Avoid the traffic congestion in Kona and stay in the up market Keauhou Resort area - Keauhou Palena is a real gem - you won't see many condos of this size in this kind of shape and style. It's close to shops, the bay, restaurants, coffee growing district and theaters - yet only 6-miles scenic drive along Alii Drive (great to bike or drive or scooter) if you want to go into town.

This beautifully designed unit is right on the 16th tee with a fabulous view of the Kona Golf Course with ocean in the distance! It has bamboo flooring, all-new contemporary furniture, teak dining table, new bathroom fixtures, and large stone slate lanai with large electric BBQ grill.

It is on the second level of a two-story building (not a high rise!) and always has a beautiful breeze and spectacular sunsets. This unit is fully equipped and in excellent condition.

The unit comfortably sleeps 4 persons. It has one master bedroom with private bathroom. A spacious L-shaped living area has a sliding door which separates into a second bedroom with a daybed (sleeps two children or one adult) and queen-sized very comfortable air mattress on legs for 2. There is a 2nd bathroom/shower. The lanai is very large and can seat 6-people at the dining table.

Keauhou Bay is walking distance from the condominium (just five minutes). There is excellent golfing (with discounts), snorkeling, outrigger canoeing, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, mountain biking, coffee plantations, horseback riding, local artist community and galleries, and some of the most beautiful turqoise water and hidden beaches you will ever see in the world. There are two active volcanoes on the Big Island and Volcanoes National Park is a site to behold.

The location is unique in that you are close to the coffee plantation area which is lush and tropical yet this condo always gets the Kohala Coast sunshine. You are 6-miles from the town center, yet close to shopping for groceries, souvenirs, cinema and restaurants at Keauhou Shopping Center.

You just have to arrive - the condominium is completely equipped with everything you need to explore this beautiful island.

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1997

Hi. I'm the owner of Keauhou Palena. I purchased it in 1997 and it has been a wonderful investment and vacation escape for me, my family, friends and other guests. I am self-employed as a marketing professional at Immerse International. I help businesses set up marketing infrastructure using technology tools, then assist with creative and innovative campaigns using the latest tactics like social media, CRM (I use Salesforce dot com), digital video and other mechanisms. I'm very much into outrigger canoeing and I'm a member at the Keauhou Canoe Club and the San Francisco Outrigger Canoe Club. I also do some executive team building programs and take people out on San Francisco Bay as part of the experience. My other hobby is as a ceramicist and I play piano and a little bit of guitar. I'm a native of Minnesota, got my MBA from Thunderbird Global School of Management back in '88. I lived in Asia for 10-years (Hong Kong) and now I live in San Francisco, but travel to Hawaii whenever I can.

Why the Owner Chose Other Kailua-Kona Properties

I purchased this property from a friend of my parents. I was living in Hong Kong at the time and I always dreamed of owning a home in Hawaii. When it came time to invest, I just fell in love with the big island because of all the natural wonders and less developed areas. Keauhou Bay is a unique area in that it's far enough away from town so it feels more local and a sense of community versus a typical resort. It feels like a home away from home which is what I was looking for.

The Unique Benefits of this Condominium

I love the location, the fact it is 2-blocks from the Bay so I can get up in the morning and go for a run, a swim or paddle in an outrigger canoe. Plus, it's a short walk to get a coffee, see a movie or something to eat. There's a big grocery store in Keauhou Shopping center. But the best thing about this place is the ambiance, the view and the relaxing environment away from all the hustle and bustle. I'm an adventure sports guy and there is plenty to keep me occupied on the island, but plenty of down time too!
