- Minimum stay:2-7 nights

- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Set in its very own tidal creek on the banks of the River Fowey, The Old Sawmills is a haven of tranquility.
A converted water mill dating back to the 17th century
Nestled in acres of woodland, the location alone is stunningly beautiful.
Whilst staying at the Old Sawmills you have the feeling of being on your own island, as access to the Sawmills is by boat... yet you can walk out any time, along the scenic footpath of the Saints way.
The site has seen a wealth of history from medieval merchants to Wind in the Willows, wartime employment to world famous recording studio. Located between the charming village of Golant and the picturesque town of Fowey, it’s both an ideal base for visiting many of the sights of Cornwall and a perfect setting for simply relaxing and watching the tide lap in. Good fishing can be had from the outer quay and there are many walks that can be joined from the grounds
The Old Sawmills is a dog’s paradise too, and well behaved animals are welcome.

I booked a long weekend at The Sawmills for a group of friends and I to enjoy a relaxing getaway. We had a fantastic time. The house is old and beautiful, we loved getting out on the water in the little boat and canoe. Ruth picked us up from Fowey on the boat which added to a lovely weekend. Very relaxing hide away - I definately recommend and would go back tomorrow.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had an amazing stay at the Sawmills, a joint birthday celebration, mainly adults but we also had one couple who stayed with a little baby, they had the lodge next door which was perfect. The location is unbelievable, completely secluded, access is exciting(!) but so long as everyone is prepared for a bit of walking/boating it adds to the experience. Ruth (the manager) helped us no end. The house was very comfortable, clean and warm and well equipped with cooking utensils etc. An unforgettable weekend. We want to go back soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a absolutely wonderful time at the Old Sawmills. It is perfect accommodation for a big family gathering or getting together with friends. The house itself is clean, well equipped and finished to a high standard. It is situated in a beautiful spot just off the river Fowey, an idyllic retreat so calm and peaceful. There is plenty of beautiful countryside and woodland to explore. To walk into Fowey itself takes about 45mins where there are several lovely pubs/restaurants and shops. Also a quay that is brilliant for crabbing! We recommend hiring a boat not only for getting around but to see the fantastic views from the river. The customer service was excellent from the moment we enquired about the property. Ruth was incredibly helpful and attentive and helped make our stay such a success. I can't recommend The Old Sawmills highly enough, it is a magical place.Did you find this review helpful? We stayed at the two bedroomed lodge at Sawmills. We had a wonderful time. The location was stunning at the end of a creek. The lodge was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Ruth was very, very helpful. It's useful to hire a small boat to get around as you can't park at the Lodge. We would leave the car at the nearby village of Golant and either walk or take the boat to get to The Lodge. The surrounding area is beautiful and unspoilt as is Fowey. If you are a Daphne Du Maurier fan this is the area where she lived and loved and based her most famous novels. The one pub in Golant is unpretentious and welcoming and provides good, tasty food. The area is great for wildlife and walking with fantastic views along the coastline. We would certainly go again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We spent a long weekend in this tranquil and delightful location celebrating my 50th birthday ...had a lot of fun and no neighbours to disturb. The place is as described ...no frills just comfortably furnished ,clean and well equipped in the kitchen. Ruth is lovely and very helpful and the boat trip to the property adds to the excitement and suspense. As we were there out of season we couldn't rent a boat which was a shame and perhaps would add to the enjoyment of the rental if there was a boat to use all year round. It's a great place to celebrate with the perfect blend of Cornish lifestyle and eccentricity. Looking forward to my 60th !!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We really enjoyed our stay in the house. We hired the cottage and lodge and both were really nicely decorated and extremely comfortable. A really unique and idyllic location. We had 16 of us stay and there was plenty of space and the many bathrooms were very useful! I would thoroughly recommend hiring a boat as it makes it so much more fun! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful when we arrived and just left us to it! I thoroughly recommend this place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
