Thumbs up from a tough critic!

Guest: Mary A.
Date of Stay: 05/15/12 Review Submitted: 05/20/12

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time staying in this studio. I'm a tough sell but was very pleased with the accommodations, location and ease of the stay. I don't think more than 2 people could stay comfortably but the studio makes great use of the small space. The studio has a amazing location, loved the shops downstairs and in the neighboring resort. We also enjoyed a quick drive to seaside for shopping and cocktails. The beach and large pool are a good way when carrying chairs, coolers, beach bag ect the tram is key for long beach days. The tram to the beach was a great and friendly bonus, I fact each employee we met was extremely nice. The properties along 30-A are lined in sidewalks which makes for a great place to burn some of those creole inspired seafood dishes off. The studio is not luxurious but is clean, cute and perfectly located, a true perfect getaway. We hope to return this spring and would be happy to stay again :)

Owner response:Mary, Thanks so much for the delightful review from a tough critic. In a nutshell, you captured the essence of my condo and the experience of being on Scenic 30A. It's hard to describe the "specialness" of the area to those who have never been.......or who have only experienced the nearby Destin or Panama City Beach areas. While those are nice, 30A is indeed special and a cut above any beach community I've ever experienced. Welcome back any time. Nancy

Time away from Home

Guest: Dee L.
Date of Stay: 03/19/12 Review Submitted: 03/23/12

The property was as described and listed, I was very concerned about the amount of space, however it was ample. The property was clean for the most part. There was pet hair on the chairs and bed sheet and blanket; the main cover on the bed had some stains. I would and have recommend this property to family; the activities and attractions were ample. The area has a very relaxing atmosphere.

Owner response:Hi Dee, Thank you for the review. I welcome and always pay attention to all my reviews, which are overwhelmingly positive. Based on your recommendation, I'm asking my cleaning staff to pay extra special attention ongoing. I feel they do an excellent job, but we can always improve. Also, I agree the property is in an excellent location, and there is a lot to do in the area, particularly for couples and families. It's also an excellent place for a single person to "get away from it all," as you've noted. Thanks again for taking the time to review, Nancy

MISLEADING

Guest: SLINKY (ILLINOIS)
Date of Stay: 02/17/12 Review Submitted: 03/02/12

very disappointed with the "shoe box" that we recently stayed in , misleading information about beach access and the unit itself, will not recommend to stay here to anybody

Owner response:In six years of sharing my studio condo with others, I’ve never heard my place described in this way. As much as possible, I try to make it clear that this is a 420 square foot studio, all of which is listed on my vrbo.com and homeaway.com sites. I also stress that this is perfect for a single person, a couple, a girls getaway or a small family. In fact, last winter, a woman stayed there for 2 months quite happily. For those situations, my unit is a perfect way to enjoy a very high-end beach environment at an affordable price. It’s definitely not for everyone, especially if having multiple bedrooms is your desire. I’m not sure what the issue could have been with the beach access, which is deeded to the property and is exclusively for Villages and Seacrest Beach guests. I can walk to the beach access in less than five minutes; and if I’m carrying a lot of beach stuff, I can take the tram, which runs every 20 minutes in season. There should have been no issues with the beach access. Anything that’s not understood or confusing, we welcome your calls. Most likely, whatever seems to be a concern has a solution.

PLACES TO EAT AND VISIT

Guest: Kira of Austin, TX
Date of Stay: 11/26/11 Review Submitted: 03/18/12

My dog, Onyx, and I drove all the way form Austin, TX, to get away and relax! We enjoyed morning jogs, walks down to the beach, shopping at Pier Park, and had the most fun at Dusty's Oyster Bar. I sat at the shucking bar, ate oysters and talked with locals. Best place ever! La Cocina has yummy guac and amazing crab salad. Sundries place downstairs has good, cheap sandwiches packed for beach and WIFI too. It was a little cool during my stay, but I really enjoyed it here. I'll be back again.

Quiet Sanctuary

Guest: Kira L. (Austin, Texas)
Date of Stay: 11/20/11 Review Submitted: 12/03/11

I absolutely loved this cute, studio condo. It was quiet and comfortable. Even though it was a little chilly, I enjoyed my walks to the beach. There wasn't a tram running because I went during the 'off season'. The sidewalks and the beach were not crowded at all. There are miles of sidewalks which was perfect because my dog and I enjoyed jogging on them. Dogs are not allowed on the beach. Be prepared to deal with bikes. EVERYONE is on a bike riding around. The condo was clean and well maintained. I had everything I needed to have a wonderful time and be comfortable. The yellow wine glasses were a favorite of mine with the flip flop coasters. If you forgot reading materials, not to worry because there is a ton in the condo. I loved that too. When I called about the smoke alarm going off, I received a call back immediately. I absolutely loved that everything was within walking distance. The outlets in Destin are 20 minutes away, too. The sundries place downstairs provided good, cheap sandwiches packed to take to the beach and they had wifi too! I would love to come back during the 'season' and really see this place hopping. I will definitely be back and would recommend this place a thousand times over.

Owner response:Hi Kira, SO GLAD to know your experience was so wonderful. I actually hear your comments a lot. What can I say ---- it's a good time to go to the beach on 30A....always! And, so glad my little bit of heaven helped make your experience a fun one. Best, Nancy

GIRLS' TRIP

Guest: Carolyn, Sandra, Kim and Marilyn from Michigan
Date of Stay: 10/18/11 Review Submitted: 03/18/12

It's been 10 years since my mom, sisters and I have been together for a girls' trip to Florida. Your cute little condo was in close proximity to my daughter's spa. (Vivo Spa Salon in Rosemary Beach. It's the BEST!) and we enjoyed our mornings on your white sugar sand beaches, the cute shops to wander through, all the outside eateries (and we tried it all)and the sheer joy of warm days and balmy sunsets. We appreciate your hospitality and will have fond memories of this time as we head back.

Guest: Kelly (Dallas)
Date of Stay: 08/16/11 Review Submitted: 08/16/11

The stay here has been great so far. My mom and I went to Cowgirl Chicken and The Red Bar, which both have very interesting environments. I also went to the pool, which is conveniently located right behind the condo. We also went to the outlets in Sandestin, which is about 10-12 miles from the condo. Overall, it's been a fantastic stay so far!

Owner response:You're right. Mother-daughter getaways seem to be a popular option for my unit. Glad you're having such a good time. Convenience to the beach, bikes, great food, spa, etc. is so important when you just want to relax.

The Perfect Getaway

Guest: Happy Travelers (Dallas, Tx)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/13/11

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beach Combin'. The condo was a perfect size for the two of us, and, when friends visited for a few days able to easily accommodate the four of us. Everything we needed was a short walk or bike ride away - beach, pool, restaurants, shops. We rented bikes from the Blue Fish Bike Rentals stand right there in the center of the Village. We loved Cowgirl Kitchen, Paradis (Rosemary Beach) and George's (Alys Beach) and when we wanted to eat-in the condo's kitchenette was perfect for making and storing sandwhiches and snacks bought at the grocery stores just 2mi east. Destin and Panama City were both within easy driving distance. Overall, we highly recommend this charming condo and will most definitely be back!

Owner response:Sounds like you figured out how to handle Scenic 30A so that you could enjoy it as home base and easily get to a lot of things you loved to do. Seacrest Beach is a perfect (and tranquil) midway point between Destin and Panama City Beach, which are much busier and more congested. But, if you do want to venture out, those towns are only a few miles away. As you've already determined, 30A is the best of all worlds!

This place was awesome! We didn't get to enjoy the pool or the beach due to Tropical Storm Lee, but had a blast anyways! If anyone reads this, you MUST go to Stinky's on 30A for some seafood. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. Hope the next guest has good weather....:)

First Day (7/17/2011) -- Arrived today, early afternoon. We're already in love! Such a beautiful studio tucked away on this lovely stretch of beach and walking/biking adventures. Dazzled and exhausted.....so we enjoyed a great dinner at the Spicy Noodle and got a few snacks/drinks from Publix (down 98 toward PCB. So excited about tomorrow! Second Day (7/18/2011) -- Caught the shuttle tram to the beach this morning! A great day of sun and fun! Beautiful, crystal water and a wonderful breeze! Decided to drive into Panama City -- found a great little arcade place on the left with ice cream, burgers and more. (Great burgers! Plus it's always fun to feel like a kid again or have fun with your kids!) We may check out the water park or putt-putt places tomorrow! Third-Fifth Days (7/19-21/2011) -- The next few days of sun and fun were fabulous. Thanks again for having us and sharing this very special place!

A GREAT GET AWAY - THE PERFECT TRIP

Guest: Kristynn (Dallas, Texas)
Date of Stay: 06/28/09 Review Submitted: 07/09/09

This is our second time to stay at this condo and we loved it even more the second time around. The property is amazing!!! The location is unbelievable, comfortable, safe, friendly, fun, upscale, beautiful and clean beaches. The condo is relaxing and nicely decorated. It has such a fresh and airy feeling to it that welcomes you the minute you walk in. Very clean. The bed is so comfortable. We used the sofa sleeper which also provided a good night sleep. For a studio condo it offered ample space for all of us; very roomy. The windows provide a nice view and It was great to look out on July 4 and watch the fire works over the ocean. There was plenty of area for eating at the table for 4 and we had everything we needed in the kitchenette for our meals. We took a cooler for our drinks and used the mini fridge for everything else. We prepared breakfast and lunches each day in the condo and went out to dinner at a different restaurant each night. We spent plenty of time at the beach enjoying the crystal clear waters on Yellow Flag days; On Red Flag days we opted for the pools. The lagoon pool is amazing, but it was so convenient to have the smaller pool right outside the door of our building. The fountains out front also provided plenty of entertainment for the little one. We had so much fun renting bikes and letting the kids ride everywhere. It was a treat to be able to walk to dinner each night and enjoy and icecream cone afterwards. The location and setting of your condo is perfect. We're already planning our next trip. Thanks again for another great vacation!!

Owner response:Kristynn, So glad your family opted to stay in my condo again. It's important to me that my guests feel like they are in a well-loved "home" of their own while they are enjoying the Emerald Coast. See you again next year. Nancy

Spring Break 2009 MDS-CNS Dallas, TX, USA Review Submitted: April 7, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009 We stayed at this property March 14-22 and had a wonderful time! The condo is equipped with everything you could possibly need. We were pleasantly surprised to find a blender in the kitchenette (to mix up some frozen drinks), as well as a DVD player in the living room area for those relaxing late nights (there are a couple of video rental stores right down the road). The complex is beautiful and within driving distance of many attractions. We visited Seaside and Panama City and even did some shopping at the huge outlet mall! The beach is incredible - the white sand is so pretty, but not hot at all, which was very nice. The water is a gorgeous mixture of turquoise colors and perfectly clear. It seems to be a very friendly atmosphere and we felt very safe and comfortable walking all around. I would highly recommend this as a great vacation destination! A cozy place for a great vacation! harried business owner Peoria, Illinois Review Submitted: April 6, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008 I enjoyed a wonderful 3-month stay here! Although I initially had reservations about whether a studio condo would have sufficient space for such a long stay, I found it to be very comfortable. The mini-kitchen was well-equipped with dishes and utensils, and the assortment of books and games available to use was a great surprise. The location is ideal...just a short walk to either Rosemary Beach or Alys Beach, and the interactive fountain and 2 pools were a nice asset. The condo was very clean and the owner seemed genuinely interested in making sure that my stay was satisfactory. Owner response:You and your daughter had a wonderful "mother-daughter" experience that many others have also enjoyed. There's something about the unit's decor and its walking-distance location to fun, beautiful, relaxing beach life that creates even stronger family bonds. Many couples have also written me about their similar experiences. There's definitely something about Florida life on Scenic 30A.....I call it "laid-back Florida living meets Andy of Mayberry."

Nancy and Emerald Sun were wonderful to work with! And, it was a perfect place to be after a stressful time at the office. The room was exactly like it is pictured--with games, books, and even a dvd player and stereo. The weather was perfect, and the grounds were gorgeous. My two small cocker spaniels loved the bike trails and walking around town. There was even a watering pail for them at the local Starbucks! I was able to use the little kitchen to cook several meals, and there were some great restaurants close by for special nights out! The big pool was FANTASTIC--in some ways I even preferred it to the beach! Palm trees and cabana bathrooms with showers included! (One suggestion for the future--there was no map in the welcome book. Maybe something that tells where the nearest grocery, post office, drug store, or other useful locations are?) Overall, thank you so much for a wonderful vacation! I will be back!

Hi Nancy. We're home from a wonderful trip!! We really enjoyed your condo. What a great beach. We loved everything. It was just as you described it. We found a restaurant that we must recommend - it's in Panama City Beach. It's called Barnacle Bruce's. A total dive - but great food. Apparently it's where the guys that work on the fishing boats eat.

Hi Nancy, I just came back from Mexico. It has been a busy summer for me! We had a wonderful week in Florida. My whole family loved your place, not only was it comfortable, but it also made us come closer as a family. We enjoyed many hours together watching T.V and playing games, as well as eating! Our vacation was a wonderful experience, we enjoyed the beach and both swimming pools at The Village. Everything was like we expected and had lots of fun!!! Thank you for sharing this "little piece of heaven" with us. Mayra

Dear Nancy, Spent a wonderful 4 days here at your lovely condominium during my family reunion in Sunnyside. Will be back next year, but will have my family and me. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. Love the ambiance of the condo. Loved all your books and hope to come back at a later time.

Got back from my girls trip on Sunday. Just wanted you to know that we had a GREAT time. The unit was just the right size and located in a wonderful spot. The pool was amazing and the weather was perfect. We had to call Emerald Sun when we first arrived because the air wasn't working, but they were right on it and we went ahead to the grocery store and got something to eat and returned to a cool, comfortable room. The kiosks out front were good and we purchased a few things from them. Really enjoyed Rosemary Beach shopping area. I didn't find your list of suggestions about the air, tram, etc. until Wednesday. It might be good to put that in the three ring binder left on the kitchen table. Took your advice and ate at Shades. It was wonderful. We also drove into Panama City Beach area to eat at Bayou Bills. We had always eaten at the one on 98 and since it burned we drove on in to eat at the other location. Went to Pier Park too, and it was great. Of course, I can't skip eating at Red Bar and my friends loved the eclectic flavor and ambiance. My friends said the sofa sleeper was the most comfortable they had ever slept on. Chops was open. We just opted for more seafood places. Starbucks in Rosemary Beach was open. Also, let me say how helpful Emerald Sun was. From the air conditioning to sending extra towels for us girls who use two towels each hair and body they were very prompt and generous. We also picked up a map of the South walton area from some store that had a map with points of interest like restaurants, stores, etc. indicated with numbered dots and a key which was VERY helpful. I kept it because we'll be returning at the end of the month for a family vacation. It was a Beaches of South walton Visitor's Map. If I didn't tell you before the list of restaurants with dollar symbols for prices and the phone numbers was also a great help. Thanks again and I'm going to put a really good review on your web site. I know reading those reviews helps me make decisions on which VRBO rental to choose. Thanks again and I hope I get to do a girls trip next year. If so, I'll be in touch. Have a great summer. Marcia
