Santa Cruz house description
This Original Seabright Beach single story cottage was converted in the early 1900's to a two story Craftsman Bungalow. The home is furnished with nautical decor. Upstairs sunroom looks out to the bay and municipal pier beyond. Peaks of the ocean from three other upstairs bedrooms. Upstairs bathroom is large with old fashion clawfoot soaking tub. Downstairs has a large living room, large dining room, large kitchen with eating nook, also a private bedroom off the front porch, and the west bedroom with its own enclosed sun porch. The home sits on a corner lot surrounded by well kept lawns and gardens with many cozy sitting areas, some with a view of the beach, a welcome after a long day at the beach. Wake up each morning to the gentle reminder that you're as the beach with the sound of waves and sea lions barking in the distance.

We had a great time at the nest! The location is perfect, 5 minute walk to the beach, 15 minute walk to the Boardwalk. The home is filled with charm, the kitchen has everything that you need to make any meal. There is a fenced yard and many places to sit outside and enjoy the perfect weather. We will definitely keep this home on our list of vacation keepers. Thank you Dave for sharing your home.

One of the best houses I have rented through VRBO - charming, very clean, comfortable. Great location. We were here for a family wedding and enjoyed the sunshine, the garden, the comfy beds and the beautiful dining room. Walked to the beach, the harbor, the grocery store and the Buttery. Can't wait to come back. Thanks.

A classy unique craftsman Nest
A classy unique craftsman Nest
We found ourselves in a bad situation with desperate need for a house for our out-of-town friends and family attending my daughter's wedding. Our request was very short notice and for unusual dates. The owner went far beyond what most would do in such a situation. He was understanding and gracious throughout the rental experience. The property itself is amazing and the owner has obviously put much time and love into a house well over 100 years old. It was clean and well cared for and has many features that are unique. The second-floor sun porch is great and the outdoor bathroom is, well, COOL! I cannot give a high enough recommendation for the property and the very kind way we were handled by the owner prior to, and during our stay. We will undoubtedly return under more relaxed circumstances.

Great Beach Bungalow
Great Beach Bungalow
Our family loves this house. This is the third year we have stayed at the Nest. The bungalow is very spacious with a large living and dining rooms. The location is perfect: one block from the beach and a short walk to the Boardwalk, restaurants and the Harbor. Also, the fenced in front yard is perfect for our adult kids to sit and talk while the younger grandkids play. The owners are very friendly and keep the house in great condition. I would highly recommend this beach bungalow.

Family fun at "The Nest"
Family fun at "The Nest"
Our family has been staying at "The Nest", annually, for well over 10 years. It is a very inviting property with accomodations for multiple families. We have shared memories with numerous family and friends throughout the years. In fact we are looking forward to our next stay at "The Nest" in July 2010. The property is conveniently located to Seabright beach, walking distance to restaurants and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The historic downtown Santa Cruz shopping and eateries are a short drive away. Also, my wife and I love to take time to visit the many antique stores in the surrounding area. The property is very "family friendly". We have been staying at "The Nest" with our two boys since they were 3 & 5. They are now 16 & 19. I would highly recommend this property to any family that is searching for a getaway that would provide good quality family time in a very relaxed setting.

About the owner: As a little boy growing up in the San Joaquin Valley, I remember looking forward to going to Santa Cruz every summer to spend 1 week with my grandparents and my young single aunts. Every year my Grandparents would have two grand children stay each week until all my cousins had a chance to vacation each summer. They sold there beach home in th late fifties. So when My wife and I got married we would vacation in Capitola and Santa Cruz and rent at the beach somewhere. We would ride around on our bikes with the kids, always keeping an eye out for a small place to buy. After renting for several years we found a small fixer upper. Being a young general contractor with lots of ambition, we began fixing it up, enjoying Santa Cruz and the beach also. As soon as the sun was out, we were off to the beach. Well after 14 years the little cottage became to small. So one day on a trip to the yaght harbor, we ran across this old Craftsman House that needed some TLC. We fell in love with it and with my ability to do the work we bought it. So now we are the Grandparents having my kids and grandchildren spend fun time at the beach. We have met so many nice families who we have rented to and many still return after many years. Everyone is happy when your'e at the beach. We love it.
Why the Owner Chose Santa Cruz:
When we found this home in this location by the ocean we could't pass it up. The home is in a great neighborhood with many neighbors who have been here for decades enjoying their families at or near the beach. There is lots to do around here for everyone.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We, as well as our guests really enjoy the feel of this Early American Craftsman Style Home. When you step in the front door you you feel like you just stepped into an lodge. All of the wall are wood, floors are all wood, ceilings are all wood, with a rock fireplace. It's has a cozy feeling both indoors and in the gardens with many different seating areas.
