Hartland Pond (Pinehurst Lake) is a private community of 35 cottages on a small private lake approximately half by one quarter of a mile. The water quality is the highest in the State; clear and clean. Swimming, canoeing and fishing are all excellent (smallmouth and largemouth bass). There is a private tennis court and many miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. The lake sits in the middle of water district property and state forest, and is truly hidden away.
The 'cottage' is actually a large summer home built in 1946 with a large stone fireplace, and is a three season home from April - Nov. There is a large screened-in porch within 50 ft of the water, a large (20 X 20) dock for swimming and a large canoe for paddling and fishing.
This is a gated, private, family-oriented lake community, very quiet, no motorized craft of any kind allowed.A resident State Trooper is one of our neighbors. The house is 10 minutes from the Farmington River, the premier trout fishing river in Connecticut with trophy trout up to eight pounds and fish management areas for the fly fisherman.
Adults and families only, no party groups.

Year Purchased: 1946
My Grandparents built this family vacation home in 1946 and it has been in our family ever since. I grew up here as a child, and it has changed very little. Due to rising waterfront taxes we are selectively renting to qualified family groups and couples to supplement the cost of ownership. This is our home for part of the year, and is not your typical income-rental property. We ask that you treat it as carefully as you would your own home. We pride ourselves on keeping the house and property well maintained and in excellent condition.

The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
The lake Association was formed in 1929, and most buildings were completed in the 1940's. A limit of 35 homes was set then and still applies. The Lake Association owns 600 acres around the lake. Since that time the State of CT has aquired land around us and has established State Forest and Water District Property surrounding the lake that will never be developed. The result is a unique piece of history tucked away in a heavily forested part of CT that has not changed in 60 years.
