Islesboro cottage description

Our wonderful, cozy, comfortable, fully winterized cottage is now available for a winter rental - - from now through Memorial Day. $600.00 per MONTH (plus utilities). We pay for local phone service & Internet. NO SMOKING. The cottage has both electric and oil heat. It is well-insulated and has excellent passive solar heat; heating costs are very reasonable.

We are also ready to start booking for the 2015 summer season. A wonderful Maine island cottage for rent. Reserve a summer week now - - or two or even three weeks - - at our cozy, comfortable cottage on magical Islesboro Island. The sooner you reserve, the more likely you are to get your preferred week. A GREAT VALUE FOR A FABULOUS LOCATION.

This is a place that 'time forgot.' Think 19th century Vermont transported to an island in the ocean! Crow's Nest cottage is an easy 20 minutes by ferry off the gorgeous Maine coast. 100 years old, shingle-sided, and renovated, Crow's Nest cottage is located at the northern, rural end of legendary Islesboro Island, considered by many the most beautiful of all Maine islands. Cottage faces the Meadow Pond, a quiet, lush wildlife refuge. Sleeps 4 comfortably. SMOKE-FREE home. Minutes from beaches. Large deck.

1 or 2 well-behaved, well-groomed dogs welcomed.

Our Meadow Pond Neighborhood: Crows Nest cottage is located “up-island” and looks across to the 20 acre, fresh water, Meadow Pond, a neat wildlife refuge for deer, birds, turtles, beaver, etc. You need a car on the island to get to the 2 small grocery stores, to the 2 restaurants and ice cream parlor, for speedy trips to local beaches and public playground, and to get to the ferry.

This is a place with Hundreds of Secluded and Hidden Coves and Beaches. If you love the splendor of the Atlantic Ocean and Maine coast without droves of tourists, Islesboro is your place. There are dozens of secluded and incredible coves and beaches -- both sandy and rocky -- within a 5 to 15 minute drive from the cottage. Or pack a backpack and bike (or walk!!) to them....Explore them on foot and or in a kayak. Bring picnic lunches and suppers and play Robinson Crusoe on your 'private' island.

Explore the nearby coast : The wonderful villages of Camden and Belfast are minutes from the Lincolnville ferry. Camden has many shops, a great book store (or 2), food stores, restaurants, antique shops, public library, and energetic waterfront full of beautiful old and new boats. Schooners for day tripping are berthed in Camden Harbor. Drive a few minutes further south from Camden to Rockland for more shops and restaurants. This is also the home of the very special Farnsworth Art Museum, a great place to spend a few rainy hours. The Farnsworth is home to the Wyeth Center, one of only two centers in the country dedicated to the three generations of Wyeths: N.C., Andrew, and James Wyeth.

We only accept personal Checks or Cashier Checks. We are Not Taking Credit Cards at This Time. Thank you!!

Although we are now dogless, we have loved our dogs greatly. We appreciate the importance of being able to bring your beloved pet so that you can (both) have a relaxing, stress-free, vacation! Additional Fees for Dogs: $100.00 per Week Rent for EACH Dog (max of 2). Additional Security Deposit of $200.00 for EACH Dog.

WINTER RENTAL: We are always looking for a terrific winter tenant for the whole winter season, October through May, but this may be negotiable. We may be amenable to renting for a shorter rental period, but we have to charge a considerably higher monthly rate for shorter winter rentals.

Your own Maine island house in the middle of Penobscot Bay - - rent it for one week or more! Islesboro Island is perhaps the most beautiful of all Maine islands. A 14 mile long gem with secluded beaches and rocky coves, Islesboro’s simple and quiet elegance has made it world famous. Accessible via a 20 minute, gorgeous, ferry ride on a State of Maine ferry from Lincolnville Beach -- 10 minutes north of Camden, 15 minutes south of Belfast. The island is a unique community where the sea, the landscape, natural wonders, wildlife, and amazing historic homes are the attraction. This is a place that “time forgot.” If you are looking for movie theaters, amusement parks, bars, fast food, shopping, and crowds, this is NOT a place for you. Awesome kayaking, beach combing, walking, running, biking, and birding areas! Most of all, this is a place for complete relaxation. The world-class Farnsworth Art Museum is located less than 1 hour away -- on the mainland in Rockland -- this is a rare treat and worth a long visit on a rainy day.

Other Activities: Kayaking, wildlife viewing, local library, sight-seeing historic architecture, photography, world-class museums off-island.
