Casa de Las Garzas (the herons, named for its frequent bird sightings) is a beautiful, two-bedroom home located on the banks of the shallow and walkable Rio Izote.
Bring your own or buy a pair of "water shoes" in town and take the shortcut across the almost dry riverbed (that is how the locals do it after all). Or reach it by automobile at the exit just BEFORE San Francisco as you arrive from Puerta Vallarta.
A gated-entry leads to a private brick patio with outdoor seating under its own palapa (thatched roof). Ornamental metal doors unlock to your riverview living/dining and kitchen area with vaulted ceiling which also opens through sliding glass and screened doors to a large riverview patio deck for dining, relaxing, bird watching or doing a whole lot of nothing.
A large bedroom and bath complete the downstairs and a faux bamboo stairs takes you up to the large jungle view bedroom with vaulted ceiling and handcarved armoire to enjoy another form of privacy. And, on your walk to the beach, you pass all the dining that San Pancho has to offer. Go to Taza de Cafe for breakfast, Maria's Resturant for breakfast, lunch or dinner, La Perla and Las Palmas for beach food, and on the way home go to La Ola Rica for dinner or Cafe San Pancho for gourmet and maybe return via Gallos for late night pizza, or anything from their full dinner menu and full service bar. All that in the little town of San Pancho? You Bet! |
