Location: The neighborhood is unquestionably one of the best in London , as you are minutes walk from Kensington Church Street, Kensington High Street and Notting Hill. Kensington Church Street is famous for its antique shops and restaurants. Two of our favorite restaurants are Clarke’s, where you should reserve early for their fixed lunch or dinner. They also have a bakery which sells a wide selection of fresh bread daily, a real treat. Trendy Kensington Place is located at the top of the street and serves excellent fish.
Notting Hill Gate is filled with shops, cafes and restaurants. The tube (subway) is three minutes walk and goes direct to the City of London, the second largest financial district in the world. The famous Portobello Market antiques market is in Notting Hill Gate; be sure to go early on Saturday mornings.
A few blocks away you will find Kensington High Street, a popular, upmarket shopping street. Shop at stores such as Marks and Spencer, Barkers, Zara, Habitat, Muji, Lush, Talbots, Monsoon, Accessorize, Mac, Urban Decay, etc. Additionally, get your Starbucks latte nearby or eat at numerous good cafes and restaurants. Transportation is excellent: the tube stop is three minutes away and there are numerous buses along Notting Hill that will take you to all of museums, shows and sites that you would like to visit.
Finally, Kensington Gardens is five minutes away and is great for cycling, running and picnicking on warm days. Kensington Palace is there, home to the Royal Dress Collection, including Diana’s wedding dress. Museum Row is ten minutes' walk.
We think you will love staying here when you visit London. It is a beautiful, central location with easy access to restaurants, shopping and museum row. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions. |
