Why the Owner Chose Kensington & Chelsea
When we used to live in Hawaii, we spent our summers in London, which is why we bought this apartment as a second home. Now we are living in the UK, we are renting this apartment for others to enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
Our apartment is in an extremely convenient location which was the main reason we bought it. It is 2 minutes from one of the best shopping streets in London (Kensington High Street, a High Street is British english for an American "Main Street"). It is also only 2 minutes from a tube (subway) Station (Kensington High Street Station). The apartment is very light and has been recently refurbished and is equipped to American standards. Being on the fourth floor, the apartment is very safe and secure. The double glazing ensures a quiet environment. Both bedrooms have room-darkening curtains which is very useful during the summer months when it is light outside early in the morning. The apartment location is only 5-10 minutes from Hyde Park which at 625 acres is one of the largest parks in London.
High Street Kensington Underground Station. 2 Minutes walk from our apartment
5-10 minute walk from our apartment to Kensington Palace, where Princess Diana lived.
2 minutes walk to High Street Kensington, one of the best shopping streets in London with many excellent shops and restaurants.
One of the most expensive streets in the world with houses costing over $100 million. Only 5-10 minutes walk from our apartment.
5-10 minute walk from our apartment to Hyde Park where you can rent paddle boats on the Serpentine Lake.
20 minute walk to the Natural History Museum .The museum is home to life and earth science specimens comprising some 70 million items within five main collections: Botany, Entomology, Mineralogy, Palaeontology and Zoology. The museum is a world-renowned centre of research, specialising in taxonomy, identification and conservation. Given the age of the institution, many of the collections have great historical as well as scientific value, such as specimens collected by Darwin.
The Victoria and Albert Museum (often abbreviated as the V&A), set in the Brompton district of The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London, England, is the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 4.5 million objects. Named after Prince Albert and Queen Victoria, it was founded in 1852, and has since grown to cover 12.5 acres (51,000 m2)[2] and 145 galleries. Its collection spans 5,000 years of art
This concert hall is one of the UK's most treasured and distinctive buildings. Since its opening by Queen Victoria in 1871, the world's leading artists from every kind of performance genre have appeared on its stage. Each year it hosts more than 350 performances including classical concerts, rock and pop, ballet and opera, tennis, award ceremonies, school and community events, charity performances and banquets.
Harrods is an upmarket department store. The store occupies a 5-acre (20,000 m2) site and has over one million square feet (90,000 m2) of selling space in over 330 departments. The UK's second-biggest shop, Oxford Street's Selfridges, is a little over half the size with 540,000 square feet (50,000 m2) of selling space. The Harrods motto is Omnia Omnibus Ubique—All Things for All People, Everywhere. Several of its departments, including the seasonal Christmas department and the Food Hall, are world famous.
Buckingham Palace, in London, is the principal residence and office of the British monarch. The state rooms, used for official and state entertaining, are open to the public each year for most of August and September, as part of the Palace's Summer Opening.
Owner's Map of Kensington & Chelsea
We are a British couple who lived 25 years in USA mainly on the island of Maui in Hawaii where we had a Real Estate business so appreciate the standard that Americans are used to.
We returned to the UK a few years ago primarily to take care of elderly parents.

We really enjoyed the convenient location. Easy walk to High Street Underground and groceries at Whole Foods. The apartment is located on the 4th floor of a modern secure building. Nice walking area. Everything was clean and tidy and as advertised on VRBO. Suggestion: Just around the corner is the Muffin Man Tea Shop - Cakes, Sandwiches, Desserts and of course Tea! Enjoyed our stay.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children.

My husband and I stayed in this flat with our three daughters ages 14, 12 and 8 during the week August 1-8, 2011. This was the first time we had ever rented an apartment abroad, and I am writing this review in the hope that it will assist others who are looking to do the same. Our family often stays in Marriott/Hilton/Ritz Carlton brand hotels and I was concerned that a flat would not provide the level of amenities or comfort we are used to. I was extremely pleased with this flat and would not hesitate to recommend it to another family. The location, in particular, is excellent. It is a safe, quiet neighborhood that is upscale by American standards. We felt this was a very good home base with easy access to High Street Kensington tube station (two blocks away), Whole Foods, Marks & Spencer and many restaurants. We had originally booked a different flat near the British Museum with three bedrooms. The night before our trip, our property rental company let us know our original apartment had a plumbing issue, but this flat had availability for us on late notice. We were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the location and comfort of the flat. The king size bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable; the pillows and white sheets comparable to a higher end hotel. The bathrooms and kitchen were modern and we appreciated the washer and dryer. The second bedroom was simple and functional, just fine for children. The flat had free wi-fi, a safe, and plenty of closet space. Extra pillows and blankets are provided, along with a helpful handbook if you have any questions about how to operate appliances. The kitchen is well stocked with toaster, coffee maker, dishes, cookware and utensils. The water pressure in the showers is up to American standard, and very good. There is no A/C unit in the second bedroom, yet it was comfortable and fans were provided. A/C units are provided in the master and living area. The garden outside is beautiful; we wished we could have accessed it but were unable to. We enjoyed walking past it, though, and sitting on the benches outside. This flat is better suited for a family of four (as it is advertised), as our youngest child had to sleep on an air mattress (which she found comfortable). Under the circumstances, this was fine. A family of four should not hesitate to rent this flat. I recommend Cafe Concerto's take away gelato and fresh pastries, just down the street from the flat.

As billed, this flat is light, airy, and close to transportation, yet in a quiet neighborhood square. A two minute walk brings you to the High Street Kensington Tube station or buses which will get you to Knightsbridge and/or West End shopping within minutes. It is also a 5-10 minute walk to Holland Park or the edge of Kensington Gardens. High Street conveniences include Tesco, Marks & Spencer as well as WholeFoods Market for all of your grocery needs. The kitchen is fully equipped and the new washer and dryer are a bonus for longer stays.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay in this Lovely apt. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us, and having 2 bathrooms was marvelous....and hard to find in London! The beds were comfortable, and the apt. was very quiet, yet just around the corner from Kensington High Street. Everything is within walking distance, shops, grocery stores, Hyde Park, and access to the underground is just a very short walk. A lovely, safe area to explore London. This sure beats staying in a cramped hotel room! I Highly recommend this wonderful apt. In this super area.

This was a fabulous place. Location is wonderfully central. Apartment is very well equipped and very comfortable. Easy to get around London either by very nearby public transport (Underground & bus) or taxi (many available). Listings accurate, owners very helpful and knowledgable. Apartment itself was very clean. There were so many restaurants and shops within walking distance, this is the perfect place to stay while visiting London and it myriad of attractions. I have no hesitation in recommending it. Book it if you can!

I highly recommend this flat. It is so perfect in all ways. Lovely feeling inside with all the right amenities. Both bedrooms are comfortable with nice linen, good kitchen and 2 well sized bathrooms with a good size tub and great shower. The living room was relaxing and all in all we loved staying here. The building is safe and well kept. I especially loved how its only a 2 minute walk to High Kensington street and Tube station, to Marks and Spencer, Boots and other shops and restaurants. There is a huge Whole Foods down the block. It is a lovely 10 minute walk to Hyde Park. Perfect location. We stayed here April 11-16th 2011 and would definitely stay there again on our next visit to London. Felt like a resident. Oh yes and it was well kept and clean.
