Adorable cottage-style two bedroom home in Roxboro, North Carolina, located in the piedmont of North Carolina. Great for vacations, extended-stay housing, corporate housing, lodging for (30 minute drive) Duke Hospital, lodging for (30 minute drive) VIR, lodging for shopping NC & Va colleges, lodging for Progress Energy's Hyco & Mayo power plants.
This cozy, comfy, clean, fresh house has two bedrooms, each with queen-size bed, a renovated bathroom and kitchen, wireless hi-speed internet, and great cell phone signal strength. There is a sleeper sofa for additional sleeping space.
This 900 square-foot house is located in Roxboro, NC, which is within one hour's drive from Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, NC, plus Danville and South Boston, VA. There are wonderful museums nearby, and plenty of southern plantations to tour in nearby Halifax County, VA.
Two large local public lakes (Hyco & Mayo Lakes) offer wonderful opportunities for sunning, swimming, great crappie & bass fishing (from the bank or your boat), skiing, tubing, wakeboarding (if you bring your boat), kayak & canoe rentals, boat launch, amphitheatre, walking trails, wildlife viewing deck, and all other water-related activities. Duke University Hospital & the Durham Bulls minor league baseball games (good, family fun that you can afford) are less than 40 minutes away. This little cottage, if you will, is a perfect place for someone wanting more space, privacy, and amenities than a motel offers...at motel-type rates.
You're within 5 minutes of 3 (chain) grocery stores, all the regular fast food restaurants, shopping, & quality locally owned & operated Steak, Seafood, Italian, & Mexican restaurants. You're 10 minutes from Palace Pointe Family Entertainment. Palace Pointe is very unique because it has all under one roof 20 bowling lanes, 8 movie theatres, video arcade, rollerskating, 7 billiards tables, & food diner. Orange County Speedway, Person County Drag Strip, & South Boston Motor Speedway are all within a 30 minute drive. You can get to UNC at Chapel Hill in 50 minutes, RDU airport in 65 minutes, Raleigh & Hurricanes NHL Hockey games, RBC Center, & CASL Soccer Complex in 70 minutes, Cary & WakeMed Soccer Stadium (NCAA Finals the past 2 years) & USA Baseball National Training Complex in 65 minutes, the new state of the art DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center) that we in the Triangle are so proud of in 35 minutes. About the owner: This solid, sturdy, tight little house was built in the 1940s, & like you find in so many small towns across America, although it's in a residential neighborhood, it was my Dad's office for 30 years until he passed away in 1998. In 2005 my wife, Kathy, & I talked to Mom about renovating, furnishing, & renting it to vacationers, businessmen, & travelers of all sorts. Kathy & I manage the rentals for Mom, whose getting on in years, but still doing well. Our guest lodgers have really enjoyed it, & they have taken good care of it. With a new bathroom, kitchen, appliances, beds, color TV, HS internet, & gas grill out back, this sorta "cottage or bungalo" has become a "good fit" for travelers to our small hometown & rural county, "a quality that's affordable". Kathy & I grew up in Roxboro & Person County, & we're extremely proud of what will always be home for us. Y'all come. Sincerely, Arcch & Kathy.
