Yellowstone Riverfront Cabin, Sleeps 8, $171-$225/Night
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Gardiner
Gardiner is a very special place in Montana and it just happens to be the only year round entrance into the park. This location is ideal for a vacation in the Park. For me it is ideal for fishing the mighty Yellowstone River. I have been vacationing in Yellowstone since I was a young boy. I grew up in rural North Dakota and had an Aunt and Uncle who lived in Billings, MT. They had two boys my age so my brother and I would come to Montana in the summer for two weeks and they would take us to the Park. Thanks to my Aunt and Uncle I now live in Bozeman, I met my beautiful wife in Billings and I now own a cabin bordering Yellowstone Park.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
The cabin is surrounded by National Park Land, Forest Service Land, and the Yellowstone River. Best of all it is only 300 yards from the park, yet 4 miles from the entrance and the town of Gardiner. You get a secluded base camp from the park that is only minutes away. Our favorite thing to do is sit around the campfire at night while Debbie makes peach cobbler in the dutch oven.
Owner's Map of Gardiner
My name is Marty Haskins. In the picture is my father-in-law Frank Kroll. We purchased the cabin in November of 2005 along with my wife Kelly and Frank's wife Debbie. We bought the property thinking of how great it would be to have a "getaway" that is riverfront, park-front, and forest service-front. We have been blessed to find out the demand for housing near the park. We only thought we would rent out about 6 weeks a year and now are renting the whole summer. We spend a lot of time at the cabin in the spring and fall. My wife and I just gave birth to our first child, Sophia. The pick you see is the fire pit about 10 yards from our back door. As you can see I like a big campfire.

This cabin exceeded our expectations. It looks exactly like the picture. It was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. We toured in Yellowstone everyday. We enjoyed the nights that we got home early to the cabin. My husband and I came here with 5 teenagers. They all told me the cabin was great. Even though the cabin was in a group of cabins, privacy was not a problem. The owner was great to work with and very helpful. If I had the chance I would definately stay here again.
Owner response:This is the perfect home base for your time in Yellowstone Park. Don't stay in a Hotel. Save money and create lasting memories in a cabin on the Yellowstone River.

Hi Marty, Sorry I have not been able to send an email before this. I have been inundated with things since returning from vacation. We did write in your cabin journal, but also wanted to tell you in email, we absolutely loved staying at your cabin. We have been to Yellowstone several times before, and have even stayed at a hotel in Gardiner (as well as lodging in the park). I was a little hesitant about staying in a 'group' of cabins, but it really is quite private and not an issue at all to have people so close. We all remarked on the amazing detail you have in your decor. It was such a comfortable stay. We actually tried to get back to the cabin 'early' each day so that we could spend some time relaxing and enjoying the Yellowstone River flowing by. I can't imagine going back to Yellowstone and staying any place else! I have already received the security deposit check. Thanks again for a wonderful stay! Betsy Glencross

This cabin was a wonderful place for our family to stay while visiting Yellowstone Park. It was beautiful, clean, and well stocked with everything we could need while on vacation. While at the cabin, we saw pronghorn, elk, and osprey. It was a quiet, comfortable place to come back to every night. It was nice to be able to cook our own dinners every night. My three teenagers all enjoyed it, and that is not always the case! When we come back to that part of the country, we hope we can stay at this cabin again.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us! We had a wonderful trip and we loved the cabin! It exceeded our expectations and was probably our best VRBO experience to date. The decor was lovely and everything was so well kept up. Supplying the soap and paper products was a huge bonus. Our son loved his room and really enjoyed having his very own TV in his bedroom (a luxury he does not have at home). The location was perfect for visiting the park and very peaceful and quiet at night. We enjoyed seeing all of the wildlife in the area and took a rafting trip on the Yellowstone River. The park itself was amazing and we were glad to have so much time to explore each area. We took your advice and came down through Red Lodge and the Beartooth Mountains -- what an awesome drive! We also made a daytrip to the Grand Tetons, which was worth the drive. So many photos and so many wonderful memories! I can't imagine why anyone would stay anywhere else during a trip to Yellowstone!

The cabin is absolutely great! It was such a clean and organized place. It had everything we needed right down to the spices for cooking. We had a great relaxing vacation there and recommend this place to everyone. We had no problems from booking to leaving, except we had to go back to work.

This cabin was perfect for us! My parents (mid 70's) were with us, as were my teenaged kids. Yellowstone was BUSY (mid-July) and it was a HUGE blessing to return each day to such serene surroundings. The cabin and grounds are beautiful. This owner took more care to think of the needs of renters than any of the other properties we rented. We saw pronghorn within a few feet of the driveway each day. Listening to the river roll by while drinking my morning coffee was the ideal beginning to every day! If we ever return to Yellowstone, we'll be staying here! Thanks!!!

Our group was 3 60 years olds and one 6 year old. My college friend and our grandson, Will shared a room as did my husband and I. Having 2 bathrooms was great. The house was furnished nicely and STOCKED with many items that we did not have to buy such as seasoning. Our grandson loved the hot chocolate mix. The setting on the river is wonderful. When we were there the Yellowstone was quite high so there was no wading. My husband did put a fishing pole in the water, but we did not eat fish!!! Being able to "cook in" and having a grill gave us very relaxing evenings without having to leave the house once we returned. Even the neighbor dog was a treat for our grandson. We loved our stay!
