Beautiful, comfortable place and wonderful hosts. Ruby had toys for my children to play with and plenty of room around the property for them to run around. We enjoyed quiet nights by the campfire with new friends and even cooked a few meals over the fire as well. Steps from downtown shops and restaurants. Hope to return again some day! Thank you!
Owner response:Thanks Jackie.............. appreciate it. Please come back! Ruby

Double the Value/Half the Price

All the prior reviewers said it all. The house is magnificent in every respect. Every expectation is magically fulfilled. You will leave very happy! What the prior reviewers didn't tell you, though, is that the value is worth DOUBLE the price. We have rented a number of homes through Homeaway.com in the US, in St. Maarten, and Europe and, while all were superior properties, this one had better features for much less cost. Want proof? We have our own New England listing (#233748) for more than twice the price, and while ours is also very, very nice and completely books up all dates rapidly with very satisfied guests, The Rock Garden Inn is better than them all!
Owner response:Thanks for the great review! Please come back! Ruby

We have stayed in a number of very nice VRBO homes. This one was absolutely the best! The home (hand built by Tim) is amazing. Clearly built around viewing opportunities, there are beautiful views from every room in the house. It is meticulously decorated and Ruby's wonderful pottery is evedient throughout. Ruby and Tim were extremely helpful with dining options and places to go/see (highly recommend the "Homestead Restaurant" on East End Road and Finn' Pizza on the spit). One evening, Ruby knocked on our door to let us know there was a momma moose with 2 calves at the end of the driveway! We spent a good 1/2 hour taking picture! Our trip was a 3 week whirl-wind of Alaska, and our last 3 nights/4 days were spent in Homer. It was our favorite part of the trip. If you're looking for an excursion, I highly recommend True North Kayaking. We did the "Ultimate Tour" which was a 3+ hour hike to a glacier lake followed by a 3+ hour sea kayaking tour. Amazing). We will be back! Thank you, Ruby and Tim!!

Our gang simply loved this property and the owners. Ruby and Tim were very helpful with any needs that we had. They made us feel right at home. We are already talking about coming back next year. This time we will bring our kids. I would highly recommend this property to my friends and relatives. A must see is the "Ring of Fire" Meadery and the Mermaid Cafe.
Owner response:We totally enjoyed having you stay at the Rock Garden Inn !

We had the most magnificent summer vacation at the Rock Garden Inn in Homer. The house is located in the middle of town which meant walking distance to some of the finest restaurants this country has to offer. Who knew Homer was a foodie town! The house is spectacular. Every detail is perfect. No five star hotel has this attention to detail. All that was missing was the butler! Tim and Ruby are the most special and talented people and stop at nothing to assure a memorable stay. We can't wait to return. We are in love with Homer!
Owner response:We enjoy making our vacation rental a great experience for our summer guest. Ruby

Thank you to Tim and Ruby for an awesome experience in Homer! Their hospitality was spectacular. The Rock Garden Inn is jawdropping! I walked into this beautiful home and was struck by the workmanship and the amazing antiques that filled their home. It was also a great location - within walking distance of downtown Homer and the Two Sisters Bakery - Yumm! This was our first experience of staying in a rental unit through VRBO and have since recommended this home and this site to over a dozen people. I also want to add that Ruby has a beautiful pottery store located on the ground level of the Rock Garden Inn - little did my husband know! I came home with 6 pieces to add to my pottery collection. I HIGHLY recommend this home and the hosts to anyone who has the pleasure of visiting Homer, Alaska. We had a great trip and it is certainly due to the home we were able to enjoy every evening! Thanks Ruby and Tim!
Owner response:Thank you Wendy and Mike, We enjoyed sharing our home with you. Your stay with us was a great way to start off our summer season. Enjoy the pottery. Ruby

We stayed in Homer when we got married in July of 2008. Ruby helped us find a place for the ceremony (we ended up using the house of a friend of hers), she made our group comfortable in both houses and helped make our trip a success. We even bought some of her excellent pottery. We will be back!
Owner response:We enjoyed Ron and Jen and their wedding party. It was great to help them locate a wonderful place for their wedding.
