I just checked the calendar for February. We stayed in your condo from 4/11-4/18/10. It was a vacation beyond our wildest expectations. We had our entire family including grandchildren with us and we could not have had a better time. PRICELESS! We rented the condo next door as well and that just worked out perfectly. The entire condo was perfect, so nicely decorated and apparently very recently redone. It was nice to meet you when we were there, certainly can see why you love your Hawaii home!

We stayed at your place in December a week before Christmas. Great time to go, very quiet! Really enjoyed the condo. Great view for whale watching. Good general location. Only negative is I think it's time to upgrade the upstairs bathroom. Everything else is top notch!!

It’s hard to believe that the summer has passed so quickly, but I don’t want to let it go without sending you a note about your wonderful condo. We LOVED it!It was beautifully decorated and it really fit the six of us perfectly. Our favorite activity was sitting on the lanai in the morning to watch the ocean. We really enjoyed the feeling of openness that we could gain by opening the lanai doors all the way. Lounging on the grass at sunset became our nightly ritual. I think the resort itself is great – we took advantage of the pool and hot tub and grilled our dinner twice while we were there. We saw so many rainbows we lost count, and the snorkeling just down the shoreline was great! Thanks so much for sharing your little piece of heaven with us. I hope we are able to come back someday.

Janet, Thank you very much for allowing us to rent your condo. The rental was beautiful, the view was amazing, and I didn't want to leave. The rental had everything and I do mean everything, including snorkel gear, we needed. We were there for a wedding and we were able to just make the rental a comfortable homebase for family and friends to sit, relax, eat,talk and have a drink. I would recommend this rental to anyone, except during the time I would like to use the rental. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

My wife and I visited Maui and Papakea with our three children this past August and had a wonderful time. Janet was easy to work with and the Condo was in great shape as advertised. Papakea is in a great location as you are only a short drive to The Kaanapali shores or for a quick excursion into the mountains to see the blow hole or other great views along the highway headed north. A great alternative to the Hana tour and some fantastic snorkeling and coastal views. Our only regret was leaving :-) Aloha !! Andrew

We stayed at your unit for 10 days in September and had a fabulous time. My whole family came: both children, their spouses and my 18 month granddaughter. Your unit afforded each family their own space as well as wonderful together time. The sunsets were spectacular and we were treated to three sea turtles on our last morning swimming right in front of the condo. The location was perfect for day trips to Black Rock for snorkeling, great dinners in Lahaina and Napili and Kapalua beaches. We also loved using the grills at the pool at cooked quite often at the condo. Simply a wonderful unit in a perfect location!

We stayed in this unit for 10 days in October. It is absolutely gorgeous. The condo is updated very nicely and the views from the lanai are beautiful. Every morning we woke up to another day in paradise. Papakea is a well-maintained quiet resort. We would definitely go back to this unit at Papakea.

After a group of us from Team in Training completed the King's Trail Triathlon, we were able to stay a few extra days & were so fortunate to be able to stay in your beautiful condominium. You made it so easy for us to check in. The condo was very clean & looked exactly like the pictures. It was amazing to sit out on the Lanai & look right out at the ocean & view the beautiful sunsets. The condominium is just as good as the web site claims. The situation on the beach is superb, the ocean front views to the neighboring islands are spectacular, as are the sunsets, and the unit is very nicely furnished. There was plenty of space for three couples. The Papakea complex seems to be well run and is less mercenary than many others on Maui, providing free car parking and wireless internet. I would be pleased to come again and would recommend the unit to friends.

Our family stayed at Papakea Resort for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years. The condo was perfect in every way. Our 3 girls loved having there own rooms and bathrooms and so did we. We spent 2 weeks at Papakea Resort in July '06 with 1 week in unit L402. Our 4 adult children came over to spend the week with us and we all managed very comfortably. The view from the lanai is spectacular and the accomodations high end, very comfortable and beautiful. We especially appreciated the boogie boards and chairs in the upstairs closet as we went farther down the beach several days for snorkeling and riding the waves. Thank you! The condo is beautiful! The four of us had an unforgetable time. My husband and I went with our 2 1/2 year old son and our 5 year old daughter, and we all loved every minute. The condo is perfect for a family, it was definately larger than we need, but we enjoyed the space. We ate dinner on the deck, love the high table and chairs. We cooked our own meals when we wanted and washed our clothes, the freedom to do as we pleased was great! I cannot even discribe the view! Amazing! It was our best vacation ever and we are already hoping to come back again and again. The Papakea was great also, we swam every day in the pool and the ocean, excluding our day driving to Hana, exhausting, but pretty! The beach is wonderful and our daughter learned to boogie board right in front of the condo! If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend this condo! Thank you for sharing your condo, Janet. We were initially apprehensive about renting a condo that we had not seen at a place we knew nothing about. Wow were we surprised! Janet made the booking process so easy and the staff at the resort was so friendly and helpful. The condo has an AMAZING view-it made you feel like you were on a cruise ship looking over the deck. The condo was clean,roomy and beautifully decorated for all 6 of us. It is nice that it is so near all of what you want to do and yet it is also private. We did not feel like we were in a crowd and felt like we had our very own place right on the beautiful ocean. We will definitely be back!!! Anita Roberts

Amazing place! Condo itself was immaculate, location - perfect. Was able to snorkel, surf and jog along the beach behind the condo! The remodel was impressive as well, and on the last day we had a great visit from a bunch of dolphins playing in the water- how cool was that! Dear Janet, Thank you so much for letting our family stay in your gorgeous condominium this past April. It fit our family perfectly. With four teenage daughters we never seem to have enough space but this was perfect. Everything about this place was wonderful-the bathrooms,kitchen, bedrooms,lanai etc... I loved waking up every morning to the beautiful view while sitting in bed. We saw whales from the balcony while sipping cocktails! Your kitchen was well stocked and your pans were nicer than the ones I have in my home. After four nights in Waikki Beach at a cramped hotel, I can't tell you how refreshing it was to come to your place. The decorating was beautiful and everything was new. I will definitely recommend your place to all my friends and family. Hopefully someday we will be able to return. Your condo helped to make this the best family vacation we have ever had.
